here it is - the Rosie Ramble for the dinner and movie date!
Rosie goes on a dinner and a movie date with James (and 10 other people!!)
The Be My Valentine event with James in South Orange had been planned and booked for some considerable time – flights, hotel etc and Magie had organised a Saturday in NYC for us too and I was really looking forward to it all. And then the chance of a place on the dinner and a movie with James on the Saturday came up about three weeks before, and alternative plans had to be put in place just in case!
I had got up at 4.40am on the Thursday morning to be in at the end of the bidding on Facebook for a place on the dinner-and-a-movie-date, since it ended at midnight EST. Bidding was brisk in the last few minutes and I was one of the eager participants – and I got a place! So my excuse is that it was very very early and I wasn’t really awake…! But I was so happy that I was going when the winners were confirmed by Steve.
There had been discussion about the choice of film – the Baz Luhrman version of Romeo and Juliet. I hadn’t seen it for a long time (it came out in 1996) and I didn’t like it when I did, so it was going to be interesting hearing James’s feelings about it. I had a quick look through various reviews (good and bad!) and watched a few extracts on YouTube before I left so I wouldn’t look completely stupid!!
So on Saturday 13th Feb, I had a lovely morning with Magie and Colleen as we took the boat out to Liberty island and saw the Statue of Liberty up close and personal – as we were so early there were very few other people about which was great. A quick look at Ellis Island and then we took the boat to Battery Park and then a cab for a bit of shopping in Bloomingdales (I didn’t buy anything – no money after the auction!!) And then it was high tea in the Russian Tea Rooms, which was just as much fun as last time – they do make the best tea in there, so I was very happy!
Magie, being such a superb organiser, had kindly worked out how I should get to South Orange from NYC and knew which train I had to be on. So she made sure that we left the tea rooms early enough so I could get a cab to Penn station whilst she and Colleen went onto MOMA. And it was a good thing she did give me lots of time as the traffic was bad and I had about 10 minutes once I got there – and Penn station is huge and I had to buy a ticket and get to the right track. I was starting to get a bit panicky as I queued to get my ticket, but I checked the board and there was only one train at 4.11 so I knew that was mine, and I made it with several minutes to spare!!
The journey was about 40 minutes and I had to make sure I got off at South Orange – not North Orange or East Orange, or just plain Orange all of which the train went through, so I had to be vigilant! I had about an hour to kill before we were being picked up at 6pm from outside the little Starbucks. I thought I would go and have a bit of a wander around the town, but just as I was pausing at a cross walk trying to decide which way to go, I heard someone calling my name. It was Christa, who had been on the same train and so after a quick conflab so we went into the Starbucks – and found Christine already there. We were then joined by Karo for whom this was going to be her first time meeting James! We were all finding the whole thing very surreal but very exciting too and I didn’t mind admitting I was getting butterflies about it and getting very excited as the time moved around towards 6pm.
We were gradually joined by Kyle, Patti and Julie and we were wondering where the others were as time was getting on. Then there was Jean outside pointing at us and Steve was with her. He had wondered where we all were, hadn’t thought to look in Starbucks - like we were going to wait outside in the cold!!
Steve said he would take 4 people and 4 more go with Craig and he would come back for the others. I opted to go with Steve and had Kyle, Patti and Julie with me. It was another of those hilarious moments when three ‘traditionally built’ ladies try and squeeze in the back seat of a standard sized car! Julie got the front as she had a bouquet with her and Kyle and Patti voted that I had to go in the middle as I was the shortest. There was no way I could have got my seat belt on, but I was so well jammed in there it would have taken a fairly major impact to dislodge me even slightly! Luckily it was only a couple of minutes drive to what turned out to be, as we had suspected, Steve’s very lovely house and on arrival we all popped out of the doors like corks out of a bottle…!
Steve took us down to the basement which had three small cosy rooms and a larger one. There was a long table in that one, so we all claimed our chairs and Steve showed us where the drinks were. I was being nosy and checking out his DVD collection whilst we all talked and grinned at each other and made friends with McDuff, Steve’s West Highland white terrier. Steve then reappeared (wearing a fetching pair of oven gloves!) to say that food was in the other room and no he hadn’t cooked it, it was from a local restaurant. We were to help ourselves and he would go and fetch James.
So we all started to check out the food, crowding around the small table (very tasty parmesan chicken or tomato penne and lots of salad choices) and were helping ourselves when James walked in. He was dressed in dark grey trousers, black dress shoes and a brown jumper/sweater/pullover (depending on your country of origin!) with several big buttons at the neckline. He had two silver chains round his neck and a heavy silver chain bracelet on his left wrist. He grinned at us as he said hello and there was a moment of stunned silence as we all saw that James was missing one of his top front teeth on the left hand side, though he didn’t seem to be at all bothered by its absence! He moved to start hugging people and murmuring hello and managed to squeeze his way round the table to get to everyone. I had been hungry up until then, but suddenly eating became a very unimportant compared to getting a hug from James. As he worked his way round the table, I plonked my plate uncaringly on the nearest surface so I would have both hands free – and then he was there in front of me, eyes laughing and a gorgeous smile on his face. Both arms went round me and he hugged me gently but in close, so my chin was on his right shoulder and he was murmuring “Hey Rosie, good to see you!” by my ear. My arms had gone round his waist and I said something similar back to him about how great it was to see him again as we both squeezed the other briefly, and then it was over. But however brief, a James hug is a James hug and is to be treasured.
Having greeted everyone who was there (Adrian and Chad hadn’t got there yet which was worrying as they had left the hotel in a taxi before Jean and Brenda!) James joined in helping himself to food and started talking about songs for valentines and appropriate for Romeo and Juliet. He mentioned a couple and then Julie and I both said about Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits and were quoting lines to him “ ..Romeo, yeah, I used to have a scene with him…”
We moved back to the table and although we had assumed James would sit at the head of the table and had bagged chairs nearest to him on purpose (yes, I unashamedly tried to sit close as possible along with nearly everyone else!!) he decided to sit at the other end of the table, so I was 3 places away after all! But it didn’t matter really as it was very intimate anyway. Bread was passed round and James even took some – muttering about “carbs”- but I don’t know if he ate it or not. He was quite happy to eat and talk at the same time and tucked in with gusto! I’m not bothered at all about eating in front of James – I just like food too much – though I know some people don’t like it and cant, but even my appetite did a bit of a runner as the surreal-ness of the situation kept hitting me – “I’m eating dinner with James!” - and so we didn’t do justice to the excellent food.
It was about now that Adrian and Chad finally arrived – their taxi had taken them on a 1 hour 20 minute tour of various parts of New Jersey – so we cheered them in! James seemed pleased there was one other guy in the room so he had some support!
Patti had brought James a grapefruit from the tree in her garden, which he insisted on peeling right there and then and passing bits round to everybody so we could all share it, jokingly saying that we could all share, especially if someone had a cold! I had to then apologise and say that I did in fact have a cold (a mild but runny one that developed on the flight over – though I didn’t have any trouble with it the whole time I was at Steve’s house!) but it didn’t seem to put James off!
There was a lot of talk about various things at the table, most of which I can’t remember now! Then James said we had to talk about the film and he explained how he thought that it wasn’t a romance, it was about technology. The advances in metallurgy and the development of the rapier, a light narrow blade, at the time meant that weapons were far more widely available – not just the ruling classes could afford them and be armed. And, as there was no police, a man had to defend his own house and family, which led to huge amounts of deaths amongst the middle classes (no records kept for the commoners!) Bodies would have been lying in the street – the slightest insult could lead to a fight to the death (hence the whole Montague/Capulet thing starting off by one side thumbing their nose at the other) James’s theory is that Shakespeare would have been stepping over said bodies in the street and seeing what he considered the crushing of society and humanity. Romeo and Juliet is about the crushing of young love used to illustrate that point, as everyone has experienced that feeling to some degree. (And if anyone remembers it differently – please remind me!)
This was such a completely different angle to come at it from, such a different take on it - not an angle I would have even thought of, much less considered. I should have guessed there would be nothing straightforward about James’s theory! He said he loved the film, which was an exception as he doesn’t like Shakespeare plays done out of their own timeframe normally. And then it was time to go and see the movie.
Steve moved a curtain aside in one room to reveal yet another room, which had a biggish movie screen and a ceiling projector, and a few framed movie posters on the walls, including one of Dragonball Evolution. There were big comfy leather seats to sit in. I went for the back right hand corner as everyone else tried to decide where to sit. James was going to sit at the back in the centre on a high director’s chair! Some one asked Steve about the movie posters, why he had those particular ones and he admitted he had bought them at a con, but they were mostly landmark films for their genre (the only one I can remember was Rent). So I couldn’t resist asking “So what’s your excuse for Dragonball then??” which got me a laugh from Steve and a few mild protests from round the room – including from James. (I didn’t really mean it, but it was just too good a lead-in for me to turn down!)
People were still getting organised as an extra chair had to be brought in and talking generally, and amongst the hubbub during this, James looked at me, grinning and said “And now I better go and pee!” and disappeared to the bathroom! Not quite sure why he felt he had to tell me….!
Steve then couldn’t get the projector to work and admitted he was useless when it came to things like that – Craig had to sort it out! – and then once it was working, the lights were lowered, the curtain drawn across and we were left with James and the film. James had the remote and therefore the pause button and said that if anyone didn’t understand anything, put their hand up and he would pause the film and we could talk about it.
From the beginning, the film is loud, bright and in your face. The background of ‘Verona Beach’ looks like a cross between Miami and Mexico City. It’s brash, over blown and over-the-top – just as Shakespeare intended said James!!
I think James paused the film first himself to explain something about what was being said. Think it was about the initial insult between the families, done as a shoot-out in a gas station. It did seem very odd at first hearing Shakespeare’s words and phrasing being spoken by what were basically gangland thugs, and it takes me a while to tune into Shakespeare’s dialect and I miss stuff to begin with until I get the rhythm of it, so it helped having Professor James on hand to explain! Also, early on James quite happily admitted that he didn’t always know what was meant by some of the lines.
The water theme came up quite soon as it was used throughout the film in different ways. Romeo and Juliet’s first meeting looking through the aquarium at each other. James admitted he hadn’t really noticed it before how much it was used. So much symbolism and recurring themes in this film, little things here and there that others spotted – and we never even got onto all the foreshadowing!
Mercutio is the best role in Romeo and Juliet I think and the guy playing him as a cross-dressing party animal was fantastic. It prompted a lot of discussion about whether Mercutio was in fact in love with Romeo – it seemed to come out like that in this version, though James disagreed and said that if he meant it, Shakespeare would have been blatant about saying so. Though as evidence piled up, I think Brenda had started to convince James by the end!
As I was sitting in the back corner, I had Julie alongside me and then James sitting next to her high up in his directors chair. In the dark, I could half turn my head and then let my eyes slide across so I could watch James instead of the film. And it was wonderful to watch. He was so into it – so passionate and excited and so enthusiastic about it all. And so emotionally involved! During the balcony scene (which is actually done around and then in a swimming pool) after James had just paused the film and said that the scene had some of the most beautiful words ever written, I slid my eyes across unobtrusively and the intense concentration on his face and the look in his eyes was so powerful – and in the light from the screen I could see the tears on his face too. The words were obviously affecting him very strongly That made my heart ache a bit, seeing that unabashed intensity – but it was after that when James paused the film that he said that he had woken up a few days before and realised he was so totally in love.
I wasn’t aware of anyone else watching James as I could see nearly everyone else in the room from my vantage point, and he wasn’t aware of me watching him so none of the emotion he was showing was put on for effect. He was totally absorbed by it all, wrapped up in the story, laughing out loud at the funny bits too – full-on James giggles - though we all seemed too absorbed or too shy to laugh out loud like him! Even though he was getting caught up in all the emotions, he was professional enough to be able to switch it off if anyone asked a question. I was really impressed by his ability to be able to disguise the fact that he had tears in his eyes when he spoke.
At one point, James paused the film and asked quietly “Who here has got someone to cuddle at night?” After a slightly stunned silence, only about 3 people put up their hands. James sighed a little and said with so much feeling “We are the lucky ones. We are so lucky!” before starting the film again. And again when it was paused for a discussion about something else, and I can’t remember the context this came up in - James was saying that his partner’s pleasure was really important to him and giving it was a large part of his own pleasure and that it was really difficult to convince them of that. Maybe I don’t remember because I just went off into a very happy place at that moment…!
There was some very funny bits – the party scene where Tybalt is dressed as an astronaut and having described him as “what an asshole!” James pointed out that all the air and oxygen couplings on the space suit were in the right place! Geek boy! Twice when there was a song in the film, James asked us if we thought it was Shakespeare’s words or modern and both times someone said “ Shakespeare” and both times James replied “ Nope – modern!” with a knowing grin! He was pointing out that the words of modern songs still fitted in perfectly with the dialect. And I leave it to Jean to tell the story of James mishearing her comment and thinking she said that Romeo was jerking off and telling her with a huge smile that she was so dirty…!
The only time I put my hand up was to say that I liked all the clever word play that was going on in the background and the Shakespearean alliterations – the advertising hoarding for “L’Amour” that was painted like a Coke sign and signs about “The Merchant of Verona Beach”. I admitted that I am terrible for watching what’s going on in the background of films instead of the main action, so I notice stuff like that. James grinned at me and said he had never noticed any of it and added “and Baz put it in there just for you!” And I pointed out that the sort of ruined open building on the beach where a lot of the action took place looked exactly like a huge theatrical stage.
As we were getting to the climax of the movie and the tension grew and feelings were running high round the room, I slid my eyes across again to watch James watching the movie. The light from the screen showed there were tears on his face again and at one point his head went down and I could see his shoulders were shaking slightly – I think he was actually sobbing. That really got me – that he was so deeply involved with the story that it provoked that reaction. I loved him more than ever from that point, for being so passionate about a story and for being so open about it. Just amazing to witness.
So we worked towards the big finish with some almost pantomime-like responses from people, as there are many just-missed chances for it to come right. Even though you know the outcome, it still makes you groan with frustration! And we were all pretty emotionally shot at the end, including me even though I still didn’t really like this version of the story. But having James there to explain it and having him approach it from such a different angle made it far more watchable for me. He made it interesting and informative and of course his enthusiasm was infectious. Everyone had different and varied views on it all and so it got us all talking – which is just what James wanted I think!
The lights went up and we all started to move. Steve pulled James’s chair back out of the way so we could get out but then noticed that James had spilt his drink there in the doorway so he went to fetch a cloth to wipe it up. So none of us could get out for a minute. Jean was sitting up looking over the back of her chair and James went to grab it and pull her and the chair forward, but had to stop because of the spill. He then just sat on the arm of the nearest chair and joked that yes, it was his fault; he had got over-emotional and just lost control…! We all watched Steve clean up and Jean teased him for being a neat freak, asking James if he was always like this. (James –“Look at his house! It’s much neater than mine!”)
So we were able to get up and leave the viewing room. Steve pointed out that there was desert on the table for anyone who wanted, but I made a beeline for the drinks table, saying “I need a drink!” in desperate tones! As I was pouring, I asked James if he had liked any other of Baz Luhrman’s films – had he liked Moulin Rouge? (I loved it!) No, he didn’t like it at all. (It seems to me you either love it or hate it) I would have liked to have asked him more about that but with so many people clamouring for his attention, he was quickly sidetracked. We were all milling about the room, getting drinks and talking. The desert was cute half chocolate covered heart-shaped cookies. I didn’t feel like eating one then, but I put a couple in my bag to take back for Magie and Ami Sue.
James then said “Let’s sit down again” so we could carry on talking and in a rather brazen manoeuvre on my part, I sat down in the seat at the end, right by where James had sat before – and yes he did sit there again. So I was next to him at the head of the table, to his left, sitting at right angles, which put me in a perfect position to just watch him. Which I did. A lot! And that’s always a pleasure, but this was something else. Being that close, to be able to watch every emotion and every nuance cross his face, see his eyes change – especially when he turned to look at me. Such a beautiful face - and those eyes! So much expression – the emotion and the passion in them viewed from close up was very special and it was hard not to end up in a mesmerised stare!
(And of course sitting there also put me in the happy position of spending the next fifteen or so minutes having my right knee constantly being bumped by James’s and our feet making contact too. I can just about say I played footsie with James under the table - and it was lovely!)
Being about as subtle as a sledgehammer, in my normal up-front way, I had to ask him about the missing tooth. He explained that all his front teeth were loose, due to having been punched in the face so much during his life (Someone asked “Professionally or personally?” to which he replied “Both!” with a grin) and as he ground his teeth a lot, he had a mouth guard and he had forgotten to use it when flying back from the UK the week before and the tooth had come out whilst he was eating breakfast. He said he would get it put back in – he had a really good dentist who was also a sculptor so it wasn’t a problem. This led onto talk about dreams you have when all your teeth fall out as someone had dreamt that the night before – James said he had had the same dream too – and trying to remember what it meant – there were several different theories ( I thought that it was one of the most common dreams of all, but I might be wrong)
There was some concern from Brenda and several others at this point as McDuff had come back in and had managed to get hold of one of the cookies and was eating it under the table and chocolate is very bad for dogs. Steve didn’t seem too worried about it though, he just made McDuff leave the room again (It turned out he had stolen the cookie from my bag! He obviously sniffed it out. Chad told me later he watched him unzip my bag with his teeth, stick his nose in and pull one out! I just hoped to God that McDuff was going to be okay – I really didn’t want to be known as the fan that inadvertently killed Steve’s dog!)
For me, a really interesting moment was when Jean (who was sitting next to me) was saying something about Patricia and said “she” instead of her name. I happened to glance back to James at that point in time to see and hear him say quietly “Patricia”. And oh my God, the look on his face when he said it! A gentle smile, but his eyes just glowed. He really loves her! And there was so much love and strength of feeling just put into that one word. I could feel it from where I sat – it was emanating from him and it just melted me. I really hope I have someone say my name like that one day!
Then Steve came back in and started making break-up-the-party noises, and said there was a gift for each of us and called on James to hand them out.– each a square box wrapped in plain white paper with a red bow on top. James stood up and moved across to take the first one and then turned to give the first gift to me. He approached very slowly with a gorgeous smile on his face as all his attention was focused on me. He moved slightly behind my right shoulder as he handed me the present, and then, as he bent down, I realised I was going to get a kiss. So I turned my face slightly up towards him and I got the most slow, sweet, gentle kiss on the cheek. It was lovely! Im sure he murmured something to me as well, but I was in a totally blissful James-fog by now and I don’t remember what!
James then moved round the table to each person in turn, totally focusing on them, giving them their gift and the same slow gentle kiss as he gave me – though he did as Chad if it was okay for him to kiss his wife, and then promising not to kiss Chad! Jean got a hug from behind with her kiss as James gave her the gift, and then as he had one more left to hand out, he started to come towards me again as I was in the last seat. Thinking quickly, I said “You’ve already done me” and indicated the box on the table, and then added “but you can kiss me again if you like!” and turned my left cheek up towards him with a cheeky grin
James laughed at that, as did everyone else - but he didn’t turn away, he just kept on coming towards me!, One hand on my shoulder, he bent down again and yes, I got a second kiss high up on my cheek, which was just as gentle and slow and sweet as the first one! Absolutely wonderful!
The last gift was for Brenda who was standing behind me, so as James turned to her, Jean said “I’m opening mine” so I joined in and opened mine as well as they were all the same. It was a pretty little glass candy dish – with a few candies in it – a lovely memento of a wonderful evening.
James was still talking with Brenda behind us, and then he said “Lets get everyone in on this – we were talking about “What is love?””
So we had a bit more of a group discussion about that, but then Steve was really starting to try and shoo us all out. He said to be fair that those that arrived first would go first, and as I was one of them, I was going to be in the early car loads. And of course everybody wanted to have a little time each with James to say thank you and goodbye. He was standing up now by his chair at the end of the table so he could hug each person, and as I went to retrieve my bag from the floor before I approached him Chad told me about McDuff stealing the cookies – so I got a couple of fresh ones!
About three people had already had their time with James when I asked Julie if she wanted to go in front of me – she declined, so I was up next. James caught me up in a big hug, which was lovely and as we drew away so we could see each others faces, he leaned in and kissed me right by my mouth, and I automatically kissed him back in about the same place. So I had three James kisses altogether and every one was really special!
James didn’t let go of me, he was holding onto my arms under my elbows and I was holding onto him the same way as we talked, right up close to each other – I told him that I thought Patricia was gorgeous when I had met her at Hallowhedon. James then said that she had been really nervous about meeting people because of all the shit that had been written about her previously and she was so happy “when you were all so nice to her”
I replied fiercely that I had seen some of it and I wasn’t going to condemn someone from other people’s views – I wanted to make up my own mind which is why I talked to her. I knew that I couldn’t know her in anyway after just 5 minutes conversation, but she was lovely and I told him about her giving me the balloon with his autograph which was so sweet. I’m really glad that I was able to tell James about that. Especially as it led to more huggage!
James was still holding onto my arms and I to his as we broke from that second hug so he was looking in my eyes from very close up as he said to me, smiling “ Rosie, you’re a bright spot in my life. You really are!”
I was all kinds of flustered then – as yet again James gave me the nicest of compliments right to my face. I said thank you (I think) and then said I would just have to give him another hug after that. So I did and James hugged me back, holding onto me tightly for a few seconds and I was able to say quietly “I love you” to which he responded equally quietly “I love you too Rosie” right by my ear.
Well you couldn’t better that for a great end to the evening, so having said “I’ll see you tomorrow” I finally took my leave of James and went upstairs and having used the washroom (very tasteful décor!) I was ready to leave with Steve again and I think there was Julie, Christa, Karo and me this time for the short ride back to South Orange station (I wasn’t in the middle either!) We all thanked Steve for his hospitality and letting us into his home (I did say I thought he might have blindfolded us first!) and I gave him a Valentines chocolate as I got out of the car. Christa, Karo and I stood on the pavement for a minute saying what an incredible evening it had been and then we were joined by Patti, Kyle and Christine and spent a few minutes saying more of the same!
Christine had kindly offered me a lift back to the hotel – she was driving into New York – and we had a major heart to heart on the way back. We also got lost several times despite the satnav, because we were so wrapped up in our conversation, we weren’t listening to it! It meant I didn’t get back to the Hilton until just gone 11pm, where I had to give Jude, Mary and Alona a detailed report in the bar before I could go upstairs to see Magie and tell her all about it too.
So that was my dinner and a movie date with James. And yes, I know we paid for the privilege, but it was a truly fabulous evening and worth every penny. It was a great group of people – we mostly knew each other and so were comfortable together – and James was in his element! Being able to talk to everyone in such a relaxed atmosphere and then share his love and knowledge of the film and Shakespeare with us and discuss it in detail. He would have happily kept talking for hours, his enthusiasm and excitement about it all certainly came across – just wonderful. And yet again, he managed to tug on my heart strings and make me fall in love with him just a little bit more just by being himself.
A very wonderful, interesting, different and insightful evening which will stay with me for a long time, because it was so very special and it was James, of course, who made it so.

Ah Rosie you know I love your reports. This one is so nice. I didn`t understand every word I have to admit this (yeah my English is not perfect sorry but its okay ;-) ) but anyway its nice to hear that you´ve enjoyed that event so much and that you had a wonderful time there and that the hugs from James were fantastic. I would feel strange when James would hug me ´cause you know, I don`t really know him thats it, I don`t have a problem with him he`s very sweet. Oh nice Patti was there too. Did you call her Patti? I don`t know if she likes that. But you know I love her hair and she has such a sweet nose. She should love herself she´s so beautiful. Please don`t kick me but I don`t like that Romeo & Juliet movie with Leonardo Di Caprio and Clare Danes. You know it was just too modern. As I told my mum she was like: "You sound like your grandmother. " ;D ;D

I loved the Claire Danes one but don't remember any space stuff. Am I getting mixed up as usual? Is there another R&J I haven't seen?

Oh nice Patti was there too. Did you call her Patti? I don`t know if she likes that. But you know I love her hair and she has such a sweet nose. She should love herself she´s so beautiful. Not as in Patricia - this was Patti B she of the Patti Report, from California who has been a James fan since 2002 And I didnt like the film either - it was more fun with James explaining it, but I still prefer the traditional versions! And Ditto, the space suit was just a fancy dress costume that Tybalt was wearing at the party... ;D

Thanks for the clarification Rosie. One scene of this modern movie confused me very much: Tybalt Julias cousin sad he would take out his sword, but he took out his gun. How absurd is that? And that the Montague Boys kinda burned down the gas station very weird, and then the Party at the Capulet house was so strange and unusual, you know I couldn`t cope with the fact, that they made this play such a modern one and then the drugs at the party oh my god. I think even Shakespeare wouldn`t like this modern version of his play. He`s kinda lucky, that he doesn`t have to see this.

Cleverly the makes of gun used were "Sword" and "Rapier" you could see the trademarks on the guns I loved that ;D

Yeah Deb, the shootout and spotting the names was the moment I knew I was going to enjoy the movie ;D
I have a sneaky feeling Mr S would have revelled in all the ways to get out his words and themes to as big an audience as possible. It's exciting to imagine what he would have been involved in now.
