I know what you mean about Charlie's singing soulmate. I love his vulnerable qualities on SLAPP, live and recorded.

Loving 'New Man' the more I hear it....ignoring Country Live-In , and 'The End' is growing on me . I thought James was singing on TE, but yes, there is a difference to NM, and TE, in the voice quality....James' voice has improved much from Mad Brilliant, and Charlie sounds like early James, and he DOES have a certain plaintive quality to his voice that is endearing....bless!

I often listen to "Mad Brilliant", Az... I don't think you'll like the single. It came at last. Listening to it for the second time right now. What do I think? Well.... for me, New Man is overproduced *ducks* Give it to me live, baby! The guitars and drums are great and very GOTR (yup, they do have a particular sound), but I could live without the fuss and nonsense at the beginning and to a certain extent the end (no pun intended, given the final track!). And the playing with the vocals sounded to me like trying too hard to be a grown up band *ducks again* These are first impressions, okay? I have seen them perform New Man and I wouldn't have recognised it... Country Live-In makes me smile, for the most part, and my buttocks are definitely twitching along on my typing chair! Lol! Again, love the guitar and drums, and the tinkly piano. The End... hmmm *passes Charlie a whip to help him self-flagellate* I'm not sure.... Violin is cool, though! Doesn't hold a candle to SLAPP in any way, for me.

Thanks for the revire PK. It makes a change to hear someone with an honest opinion about the music. I'll definatley have to listen to the single and the album before buying. Its not as if I can go by their live music as it was after The Cavern that I boughtthe album expecting it to be just if not more amazing.

Damn, I need to go round to Debs and get this. Can't wait to hear it now. I don't think I'm a fan of Charlie's singing voice. Think the only time I heard him or was aware of him singing was in Paris and to be honest, it was excruciating, but maybe I'm wrong. I will give it all another whirl and give you my opinion (I just know you're all agog to hear my opinion lol). ;D I really only have ears (eyes, hands, feet, everything) for James so my opinion doesn't count for much. You don't think Charlie will come in here do you? Maybe I should delete that? I wouldn't want his feelings hurt. He's such a nice boy and very huggable in fact I had to prize Daf away at the Cavern...

He and they put themselves out to the world, so have to expect comments! I love Charlie's singing of SLAPP, especially live. But um... not so much on this one...

WTF!!! Where's James? No gorgeous melting James rasping for me to drool over and lose my cool. What a hoot yesterday. Me and Daf hotfooted it round to Deb's and she's sprawled on sofa reading the ol' fanfics and taking it easy as partner and whippersnapper doing the visiting thing too. So she puts the CD on and then starts pogoing round the room. Me and Daf were holding our sides. You had to be there of course, but take my word for it, our Deb's excruciatingly funny when she gets going....she then says well you can't dance to it can you and she does what we do all ladylike and 70's and dancing round the bags. Well, that set us off again. ;D Thing is, I can see James pogoing to this..... The first track was not bad, my foot was tapping, but the instrumental (too Hendrix for my taste which remark would prolly make them preen lol) and the last little ditty.....well...sorry, guys.....you need something with a flaming hook! Where's your hit number 1!!! Once you have that, then you can go all high falutin' ... This garage drivel's gonna get you nowhere. AND USE YOUR LEAD SINGER NEXT TIME YOU MORONS. Your most loyal fan..Ditto

Well, it IS him on New Man.... I think David Letterman was the one that could have done it, if they weren't so busy trying to do it all themselves, and then getting shy about pushing it to DL himself.
Lol, I can see Deb now! ;D

Doesn't sound like him. Not exactly Smile or Goodbye is it? Daf says she's not standing too near the front if they're playing the new single, she doesn't fancy a headache. ;D I liked the first one really, *taps foot* but could have done without the second bit and the third just didn't hold my attention...
