Ok - just back from seeing PSILY My biggest complaint - NOT ENOUGH JAMES!!! ;D Far too little of him, but what there was was good and I'm afraid whenever he was on the screen, thats where I was looking! Sod the story, thats James, just keep the camera there guys...yum! And they cut his big scene the one which all the stills come from, when he's got the guitar. Otherwise - I thought it was pretty good - in fact a lot less soppy and mawkish from what I remember from the book. Bit disjointed at times, but some good funny lines (mostly from Lisa Kudrow) and I didnt get bored - didnt cry either...!Don't like Hillary Swank tho, thought she wasn't right for the part at all - too thin and mean and shes nothing to look at - like a ugly Julia Roberts. (oo, Im such a bitch!) Thought all the guys in it were fairly tasty, but I only had eyes for one. ;D ;D Go and see it - if you really hate it, you can leave when they go to Ireland, cos James isnt in it after that (apart from a couple of stills at the end) so you aint missing anything!! Nice little fix before the big event next Wednesday..... ;D

Forgot to say...when Mum was in the hairdressers last week one of the ladies had been to see it and she loved it. Her and Mum were talking about it and she thought it was great. Mum and the sisters loved it too. I was expecting it to be awful and was a bit tense thinking I'd get it in the neck when we all came out but no! Mum says on James' first appearance 'Is that him? That's him isn't it?' Then when he appears in that suit, she says 'I've changed my mind about him, he's handsome.' This is phenomenal and fulsome praise from Mum, she's usually scathing. So that's a 10/10 from me, Deb, Hayls and Mum. Daph cried off due to the reviews which shows one should never listen to reviews. I still couldn't finish the book though...

If you haven't seen the movie, and don't really want to but would like to see the JM scenes, you will learn something to your advantage at Marsters Daily.

Apparently there are one or two deleted scenes featuring James on the DVD, which might make it more worth buying? Quite a kind DVD reveiw at RealMovieNews, but they do say:

I have seen it on someones computer and I must say it is S**t until James lights up the screen ;D ;D I don't know how the editor could have made it so boring and the director and script writer can't get away with such drivel as well and I've seen one deleted scene on you tube and well if not for James laugh (it might be an out take) that was as well Hope this works

Oh yeah PK, here is my take on the plot, if you want to be kind of spoiled they fall out with each other seams like all the time, and the he dies ,then she is so upset she can't get over it and has a awful box made for his ashes and then he has letters and things sent to her (this to help her get over his death ) I'll not tell you the rest of the drivel plot ,but then again I shall get the DVD from library and see if I was right

Oh, I tried to read the book remember, but gave up as it was badly written (IMO), so I know what's meant to happen. But as they don't seem to have improved on the original product I'm not remotely tempted to watch.
That being said, it did good box office.

Y'rotten lot! It was alright imho...book was drivel yeah, and I couldn't finish it neither but the film's okay. Worth a watch...not enough James by far, they should have left those scenes in.

I liked it. Gerard Butler, Jeffrey Dean Morgan AND James! What's not to like? ;D ;D And yes, I admit to being completely shallow. ;D My only complaint is that there wasn't enough James! And his big scene should never have been deleted. It was fabulous! How could they not keep it in? Not the type of film I usually go for, but worth watching for James and the pretty alone. ;D

Thanks for that Cal, I'm ashamed to say I bought it even with all the bad reviews, I was seduced by the lovely photos of James and I do kind of like her quirky, slightly wierd books if I need to read something that needs no effort at all!

Watched it last night. James looks absolutely gorgeous in it but his best scene is in the extras. They really should have kept it in and made cuts elsewhere. The opening scene went on and on and was just so irritating that I had to fast forward, actually did this several times. Loads of changes from the book, but that was ok as the book is not that good. Kathy Bates was fantastic as usual. It's definitely worth buying for the James bits but Imight wait for the gargain tub too. Thanks Rainbow
