Bit late I know, and some of you will have seen it in my lj already
Friday ;D
M and I were staying in the Holiday Inn at Kings Cross,although they insist on saying its in Bloomsbury *rollseyes*, and a very nice room it was too with its comfy double beds...one each I hasten to add, although dressed in those criminally short jimjams , I have no doubt M would have insisted I sleep in the bath if there'd just been the one bed *g*
We managed to get a half decent kip , although I hadn't noticed the 'pillow menu' and could have called down for a couple of number 7s instead of the house bricks the previous occupant had ordered !
Breakfast was oodles of coffee and Jaffa cakes, which M had bought to try after hearing everyone rave about them the last time she was here . I showed her the 'Full moon , half moon, total eclipse ' trick ...several times , and then called Teebs and Miss K to come along and get a cab with M to the Club Quarters hotel, whilst I set off for Victoria to collect ...Victoria LOL.
Found V pretty much straightaway and Pix called to say she was in the Lush shop in Victoria Plaza
(iz surprised not !) TS and Wil met up with us near the food court after much confusion about which floor it was on * doh...my fault ,I can't tell up and down now as well as left and right *
Had a bite to eat then set off by taxi to join the others in Gracechurch st.
After much confusion (again) V and I settled into our room then had a quick mosey round Leadenhall Market opposite the hotel with TS, Wil, Miss K and Teebs ...can I just say fudge here , the most delicious home-made fudge stall caught my eye , and after buying half the stall we went to ready ourselves for the St James' concert .
Wow..everyone ready on time , and 3 cabs turn up in quick succession ..this can't be right !
Strangely enough, despite going to the same place from the same place, we all pay a different fare , and of course our cab is the dearest , but he drops us at the end of the queue in Jermyn St. , and within minutes the line is moving *yay*
Meet a lovely lady called Sam whose friend couldn't make it , and who Pix has adopted, and we persuade her to come to W&M on Saturday too.
Once inside, there are only seats at the back, but being in the know after last time, I suggest we repair to the left hand pews and line up against the wall for a better view once the concert starts
* iz smug *
Little Al cane out , and we all gave him a cheer , and silently thanked the Lord that it was half-term and he could come out to play *g* I love 'Heroes Aren't Born ' and ' Money Don't Make the Man', Yay, he sang both , and he also apologised for using a naughty word in church AWWW ! He got a really good reception which was nice to see * hearts Al *
James came out quietly to rapturous applause *natch*,and he just gets better and better, so much more accomplished in both his playing and his writing . Really loving the new songs , and even losing the bet on what he would be wearing (Black T and jeans... and not even a slight glint of bling ) didn't put a dent in what was a great evening . V even showed me how to do a proper WOO HOO at the end of Smile instead of the pathetic little woo that I manage *g*
What did put a dent in it was the 2 hours we spent looking for a taxi when we came out of the lovely little Italian restaurant we'd found by chance ...rain = disappearing cabs in London !
Finally got back to the hotel at 2.20 am , and tried to get some sleep before thinking about braving Oxford St on Saturday * aghhhhh *
