Best concert I've seen of them so far. No contest to the two Scala gigs last year. Oh, and we got two encores!
Group effort to remember the songs they actually played: Pretty sure they started out with "New Man" and ended with "German Jewish". Somewhere in between were "Valerie", "Blocking Brainwaves", "Runaway", "Bad", "This Town", "Katie"...
Couldn't get to the front 'coz when we got there around 7 PM the lines literally was as long as the building, and the building is huge. So large venue, lotsa people. We managed to get spots close to the bar which had its advantages.
Looking forward to the Special Audience now.
Oh, Charlie tried stage-diving. ;D

It was fantastic PK. James and Charlie jumping into the audience, water spraying everywhere not all at the same time though. Stage lit purple first, nice, not horrible strobe like Coventry. No James disappearing from view. Then the lads come on, huge audience go bonkers. We sat at the bar, grand view though plus beers. Then New Man and James introduced the band. Started with Sean, went behind him, hands on shoulders and hands up and then really put the audience attention on him. Words to the effect of 'magnificent drum player" ... Audience goes bonkers again. Steve stood to James right this time wearing his shades. And Kev and of course Charlie in a pink shirt. Then he says his usual "I'm James!" James in Coventry black with silver necklace. Peeps chucking stuff at the stage from start go, Steve kicked some knickers back off. James caught the first thing thrown right handed, like catching a baseball. Then more things were thrown and great audience participation and someone chucks a lollipop. James unwraps it and sucks throughout. The music was excellent, New Man, I love it, ignore previous things I said. Then one of my faves Valerie. Place rocking. Tons more faves. I didn't get setlist this time, the girl at the end chucked it into the audience. Peeps screaming and catching lol.

Same thing for me about "New Man". Before tonight I didn't like it on CD and I didn't like it live. Scratch that. Great song! ;D James missed his cue when he jumped down into the audience, so he kind of messed up "Good Night, Sweet Girl" again, hehe, but I don't think anybody minded. Audience was very very enthusiastic, and there was a surprisingly high amount of guys in the crowd. Deb and Daphne are flirting with the owner of the cafe and shamelessly plugging the band. The guy knows everything about GotR now.

It was sooo hot, peeps sweating. Charlie got his shirt soaked by the end, they were in such good spirits. Spraying water and jumping to the audience. James sat out two songs so Charlie could do his thing and he rocked too. Really good. You are right about rocking whilst sitting down PK, I was jigging about on my barstool and really enjoyed myself. Rocking in comfort. I glanced round and Snow was groovin' out on the floor. It was such a fantastic night! One girl climbed up the metal strut thing to get a better view. There were lots of guys and James says "how many guys?" and they put their hands up and James says girls that brought guys should do something reallĂ˝ nice for them tonight.

I glanced round and Snow was groovin' out on the floor. It was such a fantastic night! I was doing WHAT ? ! ? Just don't listen to her. I don't dance. Never ever. Nuh-uh. Well, James said how many guys are here and half of the people rising their hands were female... ;D It'd be nice if they took into account that people here don't speak the language We just don't understand you if you talk that fast...

Steve started off wearing his shades but by the end he had shed them. That first thing thrown at James was a message I think that he put on the floor. One of the songs 'Bad' he dedicated to guess who? "This is for Josephine wherever you are." James did keep speaking to the audience and like Snow says I don't think he took into account that he was talking too fast and mostly the peeps were German. I think he was maybe too near the mic, as me and my sisters didn't catch all that he said. Steve also mumbles Snow says. I loved the first encore, where Steve plays haunting music on the keyboard and then Sean on the drums ... fab, and then Kev and Charlie came on with guitar riffs and reminded me of Status Quo. Rocked. Then James comes out and the audience goes wild. They segued into Liar and it was great. I have no words really for how good this concert was and the audience participation was echoed by the brilliance of the guys. We're too staid in England, we have to get with it girls. I luv it when peeps do the lighters thing. So atmospheric. James says "We Love You Berlin!"

Okay, about "German Jewish". They ended the first part of the show with it,and it's quite abvious that the germans (minus me, a bit) love it.
Well,I kinda made a truce with that song I guess. And it's not that I don't like it. It's just that I don't wanna dance to it.
Well, I don't dance at all, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Had a chat with Snow about German Jewish before the gig and she said she was ambivalent about the song, as it's a happy dance-y song and yet the subject matter is maybe not? Anyhow, when I looked round she was rocking with the rest of us. The audience went wild over it I thought. They also went wild when GotR finished and kept up a cacophony until they came back out. Berlin Rocks!

Goddamnit, put some more money in the slot, or whatever you do!! ;D Btw... James, come here right now! *smack* Us obsessives and gossips knew fine well who you were talking about in Bad, but did you have to tell the world? Do you think she'd appreciate that? *smacks again, just for the hell of it!*
