So, at last we have news of new acting work for James... From his official site: Hee, it's kinda ironic as he has been saying that the only roles he was being offered with Spike hair were rock stars, drug addicts etc! Lol. Minus Spike hair her gets ex-rock star ;D But work is work, people get a chance to see our man again. exposure in a new guise (different from Spike, I mean) has to be useful for him. So, any US-ers watch The Mountain? Care to tell us what you think of it? And what do you guys think about the sound of this role?

Yup! ;D Here is the link to the WB's blurb about the show - The Mountain. The only thing I knew about it before was that it had taken over Angel's Wed 9-00 pm slot (grrrrr!) Oh yeah, and Mitch Pileggi being in it. I always loved me Skinner in X Files Quite like Oliver Hudson too, having seen him in Dawson's (and you know how sappily in love with the Creek I was!)

Ok so it's not the roll we all wanted for him, but like PK says it's work and he might get some more exposure this way. ;D
Just went to check out the link and wow there's some sexy guys in this series James will fit in quite nicely I think. Oohhh do you think we'll get to see James on skis I'd love to see him flying down the piste ;D

Yikes I hadn't thought of that! I loathe snow and think skiing should be banished to Room 101!

But after skiing there can be hot-tubbing. *Coaxes* wouldn't you like to indulge in a little hot-tubbing with James, PK? ;D Actually, I've never skiied, not interested, though I like watching slalom etc... It sounds like it could be fun, anyway, skiing or no. I'm all for anything that keeps him on our screens and gives him a different role to play. One leads to another, so here's hoping he does some more stuff like this, plenty of fodder for us to watch.

I suppose as soon as we have the air date, I'll have to mark it on my calendar... damn too bad I don't have a card in my computer... otherwise it'd be ScreenCapCity! ;D

Apparently the show hasn't been performing well in the ratings, so I guess we have to endure more knuckle biting incase it gets cancelled before James' episode airs On the other hand, just think what his appearance could do to the ratings that week, with his loyal cohorts tuning in in droves ;D

Too late, it's out there now! Would anyone be interested in spoilers for James' episode? Unlike his shows, movies etc which are already available and therefore discussion of them is fair game on their threads, I wouldn't want spoilers posted in this thread before the episode airs (other than what the WB oficicially release) but there are ways and means. Oh, and here is the young man playing Sam (James' character's son) - Pretty pic Nice casting. Sam is a regular on the show, btw, so..... Oops, was that a bit of a spoiler?! Sorry!

So, did you find the spoilers, Pix? Ouch! Herc has been known to have dubious taste, for instance in his star ratings for BtVS andf AtS episodes But this is not just him, but what reviewers were saying when The Mountain begtan its run... Variety says: "The SnowC" this ain't. Despite being backed by the team that created last year's obsessively lovable "The OC," WB's sudser "The Mountain" is a cliched mess. A handsome cast and unique setting won't save it from getting buried. … it's amazing the show manages to be boring. …
The Hollywood Reporter says: Angst and brooding are in full cloying bloom … Nobody does self-absorbed twaddle like the WB … The way things play out in the pat and simplistic pilot is not terribly encouraging. … appears to be set amidst snow and slopes primarily to give us plenty of footage of snowboarders hurtling down impossible inclines and high-octane POV shots galore … seems intent on following the time-tested, if overcooked, WB formula of youthful disobedience on full strutting display … The opening teleplay from [Shaun] Cassidy, Stephanie Savage, Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo is more about mining mountains of anguish than searching to find the honest humanity inside the story. And David Barrett's direction on the premiere is at least as concerned with showcasing the beauty of the winter playground as generating believability from the stereotypical personalities who populate it. After a while, it seems that the character names and series titles change at the WB but not the story lines or the motivations of those who drive them. Indeed, "The Mountain" feels a lot like fellow WB drama "One Tree Hill" in its humorless, irony challenged outlook and yearn-baby-yearn sensibility.
Entertainment Weekly says: With exec producers like McG (and recent addition Shaun Cassidy), you’d think this thing would move faster and be more fun, or at least a lot soapier. These kinds of shows either find their tone quickly or fade fast – we’re intrigued but skeptical.
Guide says: We agree with David, who tells his big brother, “It’s just a big rock!” Nice scenery can’t disguise the blandness of this tiresome, clichéd soap.
The Los Angeles Times says: … a mountain of cheese … a mess of bad acting, bad writing and, most important, bad mountain views. ...
USA Today gives it one star (out of four) and says: … The Mountain is not, alas, trashy in the fun, high-gloss, high-camp Dynasty sense. It's complete garbage in the dull, lifeless WB soap sense — a show so inept, rehashed and formulaic it makes One Tree Hill look original. Indeed, you might almost think WB was joking, except the network has never shown this much flair for comedy. … As humorless as it is witless, as badly acted as it is badly written, The Mountain is so relentlessly predictable, it's not even worth watching to mock. All right, there is some fun to be had in trying to decide which actor is giving the absolute worst performance — my money's on Hudson — but even that pleasure wears thin pretty quickly. And WB thinks this can be a hit? Please. Ain't no viewer high enough. www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=18441A mountain of cheese?! ;D ;D Oh dear, I don't know. The ratings are seriously bad so the show stands a chance of being pulled real fast.... but we want to at least see James manage to rise above all this and do something with the script and the part, and shine (and help make those around him shine too, as he is wont to do). Don't we? Smoochy on another board does watch the show, and she was giving some background info on Sam Tunney, and how they actually introduced JM's character at the end of the last aired episode. You even see a prone figure who is Ted, but not any features. He's just a lump of man being covered with a blankie by Sam, apparently. Anyway, they repeat the shows, so it is going to be screened again this Saturday. US-ers may want to have a look to get some context. I like the sound of Sam, btw.
