There's a slightly abrupt ending to Frankenstein 2 , but maybe its because I was fully expecting the story to be completed ! I hope it isn't LOL I think you'd enjoy these PK I think DK is so prolific , that by the time he was nearing the end of one book , he was thinking of the next one ;D

That could be it! Maybe his editor started spanking him soundly when he turned in fizzly out endings and that's why he got his act together as time went on ;D He's written so many that I now have no idea which ones I have and haven't read

Okay..what have I read since I was last in here ;D
The Gates of Rome The Death of Kings Field of Swords These are the first 3 books in the Emperor series by Conn Iggulden. I didn't have anything else to read so I picked one up off P's pile , and being as we have very different tastes in books I didn't think I'd like it ...I devoured all three in a week ;D The books tell the story of Gaius , the son of a Roman senator and his growth from boy to Legionnaire along with his pal Marcus and his eventual rise to become a Consul in Rome . The author weaves history and imagination together in really believable stories , and I'm looking forward to the next installment of Gaius Julius Caesars path to becoming Emperor ;D
I'll be brief with the rest !
Running Blind- Iris Johansen , her books about forensic sculptor Eve Duncan are always a good read
Cross Bones-Kathy Reichs ...not enough blood and gore and very Da Vinci code like in its premise of Jesus and his extended family , not my fave KR book.
Lee Child- I love the Jack Reacher books..Jack is an ex military policeman and helps folks out of difficulties as he roams the country just doing his thing..ie, staying off the radar , he doesn't appear in any records except high level Pentagon ones ;D
James Patterson- Honeymoon...rubbish !
Sacred Cut - James Hewson A detective story set in Rome ...not bad, not good !
Body Double -Tess Gerritson Nice and gory Tess' books about Boston ME Maura Isles ...this is about how the identical twin she never knew she had appears on her dissecting table !
Karin Slaughter - Faithless about a strange religious sect and how one of their number end up buried alive in a box in the woods
Black Angel- John Connolly I love , love , love this writer ! His series about ex detective Charlie Parker are dark but beautifully written ..this one looks at the possibility of fallen angels on earth looking for the mythical Black Angel of the title with lots of deaths along the way !
Empress Orchid- Anchee Min..the story about the emperor of Chinas' favourite wives , and how Orchid comes to rule when her weak husband loses most of his empire to European forces ... unputdownable ;D
And finally, I've just started reading the latest Jeffrey Deaver, The Twelfth Card ;D

Sounds like it needs to be made into a series, with James in the lead (infact, it sounds a wee bit like that pilot he went for).

Well after having brought around about 22 books off the car boot today I thought I’d come and tell you about some of the ones I’ve read recently, considering I’ve actually read four since having finished at Uni 3 weeks ago. Which for me is pretty good considering I don’t really read very quickly. Bones Buried Deep by Max Allan CollinsNow people on various Bones sites have said that they enjoyed this book, and that it portrayed the show really well. I on the other hand didn’t, the cast seemed really out of character, the story was really lacking in suspense, and that little bit of something that makes you want to keep reading it. Towards the end I kind of had to push myself to pick it up (force it to much of a strong word), in away I felt as though the author had never even watched the show, let alone known it enough to write a book based in that world. Specifically when he put that Booth had blue eyes and Zach wears glasses. It could have something to do with the expectation that it’ll be on the same wave as the Kathy Reich’s books, and it wasn’t even close. I really did try to enjoy it, and some bits were ok, it was just the bits in between, and the lack of in character, characters that spoilt it for me. Then I listened to the Audio Version of Kathy Reich’s Cross Bones, which I’ve already read about a month before. I enjoyed it, naturally, apart from the sputtering and jumping CD’s. Then I read Karin Slaughters Blind sighted, which I really enjoyed in the end. At first, I think I was a bit thrown by it being in third person but I quickly got over it, and into the book. It was a little slow, and I figured out whom the killer was early on in the book…about chapter 4 I think lol, but I really did enjoy it in the end. The tone and medical parts are a bit simpler to understand compared to KR’s books so it proved to be a nice enjoyable and easy read. Then came Post-Mortem by Patricia Cornwell. To be honest with all the reviews on the Kathy Reich’s books mentioning her, I was a bit apprehensive about reading anything by PC. I can’t really explain why lmao maybe it was cause I felt as though I was cheating on our Temp, but after reading an interview with KR where she mention PC and after having come across a feature about PC I figured I’d give them ago, and I’m glad I did. Again much like Blind sighted, I found it a bit slow to get into but once I did I loved her (still not as much as Kathy though….yet). Her style of telling you stuff whilst holding something else back, before she eventually changes completely and contradicts things she mentioned earlier (in a sense, it’s hard to explain) is really very refreshing. It kept it hard to guess who the killer was and I’m glad it did, as I just made me want to read it even quicker than I already was lol. At the moment I’m reading Like a Charm which has been edited by Karin Slaughter, and is one novel separated in to 16 chapters, each of which has been written by a different author, such as Lynda La Plante, John Connolly, and Lee Child. All the stories focus on one charm bracelet, which is the cause or present in what, has so far been quite a few deaths lol, it’s really very interesting to read and see how the various authors have approached the same type of topic. Also the way in which the charm ends in one place, and then at the beginning of the next chapter we usually find out how it was received from the same place lol. I’ve been reading it since about Tuesday and have gotten about half way through by now.

I agree about the series for the Jack Reacher books, but I'm afraid Jack is described as 6' 5" and built like a brick sh...er outhouse ;D Reacher is very much a loner and wasn't that pilot more of a buddy detective thing LOL Ditto...nowhow did i know you'd be reading a slash version of the Emperor stories ;D Wil, I've read most of Pat Cornwalls books, and the first ones were really good, her later ones though are pretty poor in comparison, and I haven't bothered with her last one asit had some direreviews I like the sound of 'The Charm though...I'll have to look out for that one ;D

Drives me nuts too Ditto...these bloomin authors just don't write quick enough ;D
As I couldn't get to sleep this morning for the sultry heat , I thought I'd start reading 'The Lincoln Lawyer ' by Michael Connolly ...wow ! I had to force myself to put the damn thing down 4 hours later , grab a couple of hours kip and then finish it off ;D
Micky Hallan is a defense lawyer who works mostly out of his car ...a Lincoln , hence the title ;D He's asked to defend a rich guy accused of beating up a hooker , who ,despite being found with blood on his clothes , and being restrained by the womans neighbours , swears he's innocent. The plot is fast paced , and you find yourself turning the pages as Micky goes by turns from sleazy defense lawyer with some very dodgy clients , to realising that innocence and guilt are much harder to see than even he thought . Marvellous, and definitely his best since ' The Poet' ;D

I bought that for my mum as part of her birthday present, NN, after rave reviews on Richard&Judy's book club. It sounds absolutely brilliant and the way everyone was mad for it made me so cross that I find it well nigh impossible to book read these days.

I can only seem to read a book when I'm in lying prone in bed these days I've read most of Michael Connolly's books and enjoyed them , but this one is a stunner , and I'm only sad that I put off buying it for so long precisely because of the R&J reccomendation sticker on the front V made me buy 'Empress Orchid' because she'd seen it reviewed on R&J , and I have to admit that that was a page turner too once I read it ( and I only did so, cos I had nothing else to read !), so however much I dislike the oily pair , I should take more notice of their recs ;D

Don't be niffy about R&J, NN, they've injected fresh life into the UK book industry and that has to be a good thing. I've bought quite a few book presents as a result of their recommendations and they've all gone down a storm.
