I suppose I could have copied over the blurb, couldn't I?! Oh well, here it is:
Four people awake in an abandoned asylum without any previous memories or knowledge of their whereabouts. They soon discover that they were subjects of an experiment – an experiment gone haywire – intended to erase bad memories, but accidentally released a monstrous, blood thirsty entity within the asylum. As they piece together their memories, a vicious Shadow Creature stalks them, threatening their lives from the darkness.
Yum! They do make it sound more horror than psychological thriller though, don't they. Which is fine by me, like my chills either way. Infact they describe it as horror in their list of films in production. And give a ready for distribution date of March 2006, which seems quite soon to me.
***
They have another film in production called Shadow Walkers, also horror. Although it seems to be further along in the process, its due date isn't til September next year. Which is good, as two similar titles in the same genre from the same company could get mixed up with each other, tsk.

Not only does he champion a Spike movie but Mike Ausiello is plugging Shadow Puppets too ;D PUPPETS MASTER: Hey, folks, it's me. Ausiello. Did you really think I was going to go away that easily? Please. (Apparently, due to a stipulation in my original Guide contract that I was not aware of, I am required by law to make regular contributions to Entertainment News for the rest of my friggin' life.) Anyway, rumor has it that James Marsters is taking a few weeks off from Smallville to shoot the straight-to-DVD spooker Shadow Puppets. The Saw-esque thriller costars Jolene Blalock (Enterprise) and revolves around four people who wake up in an abandoned asylum without any previous memories or knowledge of their whereabouts. Naturally, I'll have more in this week's Ask Ausiello. (My contract also calls for at least one shameless plug a week in Entertainment News. Sorry, Matt.) GuideStraight to DVD? Is he sure? Ah well, at least it would mean we all get to see it asap.

True to his word he has plugged it again, although nothing new here, really: Question: You are a television addict's smack. I humbly bow and give thanks for your awesome Lost gift last week. Now, any scoop on James Marsters' deal with Smallville? — Teri
Ausiello: I've never been called a smack before. Hack, yes, but not smack. Regarding Mr. Marsters, as I reported in Entertainment News on Monday, he landed a starring role in Shadow Puppets, a direct-to-DVD spooker that sounds an awful lot like Saw. It's about four people who wake up in an abandoned asylum without any prior memories or knowledge of their whereabouts. They soon discover that they were subjects of an experiment — an experiment gone haywire. Tony Todd (Candyman) and Jolene Blalock (Enterprise) costar. The shoot is expected to last five weeks, after which Jimmy is expected to do a few more Smallville episodes. Ask Ausiello

Reported at The Film AsylumTony Todd is the 'Shadow Puppet' master. 23 Nov 2005
------------------------------------------------------------------- Fangoria have reported that Tony Todd's (Candyman) next venture will be titled Shadow Puppets, a new fright film currently rolling in LA. Actor James Marsters (Angel), Jolene Blaylock (Star Trek: Voyager), Mark Winnick and Diahnna Nicole Baxter co-star. Michael Winnick writes and directs, with Bob Crowe and Ross Goldfarb producing and Morris Ruskin serving as executive producer.
Shadow Puppets opens with a group of disparate people who awake in a facility and have no recollection of who they are or how they got there. While trying to find a way out of the locked facility, they are hunted by an ominous dark shadow.
So true to form, Mark Winnick appears in a Michael Winnick project ;D And like we might have already worked out, Tony seems to be the puppet master *** If you want to know about the new name thrown into the mix - Diahnna Nicole Baxter - there's a review of Pieces (of Ass) at Variety, which gives her a good write-up, and describes her as a thesp-singer.

Oooh, the exec producer Morris Ruskin, worked on Glengarry Glen Ross. Got to be a good thing! Here's the piece from FangoriaTony Todd pulls strings of SHADOW PUPPETS
With SHADOW: DEAD RIOT (pictured), THE THIRST and JEKYLL AND HYDE in the can, Tony (CANDYMAN) Todd has been busy on the horror-film rounds in the last year. Now on tap for the towering actor is SHADOW PUPPETS, a new fright yarn currently lensing in LA. Former Spike actor James (ANGEL) Marsters, Jolene (STAR TREK: VOYAGER) Blaylock, Mark Winnick and Diahnna Nicole Baxter co-star. Michael Winnick writes and directs, with Bob Crowe and Ross Goldfarb tackling producing chores and Morris Ruskin serving as executive producer.
Following the stark locations and simple setups of films like CUBE and SAW, SHADOW PUPPETS opens with a group of disparate people who awake in a facility and have no recollection of who they are or how they got there. While trying to find a way out of the locked facility, they are hunted by an ominous dark shadow. —Tony Timpone

Ex Isle is proving to be an interesting source of info these days, re James. Writer groupie posted this a short while ago on the SP thread there. First off - hoo boy is this movie gonna kick all kinds of butt!!!
Not saying I managed to sneak a peek at the script or anything...
As has been reported in a few places, yes, James is the lead and Tony and Jolene co-star. And supposedly all three give AMAZING performances! It just wrapped production, which means now it's going to head into the several-months-long post-production process. But anything I can find out during this process, I'll let you guys know!
But UNLIKE what some people are reporting as 'fact', this is NOT intended to be a direct-to-DVD release! From everything I've heard, the folks involved always intended/hoped for a theatrical release. I've been waiting years for James to get a proper big-screen debut as the star of a film!!! So if I hear anything about where we can express our 'interest' in seeing James on the big screen, I'll post it! But in the meantime, I don't think it would hurt to show online our desire for a big screen release for the film, so folks know there's a fanbase out there wanting it!
James Marsters, Tony Todd, and Jolene Blalock - dang! That'll get Buffy/Angel fans, horror fans and Trek fans out to the theaters, won't it? Not to mention - eye candy for everyone, so it's the perfect date movie, too!
Jill *keeping her eyes and ears open for more info...*Heh, fingers crossed for a theatrical release, then, before we can own it on DVD.

I'd be very happy for it to get a cinema outing, then released on DVD. It's all good From the sound of it, it is the type of movie I'd pay to see anyway, James or no James. But unless it was fab I wouldn't normally invest in the DVD without him as a draw. I tend to just buy movies I have seen on the big screen and loved.
