Rogue Slayer at Sparklies.org posted a report:
Ok, just a quick note before I collapse into bed. Just got back from the concert. Even more than before, I am convinced James is a GOD among men. He was so unbelievably hot tonight. I've never seen him live, but I've seen concert pics and to me he always looked a little tired and older than he usually looks, but tonight he was SO ON! He was totally vamping for the crowd. Blowing kisses, giving come hither looks, using his 'bedroom voice'. When asked to take his shirt off, he said that he wasn't getting paid enough to do that and that he was "a whore, but not an inexpensive whore. I'm a high-priced callboy."
I've never been a big fan of his music. I knew a couple songs they sang, but I think James is a mediocre singer. The music was good, but I could barely hear the lyrics due to the music being so loud. But James was just so gorgeous and full of energy, his presence really transcended all of that. He looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself and loved playing off the vibes of the audience.
They did confirm they were playing on the Sharon Osbourne show. Nothing mentioned of the head shaving for Ryan Seacrest, though. Probably didn't want to get murdered by the throng of women!
Steve Tartalia, James' stuntman was in the audience, he gave a special 'shout out' to him, as well as their producer 'Iceberg', whoever that was.
We have a couple of good pics, that once we get up on our site, I'll post here. Most of them turned out blurry because James is so ADD that he never stopped moving! We have some videos too, but I don't know if we can get those on the site. If we do, I'll let you all know.
And, of course, like every fangirl there will say, there was a moment when James smiled directly at me. But, no, really. It was an amazing moment, and I was so overcome I actually waved at him like a goofus. But it was such a small club, I'm sure every girl got a smile or a wink. He's just so great that way. But locking eyes with James like that....being given that wonderful smile-- it's like being hit by his whammy.......No other whammy I'd rather be hit by.
Well, under James' orders, I have to now go give my hubby 'some'. 'Course, not sure he'd appreciate it if I was yelling out James' name in the middle, so we may have to wait a few weeks until I cool down!!

Spikesfool has a nice report at Cold Dead Seed but it is in the spoilers thread so to prevent any unwary traveller stumbling across something they really don't want to see, here it is:
I just can't get the great big, huge, unstoppable grin off my face. James Marsters really does exist. He's not a figment of my imagination! Cause peeps, my imagination could never produce anything so bloody gorgeous. This is the most physically beautiful man I have ever lain eyes on. I don't know what they do to him on Angel, paint the makeup on with a trowel, glue down his hair? But in person he is just overwhelming. Arghhh.
I'm so excited I'm not quite coherent yet. I'll try to organize my thoughts.
Left home about 8am and arrived at 10am. Thought I would be one of the first but, unfortuantely, there were about 10 ahead of me. Which doesn't sound bad, but is when after sitting on the hard cement for 8 hours, 30 of their friends suddenly show up and push to the head of the line. So after 10 hours of waiting, they finally started letting us in. Stampede, of course. But yours truly is quick and mean so I ended up in the second row right in front of the microphone. Only the people right against the stage were in front of me. So magnificent view, except when the very large woman in front of me insisted on flinging her arms around and trying to push me backwards to get her friend up front. It was kind of the mouse vs the elephant, but you know who won that battle. Go me!
'k in at 8. Stand for an hour. Opening band. Comes 10pm. House lights dim. Over the loud speaker a track from the new album and suddenly, stage right, through the open door, there he is. Holy Mother of Spike. My knees went wobbly. He was bopping and singing along to the song that was playing, grinning like a megawatt sun. Huges grins and screams erupted all over the place. Then the song ended and out they come. James so juiced he was bouncing on the balls of his feet.
Sorry, but words can't convey the beauty of this man. His hair is starting to grow out a little, dark roots. I was so close (maybe 8 feet away) I could see the little loose hairs standing up all over his head. You know, the little fuzzy ones that won't stay flat when you comb your hair. I could see all the golden (at least in the stage light) hairs on his arms. And his blue eyes. THUD.
Once the show got going, I could see the sweat building on his forehead, little beads that gradually began to run down his temples and slick his cheek (no not those, but, hmmmm maybe those too. I just couldn't see that part. ) Little drops of sweat under his eyes.
Ramones shirt, washed out jeans and trainers. Pink lollipop and waterbottle that looked like it had something pink in it too. He was slugging that stuff down, didn't wait till the bottle was in his mouth half the time and once kind of spit and sprayed it. Then said, "Did I spit on you?" to the girl who got showered. Needless to say she didn't seem to mind at all and he took her hand and squeezed it.
He's stopped shaving his chest cause you could see a little bit of chest hair where his shirt was open at the top. He seemed very happy and relaxed. He was having a great time. Loved it that the audience was singing along with him.
SSS was there. I saw him in the balconey before the show started and went Look, OMG it's James and then whoops, yikes it's SSS. I tried to take a picture of him but it was pretty far away and dark so ? Also three young girls up there who James seemed to be looking at a lot and who he blew a kiss to. Before the show I saw one of the ushers escorting them around so I kind of think one of them might have been his neice. Just my guess, though.
Much sucking of the lolly, several tongue teases, a lot of pogoing and god is he cute when he does that. Almost the whole audience would bounce when he did because the energy was so damn high, it felt like the roof was going to blow off. Sometimes people would be stomping so hard the floor literally bounced.
I think there's a list over at MTS of the songs he did. I was just to blown away to write them down. Plus I took 4, count 'em, 4 rolls of film, 96 pictures! during the concert. I was thinking of you guys so much and wishing you could all be there with me. I ran them down to the 1 hour photo this morning so I'm praying a few came out. God, that close I must have gotten one or two decent ones. Tried to get as many, errrrr crotch shots as possible. 'Course his hands were always down there and holding something, the lolly or the water bottle. Once he was kind of loosing his grip on the bottle (I think) and he pushed it up against his crotch. Arrrggghhh. I had to breathe through my mouth so I didn't pass out.
The band sounded really good. James mentioned being on Sharon Osborne tomorrow night. Not a word about his coming encounter with the razor. He made a joke about having made a "mistake" once and challenged somebody to take her shirt off. Everybody including James giggled. A little later somebody yelled "Take your pants off," but it was taken as it was meant to tease him and he just waggled his eyebrows and laughed. Someone else yelled "I love you" and he was a cute and surprised and said thank you.
I missed the band leaving and the hugging. Grrrrr, grrrrr and grrrrrr. I was so bloody exhausted I just stumbled out to my car and started the drive back. If I had know, I would have hung around but if James had actually touched me, I think I would have died on the spot. So maybe better I didn't. This way I have something to look forward to cause you know I'm going to do it again the first chance I get. I'm sooooo hooked.
So in conclusion, exhausting, exhilarating, amazing. If you ever have the chance to see him in person, do it!! I'm sure I'll think of more but right now my head is still buzzing. Off to pick up the piccies.

jenjojen at sparklies.org:
It was freaking awesome. Freaking, Freaking Awesome. The Key Club personally kind of sucked, I just stared at James. But this one, wow. I was blown away. All the guys were excited and full of Energy. I thought James was going shoot off into space he was so excited. It was definetely a complete 180 degrees from the key club. James was making eyes at everyone. It was awesome. Let me start from the beginning, so i can try and remember everything.
So Charlie came out and announced the opening act. They were friends of his, and well...they sucked. Everyone was basically being polite, you know golfers clap. It really was bad.
After what seemed like forever, They left and the crew started setting up for GotR. We saw James in the doorway for a few seconds, but that was it. About 10-15 minutes later, they were all standing in the doorway. Some Hip hop song was playing, and James was going to town. He was so doing it for the people who could see him. It was really cute.
Then they all came out, and of course everyone went wild. Started with a new song, I think it was a New Man. Pulled out a sucker someone gave him, and gave it the usual treatment, BUT he was so playing with, as in PLAYING WITH IT. It was quite comical. They played almost all of the songs on Mad Brilliant, and quite a few of the new ones. Bad, was really good.
Some other James stuff. He was playing the crowd sooo much. It was great, he looked rested and energized, it was awesome. Steve Tartalia was there, so he introduced him and also the Band's new Album producer. He told the girls who brought their boyfriends and husbands to give them some lovin later that night. He told us all that we were freaking him out cuz everyone was making eyes at him (which was quite funny cuz he was making eyes at everyone in the audience). He sang to a few little girls up in the balcony during the first or second song. He was giving everyone eye contact and singing to them.
Some stupid girls yelled at him to take off his shirt. He ignored it the first few times, but after that (this goes to show how good a mood he was in) He reminded everyone what happened at the con, when the girl took off her shirt. Then he stated "I may be a whore, but they pay me very well for being that whore" Everyone got a good chuckle out of that one.
Overall it was just so awesome. The band had obviously been practicing and they played great, the only mess-up that I can remember is when they were Playing Goodbye Sweet Girl, and in the second verse James forgot to sing. The audience was singing it, but he seemed oblivious to it. So Charlie started to sing it instead. He did a pretty good job. It was really funny.
It was an awesome performance, i was ready for the worst cuz the Key Club really sucked, but they did a great job.

Tash's report in the new GOTR International newsletter.
April 24th at the Knitting Factory After a not so long wait in the line out front we finally were let in. They let us in at 8:00 as promised. The line was stretching down the length of the building and I think it was hitting the sidewalk on Hollywood Blvd. It looked like it was going to be a packed house! Center stage, Charlie on the microphone, the crowd goes nuts... What's he doing? He's announcing the opening band Aesthetic. With a grin he says, "Some good friends of mine, so show them the love!" and walks off the stage to more yelling and hollering.
Aesthetic comes out on stage. I can honestly say I don't know what to say about this opening band. They were spirited and had a great time up there. They seemed to mix different types of music and give it all a Heavy Metal slant. They kept thanking Ghost of the Robot, which I thought was very cool of them.
During the Aesthetic set, Charlie and Steve came upstairs and sat in the friends and family section of the balcony. Charlie was totally engrossed in the music, really enjoying seeing his friends up on stage. I think Steve must have known the guys too because he seemed to be enjoying them and seeing them up there under the lights.
We were sitting in the upper balcony part. Unfortunately, our view was blocked by someone standing up next to the sound-guy, so we had to watch the entire gig on the monitors. I could see bits of the band, part of Steve and Kevin at times, and every once in a while I could catch a glimpse of Sean and James, Charlie was hidden from view most of the time but I caught his head once or twice.
Once Ghost took the stage the house was rockin. People were screaming and yelling and having a great time. They opened with New Man off of their latest single. I was lucky enough to hear this song when it was still only instrumentals. Next came Valerie, a song that all of us sang along to.
I was very happy to hear the next song since it was one of my favorites, Blocking Brainwaves, but there were no crickets in the house after this performance (for those that don't understand this, buy the CD!). The opening lyrics of this had Neeq and I bouncing in our seats and singing along. I don't know if the people next to us really appreciated that, but we were having fun.
Next in line was the new song Runaway, I don't know if I've ever heard this song before but I liked it. Then came my all time favorite song Mad Brilliant, again I was bouncing in my seat, and singing along. Neeq was right there with me while we made complete fools out of ourselves.
There was a lot of screaming and yelling coming from the crowd in between the songs. James had to field some inappropriate propositions but he did it like a pro, never breaking rhythm or letting it cause problems. Kevin and Sean were joking around behind him, I think trying to draw some attention away from the remarks being thrown at the stage.
The next song they played was another new one, This Town. I have heard this once before, I believe at the Key Club. I really enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it this time. This Town was followed by the fan favorite David Letterman. This song had me bouncing up and down again, singing along. At this point I was wishing I were down on the floor.
Then came Vehicles Shock Me, which James made sure that everyone knew was written by Aaron, who is in Tijuana on his mission. James said that he was their heart and that their hearts were with him. Then came a new song that I'd never heard called Say You Worry, it was good. I want to hear this one again.
The guys seemed to be almost perfectly spot on tonight. There were only a couple of flat notes, but with live performances you are going to get that. They all seemed to be having a great time and just enjoying themselves. Relaxed is the word that comes to mind.
Then James announced German.Jewish., a song that I guess some people don't like but I think it's great. I started singing along again, this time a little lower so that everyone around me didn't have to hear me. I was also doing a bit of chair dancing, that if I say so myself, was pretty good!
Next came Over Now, a song that James said he wrote, was sappy and we were welcome to scream during if we wanted too. I love this song, it's slow, it's pretty and James sounds wonderful while singing it.
Onto another oldie (how can any song with this band be an oldie?) Call 911, sounded amazing as always and James rocked, hitting the long notes and cracking his voice right on cue.
The song they normally close with is Goodnight Sweet Girl but we were given a treat and got to hear it earlier than normal. This was another song that had this girl bouncing and singing right along.
Then much to our dismay they said the next song would be their last for the night. However, they picked a great song to go out with. It was Bad, a song that I've heard before and I can't wait to get their next CD so I can hear it again. I love this song and I think they sounded amazing on it. Then all the guys but Sean left the stage and he did this amazing Drum Solo. Just WOW.
Of course it wasn't their last song. These guys love an Encore. So they came back and played yet another new song for us called Say Its Nothing, which we were informed was the song that they would be playing on the Sharon Osbourne Show on Monday night. James said he wanted to play it earlier but that Charlie had said, "Nah, let them wait for it." James also said it was his absolute favorite song of theirs.
Katie was the last song of the night before they closed up shop. And once again their self-proclaimed "shameless pop song" caught you up in its beat and had you dancing right along.
The night was over, the curtains closed. And we left.
All in all I think it was a great gig. The guys sounded great, the crowd was energized and seemed to be really enjoying it.

I have just uploaded 10 of Spikesfool's pics (with permission!) from the gig to our main site, Musical James photo album. They start on Page 8 and continue on 9What I like about them is the energy and the wonderful poses and moods she has captured. Never mind the odd head or arm intruding into the shot, I think they really "live". Just to lower the tone, anyone on crotchwatch should be happy.
