Deserves a separate thread, so bringing over Wil's report:
Ok where to start?? Well first of all I have to be honest that I was feeling pretty dubious that I’d actually even get an autograph off Eliza, especially as JIG had warned us that the previous day had been really hectic and that she’d had to wait ages (5 hours I think it was) to even queue up.
Well anyway taking her advice in our stride my dad arranged for us to arrive at the venue earlier than we’d planned, and we got there at around about 9:15. The queue was already pretty huge and growing by the minute especially considering that it wasn’t due to open until another 45 minutes. Plus my worries about not meeting her were not alleviated by the knowledge that people who had gotten tickets to see her the previous day were back cause there numbers hadn’t come up and so they’d been told to come again and were promised places first in the queue, and it was pretty obvious that everyone else at the front of the queue were all eager to get there chance to meet her to.
So after having waited 45 minutes to get in the doors finally opened, and off went the wild dogs all racing to the point they knew Eliza would be at, and surprise, surprise my dad was around about 20th in the crowd going at a steady jog with the rest of them while I trailed behind lol.
Once we got to where Eliza would be signing we were ushered into a single line where people would be handing out tickets, and were politely but bluntly told that once we’d got a numbered ticket could we please bugger off until our ticket was called. Well I was given ticket number 247 or something like that and I pretty much expected a round about a 2 to 3 hour long wait, none-the-less I moved along as I had been ordered.
Whilst queuing for a ticket for Eliza I noticed Brian Thompson (The Judge) standing at his own post, and a young girl behind me waved to him and he waved back at her which was really sweet. After having received my ticket I decided to join the queue for his autograph (It was only two people at the time) but in the short time I had taken my eyes off of him he had disappeared for a couple of minutes. The stewards told us that he had gone to have a look at a stall and would be back pretty soon, at which point the two people in front of me had a change of heart and decided to come back later and so ta da I was first in the queue, which by this point had more than doubled in size. Then not 30 seconds after the people in front of me had moved but Brian appeared at his post carrying two beanie type toys. He seemed pleased that a queue had formed, turning to the stewards and saying oh there’s people here, he then said hello and placed the two beanies on the table saying that he’d got two more turds (they were cuter than the name implies lmao) at which point he placed them on the table and introduced them as ‘Flushed with love’ which wore a black top with the name across the chest, and ‘Floater’ with wore a snorkel, rubber arm bands and a ring. I figure from what he said that he brought some others the day before and had gone today to get the rest of them. He also pulled out of his pocket a trading card which was a picture of him in his first ever film role Terminator, saying that a fan had asked him to sign one the other day and that he’d wondered where he could get one for himself cause he had never seen it before, he happily showed it to us all.
He then put it back in his pocket before spending a few minutes getting all of his pens together, once he was all sorted he sat down and turned to look straight at me and twisty. His first words were ‘Ok so who wants an autograph’, I laughed and said me to which he shockingly asked why lol, and me being the total duh that I am said because, but thankfully twisty was on hand and said because we like you, and he replied thank you. I then picked my picture, having decided to get a Judge one with fire in the background because it was different and unusual to any others I had seen. I paid for it and he signed it for me “To Paula “watz that do?” Brian Thompson” lol, and he told me that that line was one of the his favourites. My Dad then asked if he could take a picture of the two of us and he quickly agreed, leaning over the table and placing his arm around me. He then shook my hand, and so twistie asked if she could shake his hand to saying that it was really nice to meet him, he told her it was nice to meet her to and we walked away, ready to stroll the isles for hours for our numbers with Eliza to be called.
Surprisingly within half an hour we were on our way to join the queue with Eliza, my number having been called out only seconds ago. The stewards were being there usual miserable self and refused to let twistie come with me to get the autograph, and so nerve-wrenchingly I was on my own *gulp*. First on the agenda was picking a photo for her to sign and sadly there was only one faith-esque one available all of the others being either tru calling or bring it on and so I picked that one my Buffy solidarity winning through, plus it was a cool picture so I didn’t mind.
And as is the willowwood tradition I had brought her a cute teddy with a union jack jumper on which I was eager to give her, along with a card within which I had said some of thing I knew I wouldn’t have the bottle or the chance to face-to-face. Quickly the queue moved down Eliza signing pretty steadily but still taking the time out to talk to each and every person.
About two people in front of me stood an elderly gentle man and when it was his turn to get Eliza’s autograph he handed her a blown up picker of one of her sexier, less clothes wearing poses. To which Eliza laughed and said my mom hates that picture and held it up turning to an older woman who was sat directly next to me, and her mom covered her face up and shakes her head laughing. Smiling Eliza then says I’ve never signed this picture before I’m blushing; the man smiled and hid his face before walking away.
Next a woman in front of me gives Eliza a copy of the watchers guide to sign and you can see that a number of other stars have already signed it, well anyway Eliza picks up a silver pen and the woman has the blind cheek to ask her to us another pen, something about it not drying properly or something. Eliza nicely changes pen, sounding surprised about the silver one not drying properly or what ever rubbish excuse the woman used.
Then it was my turn, with a beaming smile I said hello and she smiled back at me as I handed her the photograph which she put on the table in front of her. I then told her that I had gotten her a present and she seemed slightly shocked, but pleased and taking the bag off of me she looked inside of it and pulled the bear out placing it on the table next to the pens and stuff for everyone to see, she also saw the card and places the bag down next to her. She said that the present was sweet and asked me my name, and if I was from around here. To which I replied that I didn’t live far away, she then moved to sign the picture but stopped and asked me what colour I wanted her to use, I was shocked and insisted that it was up to her and with a smile she replied that the silver looks better especially on the picture I had chosen, I agreed and she handed it to me having signed it “To: Paula w/*Heart* Eliza Dushku”. Then I walked away happy as Larry and relieved I hadn’t lost my voice to nerves.
Unfortunately they weren’t allowing posed photos with Eliza, but my dad managed to take some whilst she was signing others people’s objects and I was in the queue waiting for Brian’s autograph.
From there we didn’t really stay at the event much longer having a quick look around and picking up what ever took our fancy with the remaining money I had which turned out to be two of the new Willow figures (Doppelgangland Willow and season five Willow), a cast t-shirt, and a limited edition Spike, Dru and Angel art print (both of which Twistie brought).
Well I think that’s about it, if I remember anything else I’ll add it later, and I’ll see if twistie can add any more when she wakes up. I don’t know parents no stamina for anything.
