Excellent idea of Ditto's to have a thread dedicated to ghoulies and ghosties and paranormal experiences, so here it is! Bring forth your stories of spooky doos! I'll give you my best offering, which I'm afraid is second hand. The parentals used to work for the National Trust and were custodians of Nunnington Hall, a Tudor manor house in North Yorkshire. The house was open to the public in the afternoon, and in one particular room, a number of visitors had funny turns, and/or complained of the chill. However, mum's experience wasn't in there. Every morning they did the rounds of the house, making sure everything was clean and fit to greet the public. Mum had been wafting round the drawing room and as she left she heard piano music behind her, back in the room, then two little dog ran past her and down the stairs, then *poofed* I'll ask her later in the week if she had any more sightings whilst they were working there.

Ooooooooooooh, that's spooky indeed Was she scared ? I have no spookidoo tales except for one short, sad and poignant one which is that our dining room clock stopped at the exact time as my sister- in- law died .

Aw I don't think mum was scared, she is a big one for feeling 'vibes' and was only scared once - when they were house-hunting, and as soon as they walked in to view one empty house she had a fit of the collywobbles and insisted they leave pronto! I just remembered a wierd incident from my teens. Dad had one of those golf putter practice machines, where you try to get the ball onto the target then it catapults it back out so you can do it again. It was sitting in the kitchen when it suddenly started going off by itself - the catapultty bit just kept on boinging in and and out at regular intervals.... but it didn't have any batteries in it at the time No idea at all what the logical explanation would be.

Oh Pluto My little sister is very pstchic and often sees 'ghosts' particularly as she works in a hospital where lots of people have died... when she was a young teen she came screaming down the stairs saying someone had tapped her on the shoulder in our bathroom - I was the oldest one at home at the time so went to investigate - I didn't see anything but she didn't have a bath in there for years

Seems like your mum has second sight PK.
Weird about the golf machine and that reminded me of the battery operated thingy that my mum uses to buzz for my dad when she's upstairs and needs his assistance. It's forever going off on it's own accord when no one is anywhere near it....maybe it's just faulty wiring or poltergeists having fun ;D

Ohhh Spooky Doos! ;D When I was young we moved into a house which had a spook. When dad was working on the place getting it ready for us to move into he was so spooked by the feeling that he was being watched that he rigged the lights so he could get out and lock the door before turning them off When we moved in the cat shot straight out of her basket, ran out of the front door and refused to come back in.but lived in the garden shed till we moved out, A chair used to rock itself there were odd sounds and I used to have long conversations with what I called " The squirrel" on the staircase ( I remember the "squirrel", it was a little hunched over figure wearing a shawl. On the day my sister came downstairs and asked mum to go up and tell the old lady by the wardrobe to stop looking at her we decided to move out ;D. The last occupant of the house had been an old lady who had lived there all her life. Her Husband had been sent back to the front two days after their wedding, he was killed in action and two days of marriage was all she got. I know she meant no harm, I think she just loved children and liked to be around us Oh and I used to work in a haunted hotel The Bull in Long Melford. There was one room where guests used to complain bitterly that someone had got a key to their room and come in late at night and tried to get into the bed with them Needless to say, all keys were safely locked up but the visitor still pulled bedclothes off and climbed into bed with our guests on a regular basis. I'd lock the bar at night and go in the next day to finf furniture had moved and on one occasion I got the worst sense of being watched as I was tidying up after closing time. Freaked me so badly I ran out without locking up and didn't get into trouble because I was neither the first or the last to do so The old lady/squirrel was a nice spook... this one was anything but!

Utterly fabulous thread. And I bet everybody has a tale to tell and yet there are still peeps who don't believe. Crazy I call it.

Ditto, do retell your stories as not everyone has heard them. Eek! I'm glad she turned out to be kindly! The getting into bed with folks thing reminded me of one of my ex-assistants at work. She was having a tough time in her marriage, pre-divorce, and when she was really low she swears she felt someone get into bed with her and stroke her face. She believed it was her grandma, and others in her family reported having similar experiences.

Ooh , spookies ;D Some of you know that my mum was psychic , she could 'read ' handwriting , accurately describe the person who wrote it and tell you stuff about them that you had no clue about until sometimes months later ! I used to get her to do this with my school report books whenever we had a new teacher , and one time she described our new head of 5th form (who she'd never met , and I'd never had cause to be called to his office or had a class with , so knew nothing about him ) , and she got a real shiver and said that despite being a very religious man (not unusual as this was a catholic school attached to a convent ) she was getting waves of bitterness coming from him , that he was conflicted in his faith and was railing at God about some tragedy in his life . Many months later it was our school saints day , a big deal then with the Bishop coming in to say mass , lots of dignitaries sitting down to lunch (which we had to serve them ..and on that hangs another tale about my dire waitressing skills ) and lots of fun and games and the screening of a film for the whole school to sit and watch instead of lessons ;D Anyway, this new 5th form head brought his family in for the day and we found out why he was so bitter , he had 5 children , 4 older girls and his youngest , a 12 year boy in a wheelchair that he obviously doted on ...it turned out that his little one had Muscular Dystrophy and wasn't expected to survive much past his 15th year . I shall tell all about the time she startled another of our headteachers at a church fete (where she was raising funds by reading people their fortunes with an ordinary deck of cards !) , and how she had the time of her life when my Auntie Jean 's house became home to a poltergeist another time ;D

It's a lovely pic teebs, but I'm not sure she'd be thrilled to be classed as a spooky doo! ;D But the ethereal balls certainly are! My mum says that her Nunnington Hall experience didn't just have dogs and piano music, there was girls' laughter too And as for the house viewing they fled from, they later found out that a bloke had hanged himself in there

It's a lovely pic teebs, but I'm not sure she'd be thrilled to be classed as a spooky doo! ;D Lol, this was the only pic taken of mum on her own there is one of her and E, another with Es partner, they were all taken one after another and this is the only one with 'Orbs'. Mum said on seeing the pic, "well your dad is always with me " ..... and double at your mums experience and what happened in the house they fled
