Should I double post or add to my last post PK? We went to see Keanu Reeves in The Day The Earth Stood Still. Deb had a sugar surge and we ended up going Trafford Centre at midnight! Not a bad film and Keanu as pretty as ever but the film didn't quite have that magical ingredient and I was left feeling there should have been something else...

As I've said many time, there ain't nothing wrong with double posting when time has passed between your last one, or you're bringing new info to a thread. Just don't do it in Prattle when you've had an afterthought, coz it's so not necessary when there's a modify button ;D I should laugh because she shouldn't be having sugar rushes, but can't help myself ;D I never understand remaking classic movies, especially when the modern take falls far short of the original. The original DTESS had such a sense of time and place about it. Does anyone remember The Day The Earth Caught Fire? I love that Hard-bitten journos and all that.

Just seen Star Trek and it was pretty awesome As NN has previously said the casting is inspired and the characters are easy to connect with from the off. There were moments when you could have been back in the 70's without the cheese ;D Not enough Scottie, though hopefully more in a sequal. Needless to say the CGI was dynamic and even I wasn't too mystified by the technology and general tech talk on board the Enterprise. Quite a lot of brawling but I think that's James T Kirk's 'thing', he always liked to get his fists out. A bit of unexpected romance and snogging The Romulans ship looked like a giant prawn ;D And the Romulans themselves were suitably evil yet deliciously styled and gorgeous with high cheek bones, tattooed faces and long swishing coats, all menacing and snarling. The end was spine tingling with the original music and the 'boldly go' speech

I loved it! Wide awake all the way through which was a mirical surprising considering how tired I was - I had earlier fallen asleep at the computer! I loved the whole cast - they really linked to the series personas (sp) just younger and better looking - roll on the sequels!

Everyone I know who's seen it loves it It's making me a bit agitated. Would y'all mind if I asked for our heatwave to dial itself down a bit at some point soon so I stand a tiny chance of getting out and seeing it?

I'd gladly sacrifice the weather is it helps Where's your nearest cinema and does it have good facilities? Hope you can see it on a big screen.

In town, and it's not bad. But I'm fit for nothing after just 2 days of moderately hot weather

So we just have to get cooler weather in sync with the screening

I'll let you know when P has a few days off pet ...its pretty much certain it will rain It probably is one of those films best seen on the big screen , but I'm pretty sure I'll be buying it and enjoying it all over again at home ...especially when I can smoke and eat much cheaper sweets and popcorn

PK did you ever get to see Star Trek? I loved it. Anyways...we've just been Trafford Centre to see The Ugly Truth. I only went for the ice cream but absolutely loved it and my sisters want to know where you can get vibrating knickers and told me to "Ask Marilyn."

Hasn't anybody been to the flicks since Aug 7th? Went to see Matt Damon in 'Green Zone.' He's very good to look at and a cracking actor but I don't like him due to Minnie Driver.

I didn't want to like him for the same reason, but he was awful young then, plus, Minnie can be slightly barking so we don't know what was going on with them really. My admiration for him as an actor snuck up on me and took me by surprise (although he does make some shocking career choices now and again).
I've read some reviews of Green Zone saying it was a bit muddled. Mind you, war's like that innit.

I didn't know Minnie had a rep for barking! Do we have any examples?

I love MD in the Bourne films Sounds like a good trip Ditto Can't watch war films at all now, not even Saving Private Ryan I'd go to the flicks every week if I had someone to go with, money and if decent films were shown in our town.

Ah, back in the day I used to go at least once a week (even used to bunk off work for afternoon screenings if it was something rare and no-one else fancied going ). Ditto, Minnie did have a rep for being a tad difficult/eccentric but I couldn't source examples for you now. Might have just been spite/idle tittle-tattle. Although she used to come across as difficult in some interviews years ago. Last time I saw her though she was trying to sing

Went to see 'The King's Speech' yesterday and it was excellent, Geoffrey Rush is always fabulous and of course it was Darcy so y'know it's gonna be good and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Helena Bonham Carter was perfect as the Queen Elizabeth but I would have cast a blonder smaller David and a smaller thinner Mrs Simpson...they were okay though.
