Ok Cyrus I need your help , i've been making my own banners for a few months now and have only just discovered a away to transfer then to jpg files without having to have them all blurry, like i used to . But to do this it asks for there sizes in pixels and i'm not entirely sure on what sizes are suitable so i was just wondering which ones you use, or would use. For a rectangel banner, a square banner, and an avatar image . Thanks

Spooky! I have just IMed you about your sig Will! Basically, can you guys stick to rectangular ones please. And no bigger than the ones Cyrus has made - so Cyrus, over to you to explain the pixel stuff!
Oh, and re MSN pic posting, everything that follows .jpg, .gif or whatever in the pic's url should be deleted, otherwise the pic won't show up.

For an avatar, this board has 65x65 as the max (anything bigger it scales down, so I go ahead and use 65x65), but some boards only allow up to 50x50. For banners, the ones I made for myself, Eve, NN, and I2, I used 500x100 (width x height). Square banners don't usually work too well, because they generally need to be too tall in order to get everything in. I'd go with long rectangles only. What program are you using? edit: PK posted while I was typing. Yeah, on the MSN thing, she's right. That's why I said get from the http:// to the .jpg or .gif . Nothing after that. If you do a right mouse click on my banner and choose properties, you can see the address. It's MSN, so it's quite long!

Coral Draw 10 or Corel Draw 10? Either way, never heard of it...hmm... I use PhotoImpact 7. There's lots of photo editing software out there! Ah... just as I thought... my good buddy Google says it's Corel Draw 10. Here is a web site that says it has hints and tutorials if you want to look at them. You need Acrobat Reader. www.grafx-design.com/coreltut.html

I've changed my banner to the Angelfire account I just set up. The URL is only 60 characters, instead of 167 with MSN! Willowwood: I'm not sure what they use. You could try Windows Movie Maker. It came on my computer but I've never really used it. Check to see if it may be on your computer. Do a search for this file: moviemk.exe on your computer to see if you have it. Good luck.

Okay, I2, you were supposed to post your question in here, but *shrug*. To turn your URL in to text like this: Cyrus' Site do this: Step 1: Click the button on the 2nd row, 2nd from left with the little earth on it. It will insert tags like this (without the space in the last tag). Step 2: Place your cursor (the blinky line where you are typing) after the "l" and before the "]" in the first set of tags, and type in an "=" sign, then your URL. Something like (without the space in the last tag). Step 3: Type in the words you want to appear between the two tags. Something like this: Web Site Name or Description (without the space in the last tag). I think PK had posted this somewhere before, but now it is here.

lol... okay, okay... *hands in air* Good rule of tech support is assume your customer knows nothing. Go simple, and explain everything in simplest terms possible, otherwise they may get confused easily. Hey, too bad this can't count as job experience! ;D Yes! You did it! ;D

Animations are usually in the form of a .gif file, and MSN doesn't know the difference between a static gif and an animated gif. What file type are you saving it as? I just got a free Angelfire account yesterday, which is where my sig banner is now located. 20 MB of storage, as compared to 3 MB per signin name with MSN! This is gonna be good... ;D Oh, and something else: When you name files that you are going to use online, name them short and to the point. Also, avoid spaces in the filename, because otherwise the space will turn in to %20. Use an underscore ( _ ) instead of a space. For example, your banner is called "Spike N Angel Banner.jpg" to you, but it gets turned into "Spike%20N%20Angel%20Banner.jpg". You could call it "sa_banner.jpg" instead. I try to use lowercase letters for all my file names if at all possible. Some servers don't care, and you can use a mix, and to others, a capital letter is one character, and a lowercase is completely different. So if you name your file "WW_Banner.jpg" and then you try to call "ww_banner.jpg", it doesn't know what that is. Just some hints!

Ditto had a question as to how you change your screen resolution to 1024x768. Here is the answer:
Step 1: Go to your desktop. That's where you can see your wallpaper and all the little shortcut icons.
Step 2: Do a RIGHT mouse click and choose "properties". (Like when you change your wallpaper.)
Step 3: Click the "Settings" tab.
Step 4: Slide the little marker on the bar to "1024 by 768 pixels" and hit OK.

It has come to my attention that certain members are novice copy and pasters... my dears, how can you survive the hurly-burly of Spike/James life on the net without copying and pasting?! So, to copy some text either: Highlight the passage/page/article/quote/whatever you want (you do that by left clicking on your mouse button at the start of said passage, holding down the button as you drag across the area you want, and then releasing wwhen you have covered the area). The press crtl c (at the same time) OR Go up to Edit in your tool bar at the top of the screen, and from its menu select copy. Then to paste it elsewhere, position your cursor where you want the text to start and then press ctrl v (together) OR Go up to Edit, and from the menu select paste. If anyone wants to practice, try copying this short Spikey quote from the new spoilers, and pasting into your next post here! Lol! "Oh bollocks!!!"

Looks like the site owner is making it into a zip file so people can download it and play it on their own computer. That way people won't be visiting multiple times a day and killing the bandwidth.
Look for it next week, the bandwidth should be back tomorrow since it's a new month but she might not have it up for a few days .
This is from robotz on gotr forums , about our beloved James Mah Jong!! ;D Do I get high marks?! ;D

Pretty good! The next thing would be to put that text in a quote box! After you have copied it, and have gone to make a new post to include it, click in the box second from the right on the second row of tags and will appear. Place your cursor in between the two brackets and then paste your text in.
