If anyone is interested I'd like to plan a strategy meeting at the Oakland Vulkon to discuss future projects supporting Spike and James. It may be a formal Vulkon panel or just a room meeting. In order to prepare, can everyone let me know if they are attending the convention and if they would be interested in being involved in the meeting by contacting me at teep_p12@yahoo.com? Also, if you have any ideas, please feel free to add them to the mix. So far: 1) I think we definitely need a rolling campaign targeted at a different network each week promoting James for his own series. He said at the convention in Australia this weekend that David Greenwalt has worked out a series idea and has been pitching it to several networks. Let's see if we can get something to come out of it. 2) James also mentioned in Australia at the convention that Joss is interested in making a Spike movie along with three other Buffyverse or Angelverse movies. We need to keep putting the pressure on Fox (and WB) to see that it happens. 3) We've had quite a bit of information lately that the the Buffy and Angel line of novels is in jeopardy because sales has been decreasing. Unfortunately, most publishers aren't savvy enough to look too deeply for the meaning of the sales decline and could tend to just argue that it is because the shows are off the air. We need to convince them that it could be content and not circumstance that is causing the decline. Spike fans still want to spend money, all we need is the right product. We need to continue to let Fox and Simon & Schuster know this. I did hear back from Fox and they are going to try to provide some promotional materials for the Oakland convention. Hopefully that will work out. 4) Postcards - I will be bringing a few thousand more postcards to Oakland. If you would like to pass some out or fill out some of your own, please see me there. They will also be provided at the panel/party so we can fill them out as we meet. I'm working on the possibility of adding a postcard store to the Support Spike website so people could purchase pre-printed picture postcards (with or without postage to include those of you out of the country). All purchases would include a list of addresses and a sample postcard with how to fill it out properly. Rather than my original idea for a kit, this would allow people to choose the number of postcards they want to send. If anyone has the webprogramming knowledge on how to do something like this and would like to help out, please let me know. We have some great cards for Spike and Dresden created by Evenstar that I think you all will love! 5) Weekly Newsletter - In order to include as many people as possible, I would like to take a page out of the SavingAngel.org effort and add a newsletter function to the website. This way a weekly newsletter could be sent with updated news and address/target information. ===== www.savingangel.orgwww.supportspike.com

This from James' website
TO ALL FANS ATTENDING THE VULKON CON: Some fans have informed me that they were told that they cannot bring any gifts for James to the convention. I’ve since spoken to the promoters of the convention and cleared this up. Although I cannot authorize anyone any special time to present their gifts, I do know that you can give it to him when he does his signings. If anyone wants an address in LA to send their gifts, they can send it to: c/o Himber Entertainment, 211 S. Beverly Drive, #208, Beverly Hills, CA 90212 - Steve Himber (manager for James Marsters)

Poor old Andy: For those of you who do not know, Andy Hallett has been very . He is currently back home recuperating, but as of today his doctor said he was still too weak to travel and has him on oxygen to speed up the healing process. Now that of course means he will not be able to make the Oakland event, as he cannot travel. We ask that you all please include Andy in your prayers tonight and wish him a speedy recovery!
Now how will this affect Oakland? Well as of this moment I have invited two guests to take Andy's spot at Oakland, and am awaiting replies. I should have someone confirmed within 3-4 days. At which time, I will announce the replacement both here on the forum and via newsletter. You will then (if you have ordered a photo opp with Andy) need to decide if you want a refund of that photo opp, or if you would like to switch that ticket to another guest.
Also, in other news while I have your attention: All of James Marsters photo opps have sold out for both Saturday & Sunday. James has agreed to add a 3rd photo session on Friday afternoon at about 4 PM or so. So for those of you who missed out on ordering a photo session with James, this will be your last chance to order one! Tickets will go on sale sometime tonight.
We want to thank you for your patience and understanding in regards to all these guest and band changes. We are doing the best we can to find suitable replacements whenever a change occurs and to keep you informed. But that is the way things are in the entertainemnt business, and we have learned to accept that change is inevitable. So again we thank you for bearing with us, and ask for your patience when we need to adjust your tickets as these changes affect a lot of patrons.
Thank you, Fernando & Joe / Vulkon Vulkon Forums

Alane at BAPS had a photo session with James yesterday, and says he has had his hair cut real short again! *bounce, swoon, thunk* And if you need to know, he was wearing a black and white tee, and the blue jeans with the teeny rip at the knee. If you are a BAPS member you'll be able to go see the pics from the cocktail party that she has put up already. Aren't people good and FAST about sharing Btw, don't bust a gut racing to see pics of James - he wasn't at the cocktail party, don't forget! ETA - oooh, nice profile of Tony though! Alane has given permission for her reports this weekend to be reposted, so I'll bring them over, but I'm not going to bring the individual links to her pics. If you aren't a member, for shame! Another report from Alane at BAPS: Can't stay online long. I had my second of two photos with James. Yes, somehow I refrained from ordering a third one on Sunday. LOL!
He was wearing brown leather shoes with about an inch thick sole. A different t-shirt and the same jeans.
I was wearing my PedAIDS T-shirt and told him that I hoped he liked it because he was getting one that would be remarkably similar to it. I mentioned the $10,000-plus we had raised here this summer and he got really excited and said he knew. They took the picture and I was moving on, but he was still talking. I was sliding around his back while the next person came up -- I hate it when that happens to me that the person in front take my time. He said that people all over Hollywood were congratulating him for how much he had raised for the Glaser foundation, and I gave his shoulder a squeeze -- by this time I was on the other side of him -- and I said in his ear that he got a really nice thank you from the children of the world through the foundation. Then, I scurried off as the photographer was calling out the next number in an agitated voice.
Next up is autographs and Q&As from the various stars. The rest of the day is really packed, so I'm not sure when I'll next get on.

Next installment from Alane I must be going color-blind when I get too near him! The shoes were black. The shirt was red and the jeans still had holes.
We have finished with the autograph line for today. I gave James a gift bag, which included the donor's card and cover letter. We weren't supposed to even give him gifts. ::cough!:: Volunteers were instructed to take the gifts before we got to him. Right.
Teep also gave him a copy of the media publicity kit from Support Spike.
We are such rebels when it comes to the rules.
Laurie asked him about the short hair. He said it gets to curly when it grows out, and you can't have curly hair in Hollywood.
Next up, we have a fan panel at the top of the hour and then the Q&As.

Mmmm, teenes has sorted out an all-embracing link for all her Oakland Con stuff, so check it out HERE. She has worked really hard to bring us everything so soon and with such flavour. Yummy James, loving the pretty tee, the short hair, the big grin, the... *swoon, thunk* Deb, there's quite a bit of sorta disappointing news coming out of the Q&A and auto lines, don't you think, re JM's career moves/plans? It's very frustrating! ETA - changed the link so it goes to Teenes webpage now, not her LJ.

Another Alane report (BAPS):
I had a chance to ask James about the postcard campaign to get a Spike telemovie. He said that Joss's idea was four telemovies -- Angel, Spike, Giles and Willow. He said that he didn't know if The WB would only go for just one of them, but he would like to reprise the role. When I asked if we should keep sending in postcards, he said "Hell, yeah." Twice. And that it could still happen, meaning the Spike telemovie. He also mentioned again that he told Joss they only had five years in which to use his face before he would just be too old for
an immortal vampire -- and Joss got a twinkle in his eye.
Read into that whatever you will.
Also, again during the Q&A he said that he would work for Joss anytime and anywhere because he's a great writer.

No, some people have to find fault with him no matter what, and all in the name of being a fan His choice of clothing takes a regular bashing and what I think about the pettiness isn't fit for a mod/board mistress to post. I'm with Deb, I thought he looked great. If he, or anyone else told me what I should and shouldn't wear I'd tell them where to go. I may have strong opinions about his career choices (or lack of them?!) though, LMAO! Double standards, moi?! Perish the thought.
