you only get red crosses if you are viewing with Internet Exploder. ;D in Firefox, you'd just get nothing at all!

Cy, how does one put little movies that one has artistically made on a digital camera onto the Net? Hope you've got time out from teaching to answer my questions.

LMAO! I've got a sweet idea for a vid, but have absolutely no idea how to make them, so it'll have to stay an idea Okay, daft question. Your C: drive is what all your programs go on, yes? (well, mine are on the C: drive, anyway). What's the D: drive for? Mine has nothing on it, and apart from having a different letter (and having nothing on it) it's precisely the same as the C: drive... says it's a local drive, NTFS file system (whatever that means), 18.6 GB free space/total size. Can someone please explain the niceties of these things to a bear of very little brain who is extremely tired and knows precious little about computers? What can I use it for? Anything?

I think D: is the optical drive Pix, for dvd/cd-r's. That's what come's up when I'm copying or burning and E: is the lower drive for peripherals....ie, that's where I download onto my MP3. Does that make sense Maybe best leave it to Cy......lol

Ehm... E: is the memory stick (though I've no idea how that works, or anything - if anyone feels like explaining that as well, got for it!), and F: is the CD/DVD drive. And I have a floppy disk drive as well (A:, just for completeness!) I wish I was less clueless with computers...

pixie, can you do a screenshot and post it? open up your My Computer, then on the keyboard press the ALT together with the PRT SCR key (print screen) then paste in paint or something and save it. Then I can see what you're looking at, as to what it is... but if it's NTFS, it is a harddrive and not a CD drive. Teebee, D: may be the optical drive on your computer, but not all computers. All computers are set up differently. I think Pixie may have a second partition or hard drive, like I have on mine. That means more space to store stuff! For example, here's a screenshot of mine I took just now: in this photo, A: Floppy Drive C: First hard drive (where Windows is and where I install programs) D: First partition of second hard drive E: Second partition of second hard drive F: DVD burner/player (with Buffy DVD in it) G: DVD player H: USB flash drive oh also, you were wondering what NTFS is... New Technology File System... that means that's how the drive is formatted (floppy disks use FAT, older systems use FAT32, Linux systems use err I dont remember lol)... how the drive is formatted determines how much stuff you can get on the drive because of clusters and ohhh bugger it's hard to explain! but hmm Microsoft has this on their site if you're interested: Overview of FAT, HPFS, and NTFS File Systems

don't worry about it Ditto... most people only have A, C, and D, possibly E as well... I could have through the P drive lol if I plug in all my stuff... but I'm a nerd

LOL. I'll do that when I get home, then (I'm at work), but it does say it's a local disk, so it's probably just a partition, like you said...

Ditto here, LH is on the old pc built like a tank doing car insurance quotes and as she has hands like bunches of evil yellow fruit she's better on there. Great, 'cos I want to be on here. It's so fast!
I want to be a nerd and take over Sunnydale and have gratuitous non-stop sex with Spike and know all about computers and impress peeps and stuff. I have an E drive, I put all my digital photos onto shiny discs with it. Just click stuff and if it works good-oh! ;D

I've started to put my photos onto CD-ROMs as well - otherwise, they take up far too much space...

heh yeah very fuzzy. but you have either 2 hard drives or 1 hard drive with 2 partitions. memory stick is E:, DVD player/CD burner is F... and you are running Windows XP with the silver theme. another hard drive or partition (that you didn't know about lol!) just means you have more hard drive space than you thought!

Um... that's nice. I am indeed running it in the silver theme. It looks classier than blue.

That's not down to XP; I can do it just fine. Anyway, once you've saved them you should be able to re-save them on your hard-drive with a different .ending.
Have you cleared out your cookies lately, btw?

if you're viewing it in Window Picture and Fax Viewer, that probably means it's already saved. but there is a little button that looks like a purple disk, and when you move your mouse over it, the tooltip (light yellow box with words) pops up with "Copy To" and if you click that you can tell it where to save a copy.
