Sorry for the double post PK. ::grovels:: Marilyn is right, I think you have mellowed in yer old age, you don't sweep us about as much as you used to.
The Devil Wears Prada is a 'chick flick' and then some, but is highly entertaining and we loved it. Meryl Streep is excellent as always, you can see why she is James favourite actress. It's a real feel good movie and it helps if you like fashion and it's all just vastly watchable.
I think possibly the real star is the girl playing the assistant, she's very funny. "You don't deserve it, you eat CARBS!" Lol, Emily Blunt.

A double post is only a double post if you have just remembered something else to say two minutes after your original post, and could have modified that one instead ;D Days or weeks apart is no problem, and if you are bringing different info, a few posts in a row is cool - I do that all the time. And as for not sweeping so much, maybe I do and you just don't notice The trailers for TDWP have made me laugh (and I love the look of Meryl's hair). I thought the film looked like a fluffier Swimming With Sharks; evil, snarling boss/put-upon assistant.

Kevin Spacey. He played one evil SOB, some of the put-downs were extremely ouch-worthy but terrific. ;D Things do take a turn for the, um, worse for him though

So, V and I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End today ..absolutely terrific , ties up some loose ends but creates more , so maybe this won't be the last one ;D
It didn't seem almost 3 hours long because the story moves at such a pace , but they could have cut a couple of scenes that just seemed to be included as a tour de force for Mr Depp , they didn't come off and were, quite frankly , boring .
Al the characters we met in the first 2 films are back in this one , and two are killed off ..I won't spoil it by saying who , but V guessed who one of them would be , and I guessed the other one , although neither of us guessed the ending ;D
Dear old Keith Richards did a good job with his cameo , and I thought in this one that both Geoffrey Rush and Bill Nighy acted Johnny Depp off the screen in this one .
All in all a cracking film ;D

Hmm...three films to review since I was last in 1. Die Hard 74 , okay Die Hard 4.0 , but Bruce Willis looked about 74 ...very grizzled ;D Not a patch on the first Die Hard , but then again , very few films have sequels that are as good as the original The SFX are pretty good , and the story plausible ...this time our hero John MacLaine is fighting computer terrorists planning to shut down the Eastern Seeboard of the US using amateur hackers who infiltrate government and utilities computers to create chaos and are then killed off . John unwittingly saves one of them and then in his usual fashion pisses off the computer criminals by surviving everything they throw at him andsaving the day despite getting half killed in the process ! Not bad , but we should have waited for the DVD ;D 2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Fabulous , and despite there being a cinema full of kids , you could hear a pin drop ! Much darker even than Goblet of Fire ,fantastic SFX, and top form acting from a cast containing some of Britains finest actors ...notable exception being the gal who plays Hermione You would have thought after five years she'd have got the hang of it by now ..but no , a wooden spoon could do better ! Imelda Staunton is truly chilling as a seemingly twee Ministry of Magic inspector , all chintz office with walls full of kitty plates that meow and purr, floral tea cups and a nice line in torturing the students Thank goodness this director took over after the first two films ...aeons better ;D 3. Transformers Absolutely cracking ...just over two hours of stunning FX , and so fast paced (mostly) that the time flies by ;D I may be a little in love with Bumblebee , the yellow Camarro car who chooses Shia LeBoef as his owner ...this lad can act , unlike his female lust object co-star , and the Aussie girl computer specialist Little Andrew from Buffy has a small part ...er role ...as another computer specialist trying to work out who or what has decimated an army base in the Middle East ...that would be a Decepticon masquerading as a US Air Force helicopter dude ;D The Autobots and Decepticons are incredible although it can be a bit difficult telling which is which during the amazing battle scenes ..you just have to remember that the Autobots retain more of the parts of the cars trucks and buses they assume the shape of , and they are more colourful ...the Decepticons are mainly silver or gold , and to be honest change from way cooler machines like fighter jets , helicopters and tanks Loved it ...especially the second half ,which was breathtaking ;D

Went to see Stardust on Friday I thought it was wonderful, though I'd only recommend it to those who adore fantasy, fairytale and magic. Charlie Cox is the young hero who is at first awkard and shy but becomes more confident and heroic throughout the film. He is cute rather than hunky. Claire Danes is the fallen star. I thought she was ok but a bit bland. The story is fairly typical with heroe's, villains, kings, princes, witches, curses and spells, oh and a unicorn. Ian McKellan does the voice-over storytelling in that wonderful voice of his, very LOTR The witches were stereotypical, think Hocus Pocus, but there were some good special effects. An added bonus was Nathaniel Parker (Inspector Linley) who I like and didn't know was in the film. The star of the film by far was Robert De Niro, playing a closet cross dressing pirate captain of a boat that sails through the clouds capturing the lightning, with hilarious crew. Comedy element also from the ghost prince's, who kill each other off throughout the film in order to succeed the throne, then hang around observing the goings on ;D. I guess some would find Ricky Gervaise funny in his role as the whealer dealer, I didn't but I'm not keen on him anyway. I think it could have been more romantic than it was, but I didn't think there wasn't enough chemistry between the two leads, though I'm sure Charlie Cox is capable And at the end of the film the beautiful Take That song that I absolutely adore and had looked forward to throughout the film Def. one to see and buy if you love fairy tales Oh, and Rainbow loved it and stayed awake throughout so it must have been good ;D

Hmmm no posts since Dec 2007. Anyone else seen The Dark Knight yet? Heath was amazing, of course!!! ;D If I didn't know it was him, I'd not have guessed. Well there were a few parts I could tell, but not much. I sat there watching the credits waiting for an "in memory of" type thing, and sure enough, they put one in. A friend of mine who is also a Heath fan (and a completely straight guy!) had told me I had to see the movie, and that Heath will probably get an Academy Award for it.

T went to see it, Cy, and he said pretty much the same things. What a sad loss! I finally saw Brokeback Mountain the other day...sure it was cleaned up for regular viewing, but still really good.

Thanks Ditto. I guess they run out of plots over the years but can do better stunts and effects as technology etc improves. I shall wait till it's on the telly

Finally persuaded V to go and see Twilight this afternoon ..she didn't fancy going at first, but it was either that or spend several hours with me in TKMaxx I only just read the book the film is based on earlier this week , and despite it being aimed at Teens , I really enjoyed it . The film itself follows the book really closely , and whilst people have said there is a heavy emphasis on the tenets of the Mormon religion , its only in the implication that the human heroine and the Vampire hero shouldn't have a sexual relationship . This is explained by the fact that Edward would not be able to control himself and would end up killing Bella . They have one scene where he and Bella experiment with a kiss to see just how much control he can muster , and when they get a bit too passionate , he hurls himself away from her . An allegory for not putting yourself in temptations way ...very probably , but I don't think its a bad thing after overhearing a comment from a young lass behind us , who said ' I wouldn't care if he killed me , I'd just want him to fuck me ' The effects are a bit crappy ,and come the sequel I'm expecting more money to have been spent considering the box-office returns for this one ;D I'm also convinced that the author has been fairly heavily influenced by Buffy and Angel ..there's even an evil vampire called James ;D All in all its quite enjoyable , probably more so when there aren't lots of teen girls screaming when Robert Pattinson as Edward appears , when he does his smouldering look (which is quite often) , and when he gives us a quick look at his chest to show what happens to his skin when he's in sunlight ...quite an interesting interpretation of the vampire legend

Heh Ditto , I just find it funny that , even though special effects have moved on at a pace , they still can't make someone run really, really fast without them looking like a speeded up Benny Hill ;D
