I reckon this Con needs its own thread now, as more info is coming in.

The band Ghost of the Robot will appear as special guests in concert on Saturday night.

Attendance will be very limited at only 1700 total patrons (of which only 700 tickets will include autographs) so those of you purchasing: Platinum, Gold, and Silver tickets will have plenty of access to most of our guests all weekend long.
ALL Platinum, Gold, and Silver seating at this event is RESERVED, so you don't have to "camp out" to get a good seat and you can come and go as you please knowing that your seat is there for you all weekend.
Note: Seats numbered after #701 will be open seating.
Special Events: In addition to our famous Cocktail Party and Banquet, there will be the Ghost of the Robot Concert on Saturday Night, plus a very special "Platinum Ticket" is being created for this event.
This Platinum ticket will be extremely limited (25 tickets Only) as it will include: Front Row seating ALL weekend, an "All Access" pass that will grant you access to hang with James & Ghost of the Robot backstage, invitation to a special "Evening with James Marsters Reception" on Saturday Night after the concert (which will include open bar and food), autographs from all our headliners, plus the Platinum ticket will include tickets to the regular Cocktail Party, and the Banquet with uaranteed seating with one of our guest stars!
The Platinum ticket will be pricey: but will be the experience of a lifetime for those lucky few who can get one, as it will give you unprecedented access to James and Ghost of the Robot, with the best seats in the house, the incredible private Reception with James, the backstage pass, the best seats for the Banquet, and admission to the regular Cocktail Party.
Professional Photo Sessions By popular request: In order to satisfy those fans that just "have" to have an in-person (cheek-to-cheek) photo taken of them with James Marsters, and our numerous other guests: Vulkon has arranged a special professional photo session with our guest stars. (Each patron will have about 30 seconds total with each guest).
Time, place and prices to be announced.
Please Note: That like all other Vulkon activities, you must have a Vulkon admission ticket to use your photo session ticket and refunds for will not be given for unused photo session tickets.

Oops, I also should have posted the important amendments to the original con details:
*Please note: due to circumstances beyond our control, the Backstage pass to hang with Ghost of the Robot is no longer available due to some security issues that we were unable to resolve.
Also: to stop any kind of re-sale abuse of our tickets, Platinum tickets are sold NON-Refundable and Non-Transferable. So you may not re-sell this ticket - it stays in the buyers name only. If you are not able to attend, you may contact us and ask us to try to resell it for you, you will only be given a refund on Platinum tickets if we are able to sell it on your behalf.
As Platinum tickets are expected to sell out within minutes, we have reserved a couple of tickets to sell on Ebay as a "Second Chance" for those of you who may miss out on buying one. Ebay item # 2213780590

This is very perplexing, but there is a ticket on Ebay already... I thought it was meant to be a second chance, not a first chance?! And look at the bid! Ticket on ebayAnd what a nerve - This is a very special "Platinum" ticket* which was limited to only 25 total tickets! And is SOLD OUT ! They haven't gone on sale yet, so WTF is going on?!

You gotta be kidding...well, didn't James say something last year about being a whore? Maybe he wasn't kidding.
Sorry, but I think this is just all a bit obsene. Ya know they just pulled a 12 yr old girl out of the rubble in Iran and could be upwards of 40,000 perished in the earthquake. I don't know, guess I'm just being wierd.

He may be a bit of alright, but thats way beyond the joke and I have to agree with I2 on the better causes for all that money, but each to their own I suppose

Apparently Vulkon have been getting a lot of "feednack" about this! They have added the following to the ebay page:
And apparently they have held back 5 of the 25 tickets to be sold in this way, so just 20 tickets are up for grabs on the phone. Apparently they have advance private offers for above the telephone selling price, but they wwon't succumb to that.
I am not sure I find it obscene exactly... yes, if you juxtapose this madness against the need for aid in Iran, or any number of other places in the world, it looks a bit sickening. but come on, we all have just been through the most over-the-top commercialised orgy of self-indulgence and haven't commented on how guilty it makes us feel in light of world events. Probably because it doesn't. People are either of a giving nature or not. So if you spend $1000+ on getting to sit by James for a few minutes, you might still very well donate blankets or cash to some charity if you were already so inclined. And then again, you might not.... but then probably never would no matter what the circumstances.

I have to say I'm shallow and if I had enough money I'd choose a few minutes with James over blankets and aid anyday .....sorry just being honest!!

I really don't see why the two things are mutually exclusive. And as for Vulkon well, they are employing the laws of supply and demand. Give the punters what they want and you can make a good living. Fair enough. That's capitalism. It's the world we live in. And no-one forces folks to spend thousands of dollars on their obsession.
HOWEVER, the supplying party should give all the facts and tell the truth. Otherwise they get into a muddle and break the ebay rules. But things seem to be getting sorted out now.

Fernando has been giving info on the vulkon forum about other stuff happening over the weekend: Yes we did throw in a free photo opp with James for Platinum ticket holders, to help make up for the backstage pass change.
Also as far as the schedule: this will NOT be a normal Vulkon event as we have a bunch of activities planned as the ticket prices are higher and we want to give everyone the most value for their convention dollar.
So, we will have programming and registration starting as early as Thursday afternoon and running straight through till Sunday night! Plus, we plan on having some activities with the actors starting on Friday afternoon as well. And (yes there is more !), in addition we will have more panels, more interactive presentations, Thursday night Karaoke, Friday Night concert with another band (Not telling who yet - sorry), a Friday night dance too!
Plus... all our regular programming and expanded Sunday evening programnming too!
Can I get a WooHoo?!
Fernando/ Vulkon Oh, and Julie B has *poofed* from the guest list at the site - www.vulkon.com/sanfranciscoslayer2004/index.html

Update from Vulkon: Can you believe it? This event is now only 3 months away! And the guest line-up just keeps getting better and better with 14 stars so far! Plus we have now confirmed Common Rotation as the band for the Friday Night Concert with tickets available both online and at the door for only $15 (Note: you must have ordered tickets to this convention in order to be able to order any concert tickets online. For those of you not attending the convention, concert tickets for both concerts can be purchased at the door).

We have also just added a professional photo opp with the Troika as a "group shot" with Adam Busch, Danny Strong & Tom Lenk. Tickets now available online.

Update from Vulkon: Latest News - Slayercon
/*The Official Vulkon "SlayerCon & SlayerCruise" Newsletter - 6/14/2004*/
Hello Everyone!
Well this is "knock you off your feet" news indeed! (See the personal note from James Marsters below).
Re: A personal Note from James Marsters to SlayerCon attendees...
Dear Fans of Vulkon SlayerCon Oakland:
I wanted to send a special message to my fans who will be attending the SlayerCon in Oakland, California, August 28-29. Ghost of the Robot will not be appearing at this event, however, I will be there for BOTH days to take photos with you, sign autographs and do two Q&A's. I appreciate your understanding about the changes with the band and look forward to seeing you all in Oakland.
James Marsters
So, in the best tradition of Hollywood "The Show Must Go On" and James will definitely be attending the Oakland event, and as a matter of fact has graciously agreed to do two Q&A sessions, so will be speaking now on Saturday as well! (Note that does not change the autograph sessions or any other event times).
However, it does leave us with an opening for another band to play on Saturday night. And what better band to fill those huge vacant shoes that GHOST left behind, than with Common Rotation and one more "special band" *!
Yes a dual-concert by two amazingly talented bands!
*(Please note: Another awesome band has been invited but we are still working out those negotiations and cannot announce who it is until we have a signed agreement. An official announcement will be made online this weekend at .
Plus I am working on another amazing band for the Friday night concert (since Common Rotation will now appear on Saturday night), and we have another very "special band" in mind!
We will announce all changes (and the new band) online by this weekend if possible!
