Irish at Marsters' Mobsters gives us this: Hey everyone, I tried getting my camera in, but it's a bit hard to hide a big ol' Nikon. Glad some people got some images up though! Okay so here's my very short gig report, 'cause I have to run.
SO the show was amazing. I thought I was going to be deaf after the three bands that went on before them though! Anyways, energy was high and you could tell the guys were having fun. My friend Pam and I got a good number of winks and smiles from James after he saw me down front. Good to know I'm remembered! I got to talk to Charlie a little bit befroe the show, that was great! I ahd to leave right after they went on though because I had an 8am class today, so I had to book my little tush right back to Santa Barbara. Yippee....

Splash has given the details that I like ;D I'm anal about getting set lists! I’m normally a lurker, but since there aren’t any other reports up, I’ll try my best to give a few details.
The curtain opened, and they were all on stage already, they opened with Liar, the guitar at the beginning is such a great intro. The band was awesome as usual (although the mixing wasn’t as good as at the Knitting Factory). James said a couple of times that he was glad to be back in LA, and seemed to really be enjoying himself, he had a lot of interaction with the crowd. Steve seemed to really be having a fun; he just had a big smile on his face just about the whole time. Charlie seemed a little more subdued than usual.
The songs they played were:
Liar Goodbye Valerie Blocking Brainwaves Mad Brilliant Call 911 Katy New Man 2000 David Letterman German Jewish Vehicles Shock Me
Sorry, they may be a little out of order, just trying to remember the best I can.
I was hoping they’d play Goodnight Sweet Girl, which is one of my favorites, but they were limited to 40 minutes, which is just isn’t enough time. I Could’ve listened to them all night.
Anyway, hopefully there will be more detailed posts later.

Sorry it is extremely grainy. I could blow it up, but can't enhance it. (Pic from tiny WireImage previews.) Isn't he so cute when he smiles?! ;D

Who, what, where?! NN, did you post? Or am I blind? Okay, I'll fetch the LS report over.... back in a mo.... OK Here it goes. I warn you, it's a little long, but worth the read. Our conversations are paraphrazed as best as I can remember. Monday, the 21st, Ghost of the Robot at House of Blues. Jen and I got there early and Sarah wasn't there yet. So we had time to kill. So, we hung out a while and decided to get the keys and pull some gifts out of the trunk of her car. As we are pulling the bags out , she says, "Look, there he is. Hurry DeeDee, give them to him now." And I thought she was kidding. So I doubtedly look up and sure enough, there was James Marsters getting stuff out of the back of his car, alone. ( I will insert what he was wearing and hair etc....a dark blue T-shirt and blue jeans and his hair is pretty long and the roots were totally showing. Very sexy! Oh and the curls on the base of his neck, they were adorable. ) So, without thinking too much about it, if I did think too much, I wouldn't have gone through with it, I walked up to him and said, "James....."And he looked at me...*sigh*....and I said "I made some gifts for you and all the guys in the band. Would it be alright if I gave them to you now and you can put them in your car so we don't have to carry them around?" And he says, "Sure, But I'm in a big hurry. I'm running late for set up and sound check." And so we walked back down to his car and as we were walking I said, " Thank you so much for doing this." And he looks at me and says, "It's ok, you're very nice." *woohoo for me! I'm nice!* And he puts his stuff down and and opened the back of his car and took the bags from my hands and said "Thank you" again. So, as he's shutting the car I mention that there are M&Ms in the bags and I hope they don't melt and he jokingly said," Oh I'm off M&Ms right now."And then I tell him that there is a Red Bull in there too and he says "I still do those." And my dear friend, Jen, says, as we walk back up the hill with him, that I was being modest about the gifts and how I hand made some of the stuff myself for them and then I added that I tried to personalize each bag to each of them. Ok And I have to say, getting to walk next to and behind James is a wonderful thing. I couldn't help it. I totally checked out is butt. Then Jen asked him if he was excited about getting back to filming for Angel and stuff and he said he was. And then we parted ways and he walked in, without talking to anyone else. We were the chosen two of that moment. How special we felt. So then we had a seat on the curb and watched James walk back and forth in front of us and then Charlie and Steve arrived and Kevin and Aaron showed. So, one at a time, when the opportunity arose, I approached each of them, to let them know that there were gifts in James' car for each of them and Jen would add the 'modest' comment for me. They all said thank you and Kevin offered to give me his bass strings, but said that he kind of needed them for the concert. And Steve gave Jen and I a hug. A sweaty one. So after a lot of gazing on eye candy, they all went inside for the sound check, which we did hear. Finally Sarah arrived. I felt really bad she had missed all the previous, but I quickly and excitedly filled her in on everything. So, Sarah, *Woohoo Sarah*, arranged for us to have dinner reservations at 5:00. We ate really fast and headed for our line. We were 3rd,4th and 5th in line to get in. *Front row here we come!* At first it looked like a private show. Hardly anyone was there in line yet. I guess they all had to work. But slowly the line grew. They had total security there. We were searched, head to toe and they went through our purses and our cameras were found and we had to leave them in the car. *Thank you Sarah hun* A bummer. But I did get the security guy to crack a slight smile, they were so serious. As he waved the metal detector around my body I smiled and said, "That was my first!" And then Jen says, " I bet you didn't think you'd hear that tonight." So, we got in first and ran to our front and center spots in front of the stage. I have to say, being in front is absolutely the best! I did get a drink spilled on me though. She apologized, but I was still pretty ticked. So we saw three bands before GotR played. They were all really good and we enjoyed them. Especially "Callihan" and my personal fav. "Automatic Hotel". The lead singer and guitarist was totally flirting with us. Especially our sweet Sarah. He was smitten by her. So finally GotR came on and we were screaming and cheering. They were really tight in sound and James was sounding really great! Honestly! This was the best I've ever heard them. So into the first or second song he sees me down in front and looks right at me and smiles and mouths "Thank you" and I blew him a kiss and he smiled, at me! WOW!!!! He acknowledged me while he was doing a show!!!! Sarah gave me a big sqeeze and was squealing right along with me. So, being in front, we got a lot of smiles and stuff from him. The band was great. Charlie wasn't quite himself and I'll leave it at that. But there was a lot of interaction with all of them with each other and the crowd. They were rocking and having fun! And at one point, during a musical interlude, someone yelled to James to make Steve smile and he shakes his saying 'no' like he couldn't, and then he does a mocking pose of Steve with guitar in hand with a stern, serious look on his face. And then he laughs and we all laughed and Steve did smile. It was so great to see them have fun. And we got the usual "I love you guys" from James.

So, after they finished their last song, Sarah got her 'book' on stage, but didn't want to let go of it until she knew James got it. And we both peeked our heads under the curtain and see James picking it up from her and he said "Thank you" and shook her hand. *Yeah Sarah!* So then we hung out at the bar and met the other band, AH, and told them how much we loved them and they were totally flattered by us. And they signed some CDs for us and gave us all hugs. So we decided to wander outside . Now Jen had got the GotR set list, and I will edit this later and tell you what songs they played, and she wanted to get it signed by everyone. So Sarah had to 'use the facilities' and of course, something happens again when she's gone. First Charlie came out and we approached him and Jen asked for him to sign the list and he did and he introduced us to his 'favorite girlfriend ever' Sarah. And then he tried to take the drumstick I was holding thinking it was Aaron's. I took it back and said it wasn't. (It was Sarah's from one of the previous bands. BTW Sarah, that thing tagged me in the head before you grabbed it. OUCH!) So then we're standing around talking and HoB has valet parking, so everyone is waiting for their cars and James shows up to get his. So, we approached him again and a few other people were trying to get autographs from him and he was turning them down, apologizing but he had to decline. And some girl, the 'braid girl' keeps trying and he keeps saying no, don't people get the hint. (You know, we not once asked anything from him, we were 'nice' ) So we work our way to him and talked with him about the show. I told him how much I enjoyed it and that I'd seen them 3 times now and that was the best I've ever seen them. I said, "You guys keep getting better" and then he told me "Its' exciting to us because we have these songs in our heads and now are able to get them out to you in the same way we veiw them in our heads. You get them." And then Jen asked when we could expect the second CD and he told us how hard it is for them because they live in different places and getting them all in one is a challenge. And the fact that they all have lives. And he smiled. *Sigh* So he said they were aiming for December, Christmas time. And we chatted a little longer and all the while the 'braid girl' keeps trying to get is attention away from us. But anyone who has met him knows, he really pays attention to you when he's speaking with you. And WE had his attention, so he told her 'no', he would not go with her. Then Charlie walks up in front of everyone and says, "Dude, sign this for Reece.." And James smiles and says, "No, I just turned down 5 autographs." And gives him a 'look'. And then he proceeds to ask him again saying,"No, really...." And James grits and talks through his teeth "Talk to me later" and gave him a 'back off' look. And then I poked Charlie with the drumstick and walked off. So then we talk a little more and annoying 'braid girl' says to him that his car is there. So he walks away and it isn't his car. He's been waiting probably about 15 minutes now for his car. Getting irritated. You could tell he was tired and wanted to go home. So another group formed around him and we were just standing there and I turn around to see Steve Tartalia, James Spike stunt double. Wow! He is so cute!!! And sweet!!! So now we are hanging out with Steve and first I say "Oh my gosh! I totally know who you are! You're him! You do all the behind the scenes work!" And he says, "Yeah, I do the behind the scenes janitorial stuff." We're like "No, you are the man! You do what he doesn't do." And you know, I remember now people were looking at us and looking at him because they had no clue who he was. And I hugged him, of course. And then finally Sarah came back and joined the conversation. I asked for his autograph and he gave me one and Jen too and he joked about what she had brought for him to sign. And then he asks us if James is around and we point that he's over there and he says, "Oh! You don't want to talk to me. You want to talk to him." We kept assuring him that we loved him and he was cute. So we kind of followed him back to where James was and the two of them were talking. And you know, they do look alike. And so they are talking and Steve is asking him questions about when they start shooting and ooooooo, I heard something, boy did I hear something, but really 'I didn't hear a thing' no. I won't tell. so then we talked with james again and I showed him how Steve signed the autograph, "Bite me! Stunt Spike Steve" and then I asked whether he had had the chance to see the goodie bag yet and he said, "Sorry, I haven't. I've been busy with the show and everything." And I touched his shoulder and said it was ok, that I understood. And then Jen made another plug for me on how I made the gifts and he smiled and nodded at me and said "thank you" again. And I have to say, every time I talked with him, I touched his arm or shoulder because I do that with everyone. I'm a touchy feely person but in a totally good way. Not an 'invade your space' way.*teehee* So then he headed back to the valet for is car and because he had lost is ticket, the girl would not give him his car. "He says," Look, I'm me! James Marsters. I'm him." And she proceeds to tell him 'no ticket ,no car' and he was getting really p***** off. So he turns to all of us and says, "Ask anyone here, they can tell you who I am. I want my car." And she still isn't convinced. So we're all saying " Yes, that is James. For God's sake, give him is car!" So finally with a lot of reluctance, she brought his car up. So he loaded his stuff up and as he got in, we all waved and said "Goodbye James!" And that was our James experience. And a little funny thing, Kevin was the last of the band we spoke with and when Jen showed him the set list he says,"Hey, you stole my set list!" And she told him how the guy gave it to her and he signs it and as he does he says, "I swear, if I see that thing on ebay, I will hunt you down and put gum in your hair!" And we laughed and he left. So we hung out a little longer and then finally decided to head home. But OMG!!! What a day!!! I will never forget any of it. Thanks to Sarah for sharing it with me. It wouldn't have been the same without you there. And for letting me be the one to share the story! I actually think he would recognize me if we met again and that's pretty special tp me. I said it was long winded, but I had to share it all with you. I hope you enjoyed it!
