As I'm doing a bit of post-tour housekeeping and *poofing* some threads, I am bringing a reminder in here of the link for the lovely pics and reports from James on his English tour. www.jamesmarsterslive.com

Lovely, I agree! One more pic of James - surprised there was any merchandise left for him to be pushing around. Bet the boxes were empty! - and a little thank you message from the gang: www.jamesmarsterslive.com/

Finer Than Gold, oh how we loved it Cobbled together from a few sources and memories, inc bookworm, chrusuk and me! Does this sound right? (I can hear him singing it when I read the lyrics....) Finer Than Gold I forgot what you looked like I forgot your skin I wanted to stand up Make you a mountain I wanted to gather Some stars in my hands Throw them before you Like they were sand 'Cause I wanted you glowing So you could see What I am seeing When I behold you I forgot your skin I'm not a rich man I just had to prove Gathered some gold dust And flung it on you But gold doesn't suit you Not on your skin Like a drunk in the morning It just doesn't fit in You're finer than gold Finer than gold Finer than gold So now I sit here alone in my room Holding this necklace Thinking of you I just want to break it Dig it a hole I know you forgive me 'Cause how could I know You're finer than gold Finer than gold Finer than gold So happy birthday I don't have a gift I've spent all my money I only have this You're finer than gold You're finer than gold Finer than gold

DebW was trying to get the chords right... but she said there were barre chords (which my hands are too small and weedy to deal with). I wonder how she's getting on with it...

Badly! that boy plays some whack chords , barres, slides and all up the neck I can get a version of it if I transpose it but it's not as simple as it sounds nice to have the words though Rod's gonna have a go later he has big hands and can hold a barre ;D OK without barres it transposes as a pattern around D then a chord I don't know where you move one finger from the D shape to the A string then A

Might have a go at it transposed, then, see if I can work it out... but not tonight, I've already played for an hour, fingers hurt too much. D-something-A? Hmm... tomorrow or Saturday, I might give it a go. Thanks for the pointers!

Okay, this may prove that I am older than the hills (or not, I guess it just depends what you were reading and what music you were into back in the day!), but it seems a few people don't know who the frilly heck CSM is! I used to read the NME and I was into punk/new wave and he was a prolific music journo then (was before and after too, but that's when he came to my attention. I used to subscribe to Q mag, more recently, too until my living space became swamped with too many mags!). He is also a respected author (and has written a book on John Lee Hooker, hence the reference to him on JMLive) and has obviously met loads of really cool artists and bands, lucky bugger! So it is kinda fascinating and wonderful that he was hanging out with James, oh yes! ;D Interesting link if you want to know more

lol... I don't think I've read NME for about 10 years! And then I was just trawling through for snippets about Suede. I never really took much notice of who the writers of articles were... ;D

I remember CSM from the NME PK. He had a distinctive look as well as an unforgettable name. Bet he knows everything there is to know about music! I also remember Ralph McTell (you were talking about him somewhere), but only by name, can't for the life of me remember his songs . Can you enlighten me?
