Ok hmmm check this out: www.kryptonsite.com/brainiac.htmgrrr it's a Spike promo pic instead of James And thread at the Kryptonsite here.

Thisjust in from JMLive
JAMES IS JUST FINE Here's some good news about James on your television. Just released from the WB is the following press statement (edited for all the important bits). JAMES MARSTERS VISITS “SMALLVILLE” AS THE EVIL BRAINIAC Burbank, CA July 22, 2005 James Marsters sinks his teeth into another juicy role for The WB when he joins the cast of SMALLVILLE for multiple episodes. Marsters will portray Brainiac, a classic DC Comics villain and one of the Man-of-Steel's most formidable enemies. Additionally, one episode this season will reunite series star John Schneider with his former “Dukes of Hazzard” co-star, Tom Wopat. Marsters plays college professor Milton Fine, alter ego of the uber-villain Brainiac. Possessed of a vast, superior knowledge limited only by his hubris and emotions, Brainiac comes to earth armed with a secret about Clark's biological family and the truth about Krypton's demise. Brainiac's presence in Smallville will have a devastating effect on Clark and Lex's already deteriorating friendship. Brainiac is the latest DC Comics character to appear in SMALLVILLE. The Flash, Mxyzptlk and Perry White have all made appearances during the series run. Last season, Lois Lane (Erica Durance) joined the cast. Reinterpreting the Superman mythology from its roots, “Smallville” was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (“Shanghai Noon,” “Spiderman 2”), based on the DC Comics characters. Gough and Millar serve as executive producers, along with Greg Beeman, Ken Horton, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster. * * * * Even better news: James' availability for his October performances in the UK has been assured by the producers of Smallville. Ka-POW! _________________________________________________

The coup is successful ;D Y'all can start a new fantasy role thread if you fancy I wasn't sure about this Smallville thing when the first rumours were hitting the net but I quickly embraced it. ;D It sounds like great fun. Can't wait to find out how they write the role and the storylines. This could be just the shot in the arm that the show needed ;D I love his bit from the info: The character is going to have such impact ;D And as for the "multiple episodes" thing, as the original spoilers were correct, my guess is that the 10 episodes mentioned will be too

Yay for the coup PK ;D ;D Yeah but when James has done his bit he's finished in Smallville then isn't he unless they like the character like they did Spike in BTVS ;D ;D ;D and keep him on

zap2it - wee blurb and a Cool Money James pic Marsters Stakes Claim to 'Smallville' (Friday, July 22 02:50 PM) By Rick Porter LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) For all the things vampire Spike was on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," one thing he typically was not was the sharpest stake in the drawer. That's about to change for the man who played him, James Marsters.
Marsters will join the cast of "Smallville" this season, playing a classic villain from the DC Comics universe: Professor Milton Fine, better known as Brainiac. The WB confirmed a percolating rumor of Marsters' casting Friday (July 22) at the Television Critics Association press tour. The "Smallville" stint may not be the only work on The WB for Marsters. Network head David Janollari says he would "gladly" do a movie featuring the Spike character if Marsters and "Buffy"/"Angel" creator Joss Whedon want to do one.
