last time there was a photo session with James - one was included in the price and you could pay for up to 3 others. And there was autographs, one included again. Going to the US is fun and easy. And last time, loads of us stayed in the same hotel at Newark airport which is about as close as you can get for SOPAC. There was general sharing of taxis to the venue and it was all good fun. |Do it - you wont regret it! (do you need a visa from germany - we just do the visa waiver thing online for free - as long as you fill it in up to 72 hours before you travel its fine. (you still have to do a green form on the plane for immigration as well) - website for ESTA is HERE)

Thanks Rosie. But I`m in the UK in that time. You know I`ll stay in the UK till End of February 2010. But I`m still German. So should I still fill out the German Visa Version forumlar? And how long is the flight to New Jersy? And do you plan to fly to this Convention? Is that expensive I mean the flight to New Jersy? I fortunatly have a credit card now :-) ;D and a passport too. ;D Okay that what you told me from your US Con experiences sounds pretty good. One last question: Are the hotels expensive in the USA?

blackandwhiterose - I have pm'd you with information!
My lovely friend and roomie Magie Tagie, who is the worlds greatest organiser has asked that this email be passed onto to everyone about Valentines - shes got a block of rooms at a special rate for the event at the Hilton!
"For anyone thinking of going to the Valentine’s Event at SOPAC, here is some info. Unfortunately there is no where to stay close to SOPAC itself, so one of the better places to stay is close to Newark Airport. Its where many of us stayed last year.
Last year many of us stayed at the Holiday Inn Newark Airport, which was ok and cheap but many of us didn’t like the bad customer service we got and the hotel itself was not the nicest. However the current rate (as per their website) for February 12-15 is $65.67 per night.
However I was able to get a block of rooms at a similar rate at a little nicer hotel:
Hilton Newark Airport 1170 Spring Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey, United States 07201-2114 Tel: 1-908-351-3900
The rate is $65.00 per night; this does not included any taxes or fees which are about 17% (standard with all hotels) or parking.
Also anyone who decides not to go or doesn’t get a ticket can cancel the reservation unto February 11, 2010.
So if you are interested please call 1-800-HILTONS and give them the code “JME” (which is James Marsters Event). And you will get the $65.00 rate.
This rate has been set up for February 12 to 15, 2010 but it can be extended to a few more nights before or after as well.
They currently only have rooms with 2 double beds set aside for us, but if some one needs something different please ask me or if anyone has any questions and wants to contact me please do so at magtag@primus.ca
Also PLEASE pass this along so that everyone who is interested can see it."

I'm thinking of making the trip to NJ again... although I hate that it's on a Sunday as it makes it very hard to NOT miss a few days of classes. Not sure if I can handle the 15 hour drive again... Thanks for that info, Rosie! That sounds like an awesome set up... definitely would be better than the Holiday Inn which is also where I stayed. I'd definitely love to go back again because I got to meet basically one person last time. I failed at that socializing game.

From Facebook page
BE MY VALENTINE: SATURDAY DATE WITH JAMES
For all those attending the South Orange BE MY VALENTINE event we are offering an opportunity to 10 lucky fans to join James at a private movie screening of Baz Luhrmann’s “Romeo and Juliet” followed up by lunch and a round table discussion of the film. This is a paid event and here is how it will work:
1. Starting now through midnight EST Wednesday, February 10, 2010 you may place as many bids as you like to secure your position in the comment section of this note, below. (Bids entered anywhere other than the comment section of this note will not be accepted)
2. The initial bidding starts at $100 and must increase by $10 (in other words, no matching bids, if the current bid is $120 then the next bid must be $130 or higher)
3. When the clock strikes midnight EST on February 10, 2010 the bidding is closed. The top 10 bidders will be notified and verified. All 10 will then be responsible for paying the lowest amount of the top 10 bids (for example if the highest bid is $350 and the lowest of the 10 is $200, then everyone pays $200)
4. The top 10 will be contacted individually with the specific details for Saturday. The event will take place in South Orange and will begin at 11 AM.
Please, no comments below other than bids.
GOOD LUCK!
