Ohhh yeah! Thanks for the reminder, PK. I'd forgotten about the bandwidth prioritizing on LJ.

I've just changed over to Google toolbar and Firefox on Cy's recommendation. Been using both all day and Firefox is so much faster. I shall change over completely if I can find out how to put 'past' sites on. You know how you told me how to do it on Explorer Cy? Well I don't know how to do it on Firefox. Is it the same way? I want to know 'where I've been' so I can click back there fast.

Well I don't know how to do it on Firefox. Is it the same way? I want to know 'where I've been' so I can click back there fast. If you go to History on the Firefox toolbar, you can see the last few sites, or if you want the long list like IE over to the side, you can click on History, then Show in Sidebar. Or just without clicking anything, hit CTRL+H on your keyboard to show it, then hit it again to hide it!

I get as far as pasting in the list but nothing comes up to tell me it's set right. Does this look like a proper list to you guys? The moodtheme is set on my lj but there's a broken link somewheres. What the heck am I doing wrong...

Latest problem is Firefox downloads everything to my desktop and then puts a box up asking if I want to 'clean up' downloads and I'm fed-up with it asking.

Latest problem is Firefox downloads everything to my desktop and then puts a box up asking if I want to 'clean up' downloads and I'm fed-up with it asking. Go to: Tools > Options > Main tab Look at the Downloads section in the middle. You have the option to Show the Downloads window when downloading a file (or if you don't want that box open, uncheck the box). That would be the box with the "clean up" button (meaning remove the history of downloaded files from that list). Underneath that, you can then choose if you want to always save your files to a particular location (defaults to Desktop) or "Always ask me where to save files". Select whichever you want, and click OK when done. Firefox is WONDERFUL though, how did I ever manage before. Explorer is *****! Thanks Cy. Well duh.

I want to take off the Explorer altogether 'cos it did that thing again the other night, downloading that KB927978 thingy without even asking me! Couldn't use the pooter for hours. I strived to turn the damned thing off! Didn't want me to...grrr.

I strived to turn the damned thing off! Didn't want me to...grrr. You can't remove IE because it's part of Windows. The KB927978 thing sounds like a Windows Hotfix that is downloaded via Automatic Update. They shouldn't freeze up your pc or render it unusable for hours; they are "patches" to flaws in the operating system. Usually like security stuff. Yep found it. Everything is so much faster with Firefox. I'm converted big time. Woohoo! ;D Well, I'm not showing up on friends pages. ... The stretfordditto lj isn't even showing up on my other lj (dolmmoon) and it belongs to me! You sillybilly, you edited while I was posting that other post. As for the layouts, I dunno. Are you on the Friends list of both your LJs? Edit: Ditto, I just checked out both your LJs and I am seeing the other's posts on the Friends page just fine.

I'm in a lather again now, 'cos I messed up the options thingy. Help cy please or anybody. What the hell should I have clicked for windows opening? I like my Yahoo window open and if I click a link I like it to stay open and have the link open in a new window. I've tried clicking every box every which way and can't get it right.

I've buggered it up big time. I assume you are talking about Firefox options on how to handle new windows? ----- Tools > Options > Tabs New pages should be opened in: [pick one] a new window a new tab ----- This means, when in IE a page would open up in a new window, here you have the option to open it in a new window or a new tab instead. Also, you can right click any link and choose "Open Link in New Window" or "Open Link in New Tab". If you have a mouse with a middle button (including a scrollwheel that acts as a middle button), clicking on a link with that middle button will open that link in a new tab.

Well it opened it in a new tab and shut the flipping old one. Also the new tab didn't have the arrows lit up to go forward/backward.

Well it opened it in a new tab and shut the flipping old one. Whaat? I'm not sure how you managed to do that at the same time, but yes, you can use middle button to close tabs too. If you click on the tab (up where the name of the tab is on the same line as the X) with the middle button, it will close it. But I'm not sure how you managed to open a tab and close the original one at the same time. Also the new tab didn't have the arrows lit up to go forward/backward. Yeah the new tab would not have the <- -> arrows lit up because that is the only page that has been visited in that tab, so there's nothing to go back or forward to.

Well it did honest! I get that about the forward/back but it's my fault I've messed this up. Since you told me about that 'options' thingy, I must have clicked some boxes wrong agh why did I do it? How do you take pictures of those clicky boxes, cos if I could show you, then you could tell me what to click!
