As many of you will Know, James is appearing at the Flashback Weekend's Buffy event in May, and GOTR have been booked to play at a real nice sounding theatre, the Pickwick, almost as an offshoot of that event. Infact, part of the convention gold package is concert tickets, a signed copy of MB, seats at the front and a special audience with the band beforehand.
Well another show has been added straight after, same night, open to non-convention goers too. Concert-only tickets went on sale through Ticketmaster and from various Ticketmaster outlets on Saturday April 12.
The 10:00pm show tickets are $50, $35, and $25. Yes, $50 for seats at a theatre that boasts all seats have a great view...... $50 for a new band, trying to establish themselves outside of Cali, apparently trying to break free of the Buffy connection and yet already playing as part of a Buffy Con deal. A band with one album to its name - a fantastic first album, but one only available to those in the know, so far.... so how do they hope to attract new listeners, new fans at these prices?
I had been going to the Convention, but now can't. I would have been attending the first concert but no way would I have succumbed to the second when I have a nasty feeling our James lurve and captive audience vibe is being exploited.... what do you guys think about it? Are these reasonable prices? Compare them to the European tour gig prices (from £10 - £17 in the UK, depending on the venue), and I think not....
