I was bored, so thought I'd play with new, improved, super strenght, super long poll facility! ;D
Vote for your single most favourite track on the CD, and by all means tells us which and why.
It wasn't an easy choice for me, but I have picked Katie, because it makes me smile and bounce. And although it was great live with GOTR, is even better with James on his own - he doesn't agree, silly man - it is great to have a recording of it to play, sing along to etc forever and a day. Sure, there are "better" songs on the album, but I am unrepentant ;D

no vote for me... only track I've heard is For What I Need, and although it is *thud* it wouldn't be fair to the rest of the tracks to vote for it just cuz I not heard the rest...

I've voted for Smile, cos that's what happens when I play it. I love its simplicity and tenderness, it's a beautiful song, and it never fails to leave me completely zenned out and everso slightly euphoric and floaty. I also just love the sound of a solo voice and piano; and I think this really shows of James' voice to a really good advantage, and it's just... *sigh*...
I treated the neighbours to the full-volume version of it last night. They didn't complain! ;D

Crikey...this is so hard Much as I love This Town, and have done since I first heard it, Poor Robyn is lovely, and Katie makes me smile...' I threw a pastry' , with thanks to Ditto for the mental image and ensuing giggles LOL, I've chosen Smile..I hadn't heard it before the tour, and fell in love with it instantly. P.S. it's V's favourite too ;D

Finally decided to go for 'This Town', because I can't get it out of my head I agree with all Pix said about 'Smile' and I love it for the same reasons but for me there is something about This Town that pulls at a memory lost in my heart somewhere

Cy, Smile is fab live and I had tears in my eyes. Always loved the old 14 Below bootlegs too. But the piano version is exquisite. It actually is my fave on the album for purety, simplicity, beauty, emotion, and wonderful mental images. But I had to vote for Katie because we may never hear it any other way again and that would be just AWFUL!! *spanks James hard til he agrees to start playing it live again*

Smile is beautiful with the piano and James's voice ;D But I also love the Blues I didnt realise I was a Blues fan but the way James played For What I Nead LIVE was oh boy!! ;D like I said its not the same on CD James playing the Blues live is more passionate ;D but I've still voted for Smile

After spending the whole weekend listening and contemplating I narrowed the decision down to Katie cos it's upbeat and feelgood, This Town cos I love James voice and Smile cos it's slow and soothing. My final choice is gonna be This Town cos it just sends me. To where? I don't know, but just love it.

Ok I've gotta go against the norm and say my favourite is Civilised Man. There is just something about the song that to me says that there is a lot more to James' personality than we know. Reading between the lines I think it's something that people close to him are only too aware of but as he's got older it doesn't show itself as much. With time he has learned restraint and that is what the song is about....his struggle with that restraint.
Long time would be second on my list and my favourite live would have to be Bad because of the emotion he puts into it.

lol... we all struggle with restraints, one way or another, and I think that CM appeals partly because of that... to me, anyway, lol!
But I'm still wildly romantic at times and love "Smile", lol!

He hasn't since Coventry, I don't think. And he did say he wasn't sure it worked, solo. tsk. There's a gig this week so it will be interesting to find out if he plays it in Detroit.
