Personal messages from James Marsters “I had an awesome birthday and want to thank all of my fans who sent me so many good wishes and gifts (you shouldn’t have!). I think this is going to be an amazing year and all your love and support certainly is the best way to start it. You all rock!” James --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“To everyone at Support Spike, you all blow me away! Your continued support and enthusiasm and tenaciousness is unreal. You are the best “support” any actor could ask for. THANK YOU from the bottom of my soulless character :-) “ James aka Spike

A new message:
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Vulkon event in Oakland. I had an awesome weekend and I hope that you all did too. It’s very cool to look up and see some many familiar faces. I appreciate all your support and enthusiasm for something that quite frankly I do out of love – which is acting. To be able to act and have it so appreciated makes me one of the luckiest guys ever. I hope to be announcing future appearances for 2005 sometime in the next month or so. Until then, be well and rock on! - James
Ooooh, I am pleased he is planning next year's appearances. I wasa wee bit twitchy incase he was going to ease out of them altogether.

Uh-oh, Steve's got his dander up! And for those of us who have been daft enough to read all the crap that has been circulating (or should I say circulated by two or three people, and I use that term loosely ) about JM and also the Halloween event, we know what some of this new message at James' site is talking about. To all convention attendees - I have received a lot of e-mails expressing many opinions about recent conventions that James has been a part of. I am going to address these once and only once to bring some clarity and truth to the table – please do not e-mail me to either apologize or debate, as neither is necessary. First, no one is ever forced to attend a convention – fans choose to attend all on their own. Hopefully, it should be a fun experience where you get to see friends and have a chance to meet the talent (although acknowledged often times too briefly). Second, there will always be people who choose to see the glass as half empty and are very negative. It is odd to me that these people continue to come to the conventions but seemingly have a miserable time and want everyone else to also– think about it. Third, rumors and supposed conversations are just that and unless you hear or see something with your own eyes and ears why believe it – especially when it is negative and hurtful.
SO – let’s touch on some of the nastier rumors:
1. James is very proud and excited about the event we are producing in London. It should prove to be a fun, accessible, and unique convention for the fans that will be joining us. He has never bad mouthed the event or suggested to anyone not to come and have a great time with everyone. Furthermore, there are no other “supposed” events for him in the UK at a later time.
2. Julie Caitlin Brown – James and I are still very much working with Julie and have always appreciated all of her support.
3. Future conventions – yes, there will be future conventions in the United States. Whether James and I produce them or whether James attends as a guest shouldn’t concern the fans. All that should concern the fans is whether or not they have a great time and are treated with respect. Perhaps if James and I do produce any future conventions then you the fans may be guaranteed to be treated with the utmost respect.
James has always enjoyed attending the conventions and showing his appreciation to the fans who have helped make his career so successful so far. He hopes to be able to continue to be available to attend future conventions; however, if the negativity out weighs the enjoyment then it may just make it impossible to continue. My suggestion would be to only worry about your individual experience and not to get caught up in the rumor mill. I say all of this with the utmost respect and appreciation for everything the fans have done and look forward to the next time we can all be together in the spirit of support and love.
Best,
Steve Himber (manager for James Marsters)

Oh dear. I really don't think that this message was targetted at those people who had every right to complain if they thought they were unfairly treated at Vulkon (in autograph lines, and re the gifts thing, and what not). But those people do seem to think Steve Himber is having a go at them (telling them to put up or shut up at Cons in effect). Because they probably very sensibly have not read or sought out the controversial shit that has been doing the rounds the last week or so (personal allegations about JM, and also what he allegedly said about the Halloween event), and so don't realise that people have been emailing Steve to let him know about these allegations which were being posted on the net by a tiny group of people. I think once Steve H had been alerted to the situation, some of the things being said crossing over lines that to me are unforgivable, he had to say something. It's unortunate that it has led to some innocent bystanders being hurt by the perceived tone and implication, though. And no, I didn't want discussion of the gossip and nastiness on the board before Steve's message, and it won't be happening now either. The perpetrators have had more than enough publicity and are probably as gleeful as all hell

Must have missed it all, anyway. Glad of it, would only have got stroppy and upset. Hope the people who had things to complain about rightfully aren't too put out... sometimes, constructive criticism (if given as such) can be useful, and help make for a better event next time around... but I'm guessing from the above, that wasn't the spirit some stuff was intended in - and that's just stupid Constructive criticism good, bitching and back-biting bad. (and try telling that to politicians at the same time lol)

The stuff that people were worried enough to email SH about that I know of had absolutely nothing to do with the organisation etc of Oakland Vulkon, although I am sure some people have indeed sent Steve their own concerns about that.

James always words it so much better HALLOWEEN 2004 – London “ I met with the organizers of the London event this weekend and both David and I are really excited about what a rocking, kick-ass weekend we are going to have with the fans who can attend. We know that it may be too pricey for some, but those who will be there will be amazed at how cool this weekend will be. Lot’s of new photos, great give away gifts (one in every ten person will get a gift) and unusual never done before activities! The organizers are really working hard to guarantee that each and every fan will walk away feeling great – which is really important to David and I. For those of you who can’t make it this year, I hope to do it again next year. See you all soon in London” - James
By the way SH's message has vanished
