But your ratings are worked out via Neilson/Nielson boxes; so if lots of households with the boxes adore JM it would have made a difference. Otherwise, not much of a blip. Doesn't matter about most of his fandom tuning in if they don't have boxes.

Wer have - or atl east did have - a similar system in the UK. But it is becoming increasingly discredited as an accurate method of judging an audience.
Maybe a different method with a broader base or whatever would have proved beneficial to shows like Angel with a huge cult following, which was never going to be accurately reflected using Nielson. But I don't think anything could have saved The Mountain as it never built up a fanbase, and had pretty appalling lazy scripts, from what I can see.
It speaks ever more highly of James that he was able to do something with the dreak he had for a script.

I wondered how they did that! Some peeps (not me of course) thought there was a little machine inside the telly to tell them who was watching what.....
