My daughter asked me for something to read....she used to read almost as much as me, but hasn't recently with the baby...... So I gave her Guilty Pleasures and Laughing Corpse by LKH....she said she'd try one but wasn't too sure about them. Well, two days later she called and said she'd just finished GP and was ready for LC...she really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down! So a new convert for LKH....I'm gonna pass my Harry Dresden's to her, but I really hate lending them out.... but it doesn't make sense to go buy more! So I'll be generous and share! ;D

Finished Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz the other night, and its a good read, one of his best for a while... I succumbed and bought The DaVinci Code, but it will have to wait till I've read the new Mallory book from Carol O'Connell 'The Jury Must Die', another fave author of serial killer novels..told ya I was warped ;D

Just checking the Book Club door for NN - it wasn't even stuck, so must have just been a glitch last night

Aha...PK fixed it! Well I finished 'The Jury Must Die' and I was a little disapointed...it was a great story but seemed a little fractured and didn't flow as well as the others in the series. The Da Vinci Code really lived up to the hype, a cracking read..so much so that I bought Angels and Demons, again brilliant, and IMO even better...I'll be finishing it tonight then I can really get into Blood Rites ...I was naughty and just had to read a few chapters , I really didn't want to put it down, but I told myself it's even better when you prolong the pleasure! ;D

It's amazing what a squirt of WD40 will do! ;D I bought those two as well NN, though gawd knows when I'll ever read them. I have so many books waiting to be read it's almost a criminal offence.

I know the feeling. I have a strange compulsion to buy books, and rarely get the chance to read them. I have loads I want to read that I bought ages ago.

az....haven't read nightseer, but will look for it next time i'm in the bookstore.have u read any of the vamp novels where the main characters are eric and bill(vamps) and a telepathic waitress named sookie stackhouse..they are set in louisiana...written by a chick named ?(can't remember first name)..last name is harris.they are pretty funny at times...not as good as lkh....but worth taking a look at Long time since this was posted, but I have finally read this series. For some strange reason the author is called Anne Harris in the US and Charlaine Harris here in the UK The stories can be lol funny and very easy to read, but as SB said they are not quite up to the standard of LKH, if you can ignore other vamp novels then you will enjoy the Stakhouse series. SB has explained the basis of the novels. Sookie has a disability (Her words) she is telepahic and finds normal relationships a nightmare. So when a vampire comes into the diner she works in she is more than a little excited that things are different with him. However dating this vampire called Bill (Boring name) she finds herself thrown into a new kind of life, a life full of danger where people (And other supernaturals) are constantly trying to kill her, her family or her boyfriend, but it beats boredom. Doesnt it ?

Well, this goes to show we are all connected psychically....I just found this series last week at B&N....got the first three...Dead until Dark, Dead until Dallas, and Club Dead....the author is shown as Charlaine Harris on these. There's also a newer hardcover, but I didn't want to spend that much if I didn't like these....but I do....not nearly as and as Anita, but good reading....besides who can resist "A Southern Vampire Novel" on the cover??

Ok Im a cut and paste cheat because I've already posted this over at your LJ, but Im going to use this as my review Just finished this book {Thanks to Mch for sending me a lovely birthday pressy } Anyway without spoiling anything for you I will say though I am a big LKH fan Im hoping this is the last Anita book she does as it just isnt up to scratch in my opinion. I think its more a case of tying up loose ends than telling a story. If you read her Merry Gentry series it will remind you of those books more than Merry Gentry reminding you of Anita Blake which a lot of people said the first MG did. Theres a hell of a lot of sex in this one, I know there was more in the last, but this was more like an excuse for a soft porn novel and to be honest I didnt think there was need for that much. Now don't get me wrong Im not a prude, but it stretched the book out more than the story warrented. Saying that it was still a good read just won't be as eager to re-read it like the others. Mmmm think I'll cut and paste this for a small BS review (And I did lol) Hope you still enjoy it let me know what you think of it.
Im going to start my copy of Ebs' book that finally arrived today which is typical as I had just tried to start my Jimmy Cagney book so that will have to wait again, sure he wont mind waiting for the great Ebs debut lol

Naughty Ebs, you have a whole entire thread to yourself to pimp your stuff! With having at least 20 (and if I did a serious inventory I expect that number would be somewhat higher) novels sitting on shelves and tables waiting to be read, and having managed to get through all of *whispers* one book this whole year, I have banned myself from buying any more and instructed family and friends not to give me any for Crimbo (um, apart from Touching The Void by Joe Simpson, but that's because I am a little bit in love with him, and it isn't a novel...)

PK! You used to read everything in no time! It's the fic writing. It gets us all. I think all the books I've read this year have been non-fiction. Well, except the Georgette Heyer ones...I love a bit of fluff once in a while. *Goes back to corner before PK gets out her broom.*
