As we now have some important news regarding James' appearance on the Ryan Seacrest Show on 27th, I thought it warranted its own thread. So, once the initial excitment/mourning had subsided when we realised the Great Shave was going to happen, some of us were wondering how they were going to go about making it a worthwhile charitable event. And James and Manager Steve have come up trumps. Many thanks to Cindy for bringing the info to us quickly: A message from Steve Himber today about James' upcoming "Head Shaving for Charity".
PLEASE HELP GET THE WORD OUT:
Actor James Marsters (aka ‘Spike’ from “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”) will be appearing on the Ryan Seacrest Show, Tuesday, April 27, 2004 from 12 noon to 1 pm. James will be shaving off his famous platinum blonde locks to help raise money and awareness for the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The top 10 donors will receive a personalized autographed photo along with a lock of James’ hair. To make a donation go to: www.pedaids.org and make an on-line donation no later than noon on Monday, April 26, 2004. Be sure to mark your donation in honor of James Marsters.
Also, for those fans who can come to the taping, please do so. James will be making an appearance after the show in the courtyard sporting his new look!! This is for a great cause!
**Photo and lock of hair will be mailed out within a week of the event.
Thanks in advance for all your support, Steve Himber Manager for James Marsters

Of course, James' generous fans have raised money in his name for this charity before, and I hope that this escapade brings out the donors in huge numbers!
In addition, BAPS have named the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation their charity of choice this year, following James' lead, and will be holding ebay auctions to raise money throughout the summer.
Here's some info from the charity itself:
"The Foundation creates a future of hope for children and families worldwide by eradicating pediatric AIDS, providing care and treatment to people with HIV/AIDS, and accelerating the discovery of new treatments for other serious and life-threatening pediatric illnesses."

How much do you think PK. I want a lock of his hair! Bet some stoopid fans will pay megabucks! Wah! I want to pay megabucks. Must ask Deb what she thinks.... ;D Back to say, of course they're not stupid, it's for charity and it's James. I just came up in a green mist of jealousy for the peeps wot'll get a lock of his hair : I should be ashamed of myself. I gave a donation ::feels hopeful:: I'm kidding myself lol.

Lol, I don't think there's any point trying to second guess what others might donate. There are some rich nutters out there ;D But they can be as barking as they like, because hey, it's a good cause! I already donated, it was easy. I gave them what I could afford (which looks better than it really is, what with the exchange rate an' all! Lol!) And I took every opportunity on the online forms to say what particular event was prompting me to donate

Didn't see you there PK! I've sent this url to Deb, she always does all this stuff. I should have been born blonde. I'm waiting to hear from her. I forgot about the exchange rate! Yay, might look better than it really is then.

A great idea and a great charity. I will donate but my credit card is in a sad state at the moment what with my Melbourne trip I would of course love some of James' platinum locks but I am more than happy to donate to a good cause.

Ok so now it's official, I'm content with James shaving his hair for a good cause. It makes me love him all the more. ;D I've made a donation but it's not gonna win any prizes. I just wanted to help with his fund raising. Can't wait to see the pics of him, hopefully it'll just be a grade 1 type of thing and not completely bald.

Shaving his head will be far less painful, and can actually be shown live on US daytime

Hey! Well, it's done and I have to say I giggled like a teen while he was on on....soooo sad! He's bald as an egg...lol....not really, he has a wee bit of stubble on...looks like a little gray around the temples....but he still looks gorgeous....when I saw the clippers they used, I knew he'd have some hair left, cos T kept his short like that for quite awhile, although he's let it grow back again. $25,000 raised, which is quite alot considering it was fairly quickly done! Woohoo for JM... Ditto, he kept raising his arms to wave at everyone and it looks like his pooch is leaner....looked damn good to me...lol! He didn't seem as bouncy as I've seen him, and hey, he mentioned he was ready to do more Spike if Joss had plans in that area.... ;D

Bouncing whilst having your hair shaved is not recommended! Reports I have been reading say he was pretty bouncy, naughty and giggly otherwise "Do me!" LMAO!

Actually, the way Ryan was shaving it (before the real stylist finished it up), he coulda did the conga....Ryan was running it willynilly over his head! But, then, that's just imo....cos there always seems to be someone who seems to report it differently and much better.....
