Snippet from an interview with Chibbers and Stokesy for Classic Horror (but there are other mild spoilers for S2 in there so only click to read the whole thing if you want them). Another anticipated guest star is James Marsters, best known as Spike on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." "He's a character who's a match for Jack," is all that Chibnall will say. "I can tell you he's absolutely brilliant. I've seen all the filming that he's done. I know he's had a great time. He did a gig in Cardiff while he was there. Wrote a 'Torchwood' song, I believe! An absolutely delightful man. Brilliant actor. Him and John Barrowman together, on screen, the scenes are fantastic. It's such fun!"

No sign of James prowling the Cardiff streets as yet... No sign of filming at all at the moment, infact. They must be trying to keep it a secret *snorfle* Too late, Gareth let the cat out of the bag ages ago ;D

AfterElton commenting on James's recent remarks re TW in the Boston Now interview: James Marsters (looking adorable at top) on his hotly-anticipated Torchwood role: "I'm introduced and kiss the hell out of the male lead and then kick his ass. Or maybe he kicks my ass. We kick each other's ass." Ah, new love...
These guys love TW, natch.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007 I've just received word that filming on series two of Torchwood has now been completed. There's still a number of pick-up shots left to film (including some with James Marsters, apparently) and post-production work continues in the editing suite and at the Mill, but as far as the actors are concerned it's a wrap for another year.
---
UPDATE: Filming isn't quite finished - John Barrowman and James Marsters film some of the final scenes at Ogmore Farm, just outside of Cardiff, tomorrow [that would be today, Thursday - PK]. Torchwood

Some very spoilery stuff from today's filming has been posted at OG's set reports thread. You have to be a member to read the forum though. If you can't access and want to be spoiled, I can give the edited highlights.... Look away now if you really don't want to know.John hijacks Jack, who yells at him to take them back and punches him for good measure. Jack's brother, yes brother, is there too, hugs Jack then stabs him. Jack and bro fight and Jack falls down into a hole in the ground. Oooh err! Thanks to Rhiannon for location stalking par excellence!

I hope I'm doing this right-- I did a search and didn't find anything on this; but I'm new at the posting thing, so please forgive me if its already on here somewhere: Torchwood Returns with a "Life-changing Event"
When John Barrowman's time-traveling, bisexual, alien-fighting Captain Jack Harkness returns on Jan. 26 for a second season of Torchwood, look for what BBCA calls "a life-changing event for one of the team." James Marsters of Buffy/Angel fame, who most recently did his sci-fi thing on Smallville (and is expected to return in a January episode) is due to guest-star on BBCA's highest-rated series, as is Alan Dale (Ugly Betty) and Doctor Who's Freema Agyeman.
Marsters, who says he wrote five songs for his new solo CD Like a Waterfall while filming in Wales, tells us he plays a time-agent criminal "with a lower-class English accent" who's not that unlike his sexy bloodsucking Spike "before the wheelchair. He goes around in different times killing people with no remorse at all."
Marsters says he had a "fabulous" time doing the Who spin-off. "They're a randy bunch over there," he says approvingly. In other good news for fans, Torchwood: The Complete First Season goes on sale Jan. 22, with a seven-disc set that includes six hours of bonus features. — Ileane Rudolph community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-News-Blog/Todays-News/Torchwood-Returns-Quotlife/800027863 ;D I had hoped we in the states would get to see him too!

Chibnall on James, from the excellent Death Ray mag interview, transcribed by Clare on TWForum: DR: And then, of course, there’s a guest role for Buffy’s Spike himself, James Marsters, and I think it’s safe to say there’s a lot of interest in that…
CC: Yes, frighteningly so. He kind of embodies the sense of fun and adventure that we’re bringing to the show in its second year. His character is an absolute match for Jack, in every way, and James himself is an astonishingly good performer. I’ve followed his career through Buffy and Angel and Smallville, but I’m not sure I knew how superb he was until I saw the stuff he’s dong with us. He’s a very bold, charismatic, funny and emotional actor. His performance in TW is just brilliant; I can’t say enough good things about him. Yes, he plays it English, and no, I wouldn’t know if he’s as good a kisser as John Barrowman has said. I’d have to rely on John for that! Bit he’s a brilliant character to kick off the series - he’s likeable and exciting.

I have never seen Torchwood (gasp! ) cos i dont watch any more - just DVDs. But, sometimes there is an advantage in working in a library - I just requested the first one of the first series, so I'll know whats going on when James gets there (for some reason - we only seem to have the first dvd, and none of the others...!hmm, might be putting in an order!) so will be letting you know what I think when I get to watch it. (and I ws going to check out the Dr Who episode it starts from, but somebody has just taken that one out whilst I am sitting here writing this!) Rosie

If folks can handle a bit of info from the press screening today of this first ep - including the title - check out SFX. *** And you might want to press your remotes in the UK for ITV's teletext service (was page 135, but I don't know how fast these things change) ;D

I guess this story is resurfacing now because of the press release and screening this week, but both James's and John's original takes on the scene were far more funny and interesting, weren't they... Daily Express - it took me a supreme efort of will to type that rag's name ;D Nice pic they used to illustrate the piece though; makes a change from old Spike ones. PR-Inside - 'terrified' is a very strong word...

Fab review of the first ep at Firefox - do go read it all (I'm so thrilled with all the Ianto comments!) but here are the James bits: Finally, in James Marsters, the series has found a truly spectacular guest star. Swaggering out of the rift like an escapee from a glam-rock convention, his Captain John is Jack with no moral compunctions, an utterly charming, utterly ruthless sociopath who is more concerned with keeping himself amused than doing the right thing. He sparks off every team member fantastically well (The confrontation between him and Ianto is a particular standout) and his cocky, swaggering delivery really helps with the episode's breakneck pace. Chibnall has said that John is something of a statement of intent for the series and based on this appearance, that bodes very well for the future.

I'm posting the whole article in the regular TW thread, but this is from the Beeb, relating to ep 1. And look how they are still being coy about transmission date Torchwood – Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang Ep 1/13 Unplaced Day and time to be confirmed BBC TWO www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood
JohnThe second series of Torchwood, the award-winning drama created by Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies, premières on BBC Two. This time it's bigger and bolder, with more fun, adventure and excitement for the alien-fighting team. <snip>
In the first episode of the series, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, by co-producer and lead writer Chris Chibnall, Captain Jack is reunited with the Torchwood team as they face a rogue Time Agent. The mysterious Captain John Hart, played by James Marsters (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), is determined to wreak havoc, and needs to find something hidden on Earth. But with Gwen's life in danger, and cluster bombs scattered across the city, whose side is Jack on? <snip>
Following on from that, Torchwood Declassified goes exclusively backstage to reveal the secrets behind some of the first episode's sensational stunt sequences and talks to John Barrowman, James Marsters and Russell T Davies.
