I've brought over Ditto's report.... the post gig stuff is gonna kill you gals, I swear!!
Just got in, 20 past 1, soooo tired. What a fantastic day and evening!
Words fail me *faints, thud*
*Rallies*
Sooo, met Maggie (all seeing eyes on the Harvest board) at Stretford Metro station, then manage to find Liverpool lol, then spend what seems like hours going round and round trying to find the car park, saw quite a bit of Liverpool which was very interesting. Saw the Adelphi! Famous hotel lol and also a yellow submarine.
Then we meander through the city centre to the Cavern whilst perusing shoe shops. Have to call in a pub for a quick drink to sustain ourselves, so I wasn't in Liverpool half an hour before I was three sheets to the wind and my sister Daphne was worse! That Maggie (a member of Camra) can't half hold her liquor! Peeps who are going to meet her on the SpikettesBus to the Harvest are in for a treat. She's the life and soul lol.
We amble up to the Cavern and a few peeps are waiting and we say hello and mention is made of Daf's GotR baseball cap and this little peep said she lost one in Crystal Palace, so if anybody finds one, it's hers.
Then we go to get more drink and something to eat, and then after lots more drink Deb decides to queue up as she is teetotal and let's face it, she just likes to queue and chat to James' fans lol.
So, me and Daf and Maggie try the Grapes, ol' world pub adjacent to the Cavern, which has a photo of the Beatles looking dead young and a section of the original 50's/60's wallpaper under glass! We took a pic.
About 20 to 8 we decide best join Deb and when I was outside the Grapes who should come up but Miss Kitty! Gave her a big hug, 'cos I love meeting Spikettes and Miss Kitty is lovely; took a pic. Walked up to join the line which was now quite long and took another pic of Miss Kitty and gorgeous daughters. I can be quite annoying taking pics.
Then what a coincidence, the friends Maggie is meeting are stood next to Deb near the front of the queue! Then Charlie comes out videoing the line up again like London and we take his pic as well.
Then we go in and guess what? Me, Deb and Daf were tickets 1, 2 and 3. I think we should have got a prize. We go round and down the curly stairs (how would you get a wheelchair down there I ask you!)
This bit I found confusing...we go in and there's a table selling GotR merchandise so we got 6 GotR 2003 Tour badges as Raindog wants one and Kate and maybe somebody else will want one (they call them pins) and a GotR teeshirt for me and another David Letterman cd 'cos now it's got extra songs on and a group signed piccie of James and the boys which was £15! We must be made of money...it's James baby!
Then we go to the bar for a drink and the confusing bit is, on the Cavern website it shows this area with a painted wall and speakers so we go there, like idiots, thinking that's where bands play lol. Finally, Deb comes up with drinks and says we're in the wrong place like lots of other peeps, so we didn't feel that foolish, but tons of peeps were lining up in this other section. What was the point of all that lining up outside then?
Anyhoo, this gel Deb's chatting to managed to finagle us near the front of that section, don't know how, and then we go in where the stage is and we end up two from the front! A miracle, 'cos I thought I wouldn't be seeing anything at all like poor Snow.
So then The Strand come on to play and they are really good. When it's the last song we all say "Aw" and the lead singer says "We don't want your pity" lol. Quite droll.
Then Charlie and the boys come out and set stuff up with some other peeps and they do this guitar riff thing which was awesome I thought. After that they all come on properly and James comes on last. Yay! GotR rock!!
Charlie does the thing half way through of going bonkers around the stage. He's soo funny. James wore a plain black teeshirt and the faded denims with a holey part near the belt (and Maggie says some loose stitching near the zip, she has 14 pics of his jeans if anybody wants one) and those nice trainers and he looked ....words fail me. A work of art somebody called him. Damn right.
They started with Liar like usual and worked their way through, but didn't do 'Dangerous' which was a shame. The show rocked. Somebody in the crowd had a red 'Spike' banner, but I wish peeps would learn to differentiate..it's GotR not BtVS tsk.
Deb took tons of pics, used up both cameras, mine and hers so then when the peep in front of the speaker on my right moves away (it was hot, the atmos, not the speaker) I moved in there and was adjacent to James and could have got some excellent pics and no film. Wah! I was in front of him and no film.
When the band all went off the crowd were shouting for more and the band seemed gone a bit and peeps started stomping and shouting "We want more" and then James comes on all higgledypiggledy and says he was sorry he didn't mean to leave us so long lol, and the guys had made him come on stage alone and he got his other guitar and said we were going to be calm for a little bit and he was going to sing Angel. Some peeps shouted some things and he tried to figure out what and said not to mess with him lol as "You're making me f***ing nervous, I'm nervous already" or words to that affect. Lol at the swearing, I heard he was trying to give up both swearing and smoking in the past, no luck there then!
He dedicates the song to Helena as usual, but adds "God Bless Her." It was dead sad, I leant against the speaker and was all sad. James sings lovely. My face must have been like a wet weekend in Morecambe and then I notice that guy was videotaping the crowd again. Bl**dy hell, I hope he didn't get me.
James also blew a kiss to someone in the crowd at the front, it could have been Sharon (Spikette) as she was right in front of him.
They played Vehicles Shock Me last. I adore all the songs. They are all excellent. When they played Letterman James explained it should have been their 'hit' but it wasn't to be. David Letterman is a jerk. I bet he won't have GotR play the song on his show for fear of being upstaged. James could steal the limelight from anybody let's face it.

So it was the end of the show and I was on a high and ready to go home after a fantastic time, but then.....OMG still can't get over it, we're all milling about near the bar and stuff and the guys are there, just chatting and signing. Our Daf was hugging all of them with a few extra for Steve, cor he's buff. I stroked his arm and he laughed. He's lovely. Charlie was an absolute sweetie, as they all were. Deb told him they'd improved immensely since Paris and he said they'd only just been together a few days then.
So then right I'm just milling about and Deb says nonchalantly James is there. I'm thinking you what?! and there he is at the flipping bar. OMG. Maggie said he passed her and she thought the back of his head was just too gorgeous and totally shaggable (her words lol) and nicer than most men's fronts! She said aloud you do all know that's James Marsters, but some peeps at the Cavern were just there for the gig, any gig, they didn't know James and the guys particularly I don't think. A couple of them looked and said he's nice isn't he? Lmao.
Deb and Daf got the cd signed by all the lads and James, he was chatting to peeps and signing stuff. I just stood next to James at the bar, like he was a magnet and I was an iron filing. I just couldn't bring myself to move away. I didn't need an autograph, I just stood next to him and basked in the gorgeousness that is James Marsters and every time he moved, he brushed against me and Okay I'm just a perv! Sorry James.
Then his minder lady came and said he had to go somewhere, so I thought he was leaving, but he turns and I'm right there lol, had to move back a bit and oh, he's so freakin' gorgeous and he throws his arms up, he's like Tigger on speed, and says this way guys. He's so funny. Then he moves away and I'm going frantic, looking for sisters and peeps, but everybody's dead nonchalant, like GotR and James are there every day. They all got hugs and autographs! It was so relaxed it was surreal.
So I get Deb and Daf and try to contain myself where's James where's James and Deb just goes "Follow the crowd" and so I do, like 3 feet and he's sat at a table with the minder lady sat close behind him and he's just all jolly and chatting and posing with gels for pics and signing and I still can't get over it. One gel sat with him and got a big hug and her film had run out, she was really fed-up. All the peeps just chatted with other peeps as if they all knew us and one another. It was a real party atmosphere.
You just had to see James, you really did. He was all charismatic and eye contact and just hands-on and gorgeous. I was too shy of course so pushed our Daf (who wasn't even gonna have her pic taken with him at the Harvest lol) down next to him and she gave him our already autographed piccie and it was autographed all over again on the back!
I'd pushed my ticket to him when Daf handed him the pic and he's chatting to all peeps aroundabout and seeing to us at the same time lol and then he signs the pic and my ticket and looks up at me ::dies:: and goes to give it back asking who the pic belonged to and me catatonic as usual points to Daf, but I'm like sortov next to him and Daf is even closer and he sortov stops the whole thing as if he was being rude and he slowly hands the pic to Daf and shakes her hand and she strokes his flipping face! What a night she had, all over GotR, especially Steve, then the buff security guard and now James! Can't take her anywhere!!!
Then he meets my gaze and I had my paw out ready and he doesn't say anything. I swear to god he remembers peeps and he knows I'm not going to chat like all the other fans so he just sort of makes contact with his eyes and smiles devastatingly, well it devastated me anyhoo. I just hold onto his hand for dear life. I love and adore James Marsters. He knows I love him, it's a bit embarrassing really, he must think what a sap!
Then we move away to give others a chance, but there really seems to be no rush. Limerick Girl off the GotR board and Daf went up to Steve a second time for hugs and he then gave our Deb a hug and a kiss!! I just leant on the bar and gazed at James. There's no hope for me.
Then we came home. Hope this all makes sense. My brain is addled with James lust and you probably won't read it as it's just me me me as usual. Sorry.

Looks like the boy was having his fun at the 6/18 Cavern gig. Look at this from exoticmushroom from MorethanSpike:
;D ;D ;D
I don’t know if anyone is interested, but I went to the Cavern tonight to see Ghost of the Robot. Do you wanna know what happened?
No? OK night!
Kidding!
Tonight was – Yowser! They were brilliant. I can’t remember what order they did stuff. And any quotes may not be spot on, but you’ll get the idea.
I joined the queue just after 7pm and got chatting to some people. I ended up going in with two great women from Glasgow, Tracy & Jo-Jo.
When we finally got in to the “Live Room” it was already roasting. It didn’t get any cooler. And Tracy & Jo-Jo were wearing heels – Bad idea!
The support band were The Strand from Glasgow. The guitarist wore weird paisley shirts and patchwork jeans. But they were really good and I wish I’d bought their CD now.
When they’d finished the guys came on to set up. Kevin, Aaron, Charlie and Steve were there. But I know who you are all waiting for. And when the all finally got on stage the noise was deafening.
James was wearing a yellow t-shirt, blue jeans and trainers. He was also sporting a lollipop. And boy did he work that thing, through several songs. Biting it, sucking it, rolling it just in between his lips whilst looking out into the crowd, knowing exactly what he was doing. He’s so naughty! And we loved it.
Later on someone passed him another and I could see it was a Btvs one with a pic of Willow on it. He said that he was just going to “Suck on Alyson”. Naughty!!
The songs were great. I think it was Katie that got us all really dancing. Charlie said he was getting p****d off because we weren’t dancing enough. So we did. And he did. Bouncing around, jumping on the floor kicking his legs in the air. At one point just before they came back on stage he did press-ups, the ones with the claps. That guy is seriously weird and funny.
They did a new one called Long Time. James wrote it and it was just him & his guitar. It was beautiful and he looked very relieved with the reaction to it. He’d looked nervous. Bless him! I like his voice on all the songs, but especially the slower ones. On this one he sounded wonderful. Such a soft, tender voice. Amazing.
It was hot. Did I mention it was hot. And the guys, especially James, sweated up a storm. James even said that he’d lost his nicotine patch. He’d sweated it off. He then said “So if I turn into an a**hole, I’m sorry.” Needless to say he didn’t.
I was really lucky to be quite close to the stage tonight. I got to see a lot of interaction between the guys and they just looked like they were having the time of their lifes.
So they left the stage. We cheered. A lot. They came back on and finished with Vehicles Shoke Me and that was the end of the gig.
But not the end of the night!
They were doing a signing of official merchandise. I didn’t know about it so hadn’t brought my CD with me. Tracy had so I joined her and Jo-Jo in the queue. So we waited, and waited, and waited. We met another nice couple, Mark and Gayna, from London. It was a good job they were nice, as it was an hour and a half later, and ten minutes before they were going to finish signing, when it was our turn.
James had been giving kisses to anyone who wanted them. From pecks on the cheek to pretty much full blown snogs. He told Tracy that the other guys were getting p****d off because he was being, in his words, “such a slut”, jokingly of course.
Jo-Jo got a kiss on her hand and Tracy got a full on kiss on the lips. I didn’t get a kiss from James. But I did get one. I went to shake Steve’s hand and he looked a little surprised. I guess most people make a beeline for James. So Steve shoke my hand and kissed the back of it. What a gentleman! I like Steve!
So I got to James. I’d had butterflies just before I got to the table, but was OK now. I shoke his hand and told him that they were brilliant tonight. He was like “Yeah?” and I was “Yeah!” Then I asked him if they were doing any signing tomorrow. He looked lost and was looking down. He looked like he didn’t know what day it was. Bless him. I said at the Scala. But I don’t think he heard me, so he leaned in. I leaned in. And had to speak right down his ear. He leaned back, shrugged, and did a “I haven’t got a clue” goofy face. I told him I didn’t know they were signing tonight as I’d have brought my CD with me. I gave it the “Darn the luck” face (or at least I hope it was that face I gave him. Worried now!) I waved to Aaron and Kevin and that was it.
It’s over three hours later. I’ve had to type this all out twice. And I’m still smiling.
I’m just so relieved that on my first occasion of meeting James I didn’t:-
1) Get dry mouth and be unable to speak. 2) Make a complete spaz of myself. 3) Say something really stupid. 4) Go for the kiss. I just know that would have gone wrong. I’d have giggled, or drooled, or broken my glasses. Something truly mortifying.
Gosh this was a long one. Hope you don’t mind me taking up so much space, and I hope that any of this makes sense. I’m just so giddy and on cloud nine right now.

Those are some great pics of James' face and arms (though I'm still not done looking at all the pics), but I am more than a little irritated at the person in the navy blue baseball cap. Their big head is in front of James'... uh... jeans... in nearly every picture! Great reports! Thank you!

You can never have too many Cavern pics. I don't think I'll take a camera to a gig or a con in future. It's going to cost me £30 to get the rest of ours out and they're bound to be rubbish, all dark and heads. Might as well get excellent ones off the 'net.
