So, anybody play music? Anyone sing? Anyone write lyrics? Let's start a Bloody Spikers(ettes?) Band! Hell, why not? From PK's post under musical James with the unofficial official GOTR site, I was reading the lyrics of the songs (have never actually heard any myself) and just got to thinking about writing lyrics. So I did. It's kinda Spikey/Jamesy/GOTR Unrequited Love stuff. Thought it would be fun to share and see what someone else might come up with. So, here's what I wrote, the music is just forming in my head, but 'hear' it begin light and fun, subtly sexy bass, build to crying lead chords, driving drum and absolute silence on the final word. State of Flux By Incogni2
You were to be my summer Short term lease to warm my bed Laughs, hot sex, no soulful bummer No picket fences or permanent stead.
It was a game I’d played before, Kept the chosen ‘rapt’ at my arm’s length. Start demanding and I’d hit the door Emotional ice was my strength.
But you changed my way of loving, You made me want to believe. That having could be greater than wanting, You gave me reason not to leave.
A path of dreams I was set to travel, My trail not wide enough for two. Then you caused my plans to unravel, The mirror in your eyes reflecting me and you.
So I said ‘Yes, I’ll stay with you’, Shelve my dreams to live your world. For a while our love was sweet and true, Then your banner of lies unfurled.
But you changed my way of loving, You made me want to believe. That having could be greater than wanting, Why did you make me leave?
You ground my trust beneath your feet, Smashed love in pieces scattered. Turned sour that which had once been sweet, Our ‘Happily ever after‘ too soon shattered.
And you changed my way of loving, You made me really believe. That having was greater than wanting, In a state of flux, I’m left to grieve.

Bloody Spikers band ROTFLMAO, hey we could be GotR support group although in the pressence of those guys i think we'd be the one who would need the supporting lol.
I2 those lyrics were beautiful, bet they'd make a wicked song.
I myself 'used' to be able to play the piano-well kind of, never tried writing lyrics though and my parentals say i can't sing to save my life.
I could probably dance, haven't done it for about 4, 5 years but i did do it for a long time, not exactly sure how long it was ask twsitie she'll know, so i'm sure i'd be able to do something in that sense lol.

I2, honey, that's a great song. I'm a nae bad singer, and can read music a bit, otherwise, just a frustrated musician. I would love to be able to play a piano. I started to learn guitar, but the metal strings are sore on my dainty fingers.
I'll be auditioning for a part in "Little Shop of Horrors" with the local musical society in a couple of weeks - I'll let you know how I get on. I wanna be the plant or an urchin!

Thanks Vampyra...we haven't met...yet. My original thought some other Spikers might put down some songs, but no takers yet. My voice is so-so and def better left in the background and I also played around with the guitar many moons ago. Yea, metal strings are a bitch.
Oooo, I love Little Shop of Horrors! Actually saw it at Grauman's (spelling?) Chinese in California. It was great. Will keep my fingers crossed you get a part, I bet it would be a blast to do. Hope to see you around the board...

Well, hmm, father is in profession (music lecturer at uni) and mother taught music for a bit, so there was no escaping! So... I sing (have grade 7 Associated Board - highest musical achievement exam-wise, cos it was the only instrument I a) cared about and b) practised), and I couldn't not sing, ever. Don't do much solo work, though I enjoy it when I get the chance! Play piano reasonably when I practise, though mostly can't be bothered - it's good enough to get by, and I only play for myself. Play violin badly. Play flute worse. Self-taught. Play descant and treble recorders okay-ish. Can strum a few chords on the guitar. Father tried to teach me to play the organ, but was REALLY bad at that, legs are too short! LMAO!!!!! And I occasionally write my own songs - words and music. Have a whole load from when I was 15 and my friends and I were thinking of being a band (as you do). I wrote all the songs and music. Think I kept them... well, kept some of the better ones, anyway. Some were awful! LOL. ps. Bloody Spikettes is a cool name, I like that!

I've never actually done karaoke... but I'd kinda like to (I like singing in public. Given the requisite amount of alcohol!)

I2, been thinking about your lyrics up at the top of here... impressed me again with how good they are. I'd love to write some music for them, but am no good with writing rock music, always seems to come out ballady. I wanna give it a go, though! If I come up with anything half decent, I'll let you know!

**I2 slaps off dust** Gee, haven't been in this thread for quite some time. Hey Pix! So maybe you could come up with a tune? A rocky type of ballad could work ya know. And here's another one I wrote some time ago...maybe give it some thought...er...notes to go with? …A Man By Incogni2
I know you’ve been down In that dark, dark place Always choosing the knife’s edge Yet puzzled when you bleed Cos I see in your eyes A reflection of my own passion Got too close to the flames And seared your heart
But now you’ve got me thinkin…
I want a man Boyish enough to play in sunshine I want a man To see my tears beneath the rain I need a man To fuck and make love with I need a man Strong enough to stand by my side
So many pretty lies we’ve heard Even when not seeking truth Don’t need the pretty fences Freely content within an open gate But they always want to enclose us Pour us into their candy mold Take the length of rope we offer Step into the noose and swing away
But now you’ve got me wonderin…
Could you be the man Boyish enough to play in sunshine Could you be the man To ease my tears beneath the rain Could you be the man To fuck and make love with Could you be man Strong enough to walk by my side
I want a man…I need a man…Could you be the man??…
All Rights Reserved ...Rights to have me head examined... Oh, oh, oh...just had another idea... ;D...NN sings ya know...p'raps if you write the tune she could sing it at Halloween...ahem...just don't forget me if ya get any 'volunteers' to satisfy the needy part...

There's loads of talent on this board, we should certainly do something with it.
Might get my manuscript paper and guitar out 2moro and see what I come up with. I'd love to do it at Halloween, if I get something done in time.
Hey... anyone got a minidisc recorder? Just a thought... if they do, and I get something done in time (which I'll try to, but can't promise), it would be SO COOL to record us singing/playing/whatever, and send it to I2 so she could hear it...
I'll post again if I manage to get something down.
