here's the first part of my Boston ramble - there's not a lot of James in this - but never fear - he will be making an appearance very soon! ;D Rosie goes to see James at the Megafest, in Framingham MA
Friday 20th NovemberAn extra unexpected trip making it lucky number 7 to the US this year! Talk about poor but well travelled! And this was really a flying visit – I left London on Friday morning and was on a plane home again from Boston at 8.30pm on Sunday! Just the two nights actually at the hotel – Some would say I’m nuts – I just say I’m a James fan…! Boston looked really lovely from the plane – The weather was clear and sunny so it was easy to see the amazing coastline and fabulous looking houses. It was a shame I wasn’t going to be able to see anything of it really, as Framingham is about 20 miles from the centre of Boston, but there you go. I’d been for a while before this trip, I had been coughing relentlessly for about 2 weeks – it had calmed down but being on the plane set it off again. Once I was through immigration (the fastest ever – about 10 minutes if that!) I went outside to wait for my taxi and just coughed and coughed until I was almost throwing up (which had happened rather a lot in the previous weeks!) I just hoped I was going to be able to hold it back in the taxi! It was a shared van ride and we had a nice driver who pointed out various Boston landmarks – we drove past the Red Sox stadium. (Even this Brit has heard of the Boston Red Sox!) The driver said the weather was incredibly warm for the time of year (nearly 70 degrees) normally they would be having the first snow about now It took about 45 minutes to get to the hotel - The Sheraton. Having seen the pictures on the Megafest website, I knew it was done like a castle, but in fact it was a very bad mock-Tudor job with very false black and white timbering (which was in fact brown anyway!) which rather gave me the giggles (especially when I discovered inside that the elevator doorways had been made into arches to match!) First person I met was Joyce who was sitting in the lobby having been there since 10.30am – it was now about 4pm - and Barbara. I introduced them to each other and said I was going to quickly check in and drop my stuff off and then I had to find a cup of tea! I was sharing with Magie and Amy Sue but they would be arriving a little later. Once in the room I was able to have a massive coughing session which did result in me throwing up rather a lot – though I blame some of it on the horrible coronation chicken sandwich I had on the plane! I felt much better after that so went to join the other 2 downstairs and have a nose round to see what we could find out about the con. Basically – nothing was set up yet – there was another event going on in the main room and nothing about the Megafest at all. As the hotel was rather out on its own, we were a bit of a captive audience and there was only the one bar to go to for anything to drink at this time.– Despite it being a bit expensive, I was heading that way - I didn’t care what it took me to get a cup of tea! . We were on our way to the bar after exploring a bit and we met up with Froggy. He’d been there since the day before thinking he would be able to set up ready – but no – they hadn’t even told him where he was going to be yet so he was just hanging around waiting. He said he would join us later. We sat at the bar, I had my mug of tea (ah – bliss!) Joyce was determined to enjoy herself as it was her birthday weekend so she got stuck into the strawberry daiquiris. We were having a very hilarious time – it was just so nice being able to sit and chat and laugh. Then a voice behind me said “They’ll let anyone in here these days!” – It was Jeff from J&J collectibles! Big hugs all round and he joined us at the bar. (James2 wasn’t going to be there sadly as he was working elsewhere) We were then joined by Froggy so we bought him a beer (to make sure he made us look beautiful in our photo ops!) and he was entertaining us with stories of previous cons and telling us about what was happening with the Marriott in Atlanta after he had all the equipment stolen. And Jeff was talking about sponsoring James at another con later in the year – but I’m not sure which one….! Then Amy Sue arrived – she said she knew where to find me having seen my stuff in the room, she guessed I would be in the bar! (how do I get this reputation when I don’t even drink??) I was so glad she was there as after Philly, I didn’t think I was going to get to see her again before February. Not long after she joined us, she had a text from Magie saying she had just landed at the airport. Froggy promptly stole Amy Sue’s phone and started texting Magie back about the drink she owed him. The reply, when it came was a succinct “Huh?” We all fell about laughing as we had said that’s what she would say – so Froggy texted her back again. The next thing is Amy Sue’s phone was ringing – she answered it and then grinning, handed it over to Froggy. It took a while for Magie to realise who she was talking to as Froggy’s voice hadn’t got ‘froggy’ yet – too early, he hadn’t talked enough! Amy Sue said that when she answered the phone, Magie didn’t even say hello – she just said “Amy Sue. Explain!” Then Froggy wanted to take bets on the likelihood of Steve wearing a grey hoody when he arrived – he did say the odds were very much against us as it was more than likely that he would be as he seemed to own a endless supply of them!! We were getting hungry, so we got an order-in menu from reception, repaired to our room with a few extra people and ordered pizza. Whilst we were waiting, we tried to work out a better way to put the cot so we could move round it. Amy Sue and I tried to bring it round the side of the bed having first lifted the armchair out the way – but it wasn’t going to fit, so we were at a bit of a loss until Barbara pointed out it would fit under the desk if we moved the desk chair. So we started moving everything back again which for some reason gave us the giggles and you know what its like then – you get too weak from laughing so cant do anything! This was a recurring theme through the whole weekend – I haven’t laughed so much or so hard in a long time – and none of it was particularly funny, it was just a very laughter filled time. Anyway, we got the furniture sorted to our liking and it worked fairly well – though we all kept scraping our shins on the sticky-out bits of the bed all weekend! Magie arrived before the pizza and said that maybe the cot could go round the side of the other bed – which just set us off again as we tried to explain we had already been there and tried that…! After pizza and catching up, we decided to go exploring again and find out what was going on – had a look in the ballroom which was where everything was going to be going on – dealers at one end, autographs at the other and it really wasn’t that big. At least now they were letting the dealers set up – it was about 8.30pm by now. Other than that, there still wasn’t a lot of information – it seemed that wristbands would only be able to be collected the following morning, though as platinum holders we could get ours early at 9.30am. There was no schedule or anything up anywhere to say what was when! Standing in the hallway outside the bar, who should we see walking towards us down the corridor but Steve! (and I was glad I didn’t take that bet with Froggy – cos guess what Steve was wearing? Yup – grey hoody!) I immediately ran down the corridor towards him with my arms out and then at the last minute turned to embrace his helper instead…! Steve was able to tell us that James was doing his Q and A at 11am in the morning so at least we knew that and we already knew when the photo ops were. We let Steve go and have something to eat – though we ended up taking over the big table in the bar shortly after near them. By now we had collected Carol and Rob (though Rob didn’t join us as he stayed with their daughters) Iesha and Charity as well. And Jeff joined us later too. We all ended up ordering desserts and just chatting and catching up and it was great. Many silly pictures were taken – Magie being a total lush having collected everyone’s drinks round her and Jeff doing his Captain Morgan impression! At one point I realised Charity, who was facing towards the bar was saying something so I turned to her just as she hissed again “James!” and indicated with her head. I turned round quick, just in time to see James leaving the bar area – he’d just come and got a drink. Just a brief glimpse and he was gone. None of the others had seen him, or had even realised what Charity was saying, so I was pleased I had just got that tiny glimpse. I couldn’t tell you what he was wearing or anything – just that he was there! Steve came over to us again on the way out and chatted a bit more and we exchanged friendly insults! I adore Steve and his dry sense of humour and dead-pan comebacks. I hope he insults me all the time because he knows I can take it (James did say once that he only did that if he liked you..!) I was beginning to flag now as my body clock was telling me it was gone 3 in the morning and I had got up at 4.30am – so it was bedtime for me. Organised Magie tried to request wake up calls but the phones in our room were not really playing ball – it took quite a while to get through anywhere! I did have to get up at one point and go in the bathroom to have a good coughing session, but luckily didn’t wake the other two at all!

The Rosie Ramble - Part 2 - Saturday
Saturday 21st November
The alarm calls paid off – especially as we couldn’t stop them even when picking the phone up! (Had to press a button as well) I didn’t have to poke Magie to get her up she was moving (if not actually awake!) and tried to order breakfast for us. But the phone was against us again – none of the buttons on either seemed to lead anywhere, so she was reduced to pushing them at random. The one that did work was the emergency one! Magie was most apologetic and they put her through to the right place – but hell, it was a kind of emergency – we wanted breakfast!!
I got in the shower fairly promptly and when I came out, the other two were giggling hysterically. Amy Sue had brought a couple of the James standees with her that Patti made – one of James on the red carpet at the DBE premiere and one of Spike and Capt John back to back – and they had been taking pictures of Magie having threesomes and foursomes with them in bed!! Magie then went in the bathroom and of course I had to up the ante – I was just wearing a rather pretty pair of black knickers at this point and I posed against the wall using the two standees to cover my other two…um…er…assets! And yes there is a picture…!!!!
As ever, I was ready first and so Amy Sue and I left Magie to it and went down to see about getting wristbands. We were all platinum which meant we got in early and got the front seats. There was a huge queue down the corridor of people waiting to get in, but we went to the front and got ours with no trouble and were let in first.
The whole shebang was just in the ballroom and the corridors outside. The first thing we did was identify where the Q and A would be as James was first up - it was a room of the main ballroom. Having done that, it was time to find Froggy who was in a room that was just off the corridor that was full of dealers - nowhere to queue or anything! (Apparently this was the first time this con had had a professional photographer so they obviously didn’t know what to expect!) There was no one at his table so I stuck my head round the door and said “Hey Froggy – I’ve come to give you large amounts of money….!” which got Sarah out to start selling photo ops. I bought all mine in one fell swoop and then went to check out where James’s autograph table was – he was in the middle of three tables on one side of the room which had a large empty space left in front for queues to form – Ray Park on one side and Brett Spiner on the other. I didn’t think it was going to be that easy to try and get photos whilst James was signing as it would probably get crowded, but hey, I could only try.
Then as there was nothing much else to see, I started back to the Q and A room – it had two entrances – one from the ballroom itself which was blocked with a porters trolley and various dealers boxes, so the queue started at the other door . On the way there, I met Steve who said “Just to warn you, the Q and A room is the smallest I’ve ever seen!”
Barbara and Joyce had started the queue by the other door so I joined them. There really wasn’t a lot of room to form a line – the dealers were packed in close so it always felt crowded - but it soon started to take shape down the next corridor - as ever James was proving to be a big draw! We hoped they would let us go in as the time was moving on towards 11am, because of course we wanted good seats and there wasn’t that many! Barbara stuck her head round the door and worked out there was only about 120 seats in the room.
Anyway – they let us in – and it was tiny. Just 6 seats on each side of the central aisle. I got the front aisle seat on the left and it was certainly going to be a very intimate Q and A – there was no stage, just a table against the wall and three chairs. The furthest away James was going to be from me was about 5 yards, and for some of it he was practically going to be in my lap!
For the first Q and a they had a guy who was going to do the introduction ask James some questions and then call on people for their questions – though he admitted to us in the front row he was just helping out, he wasn’t really sure what he was doing! They disappeared to find a mic and as the time had gone past 11, James obviously got fed up waiting and came to the front with Steve (to much cheering and whooping!) and said he was here, lets get on with it!
This was my first proper view of James this weekend (the quick glimpse the night before doesn’t count!) and most immediately obvious thing – those curls! OMG – absolutely utterly gorgeous! Longer than ever, either just wet or with a bit of gel so pushed back off his head but already a few curls were trying to escape. He was wearing blue jeans, a long sleeved brown shirt with a round neck and a few open buttons down the front. He was also wearing the grey canvas shoes (laces in a double bow!) and the thin silver chain round his neck. And he looked fantastic – back to his normal bouncy self, moving totally freely with no hint at all of the injury from a few weeks previously. I knew he had recovered but it was wonderful to see it for myself. And there he was, just a few feet in front of me, sipping coffee from one of the hotels black mugs and grinning out over the audience. I think I gave a little happy sigh to myself – James was here, he looked great and there was still the whole weekend to go!!
The guy asking the questions came back (sans mic!) which was good as James had no problem being heard in that room – he said, proclaiming in a deep voice in the best actory way “We will have to use our voices!” (and no mic makes for so much better pictures!) He was sitting on one of the chairs at this point – I think he stayed there for about 30 seconds before he was up and off. He was walking around, perching on the table, standing with his arms folded and later turned one of the chairs backwards so he could kneel on it and lean on the back!
As usual, I was busy taking pictures so I didn’t make a note of any of the questions – I do know it was a nice varied lot covering all sorts of aspects – some old favourites, but that’s never a problem as there was quite a few newbies in the audience. There were Buffy questions and Torchwood and Smallville and some good ones about voiceover work – James talked about doing the play for the BBC – he couldn’t remember the name of it so I was first to call out the reminder to him - “And Then We Came To the End”– he grinned and nodded thank you.
The best bit for me was about a third of the way in – James was standing up and was gesturing to illustrate what he was saying and then put his arms up over his head, which caused his shirt to ride up showing a bit of tummy – always a pleasure! I managed to get a shot of it – but that wasn’t the best bit! With his arms up, his belt was revealed and with a suddenly pleasant jolt of recognition, I realised it was the belt that I had given him at DragonCon! (at breakfast in Philly he had said his belt was falling apart, so I bought him the new one and gave it to him at DC – that’s when Steve said his house was falling apart and could I…?!)
I was really shocked – in a very nice way – and then was grinning in delight! I have given James a few t shirts before, but this was the first time I have ever seen him wearing anything I’ve given him. And there was no doubt it was the one, it was easy to recognise as it had an unusual 2 prong buckle. Every time it showed after that, I was smiling happily to myself.
I’ve always loved giving gifts – I can’t help but try and find the right things for people – it’s instinctive for me. I have to put thought into it and I think it is true that the giver can get more pleasure than the receiver from a gift, though how it is received is always important. James always seems delighted with every gift he receives - we know he wears t shirts he is given (and uses Chow the guitar all the time!) and I know he has read books that I have given him, but its lovely to actually see it for yourself and know you got it right!
The question I do remember was Barbara’s about what James thought of the Buffy dailies from Season 6 being all over YouTube and on DVD. He was totally shocked, not having known that and said it was probably the worst thing he could have been told! It was like having your wedding night filmed and then everyone watching it. He hated the thought that they were out there (I now feel a bit guilty for watching them) and we told him they were on DVD for sale on eBay. To be fair, no one said about him wearing just his sock and he didn’t say anything about it either – I got the impression that he was more upset because its showing all the attempts at each scene, good, bad, fluffed, wrong - and it was the bad bits being he wasn’t happy about, but I could be wrong.
It was a lively, fun and interesting session with a great cross section of questions – some old some new. The hour went pretty fast as ever – I did get loads of lovely photos and scarcely had to use the zoom lens, James was so close. In fact a couple of times he was almost too close when he was standing right next to me and I seemed like I was pointing the camera right up his nose…!
No breaks, as it was straight to the first photo session with James. The queue had started to form and it was always going to be awkward as there wasn’t any space. The dealer next to Froggy’s table didn’t like the line in front of his stall, so it formed straight across the corridor and into the dealer’s hall. Spaces were left for people to pass through and everyone was polite. I have to say, the whole weekend, although the queues weren’t massive, they were fairly big and they policed themselves perfectly. Nobody blocked way through, and if they did, they quickly rectified it. There were no stewards telling you to move up close every 5 seconds and moving you on the minute you stopped for a second or herding you like cattle, and it worked beautifully. Everybody seemed happy and relaxed about it – but then, it was a small convention and there was never any urgency about anything, which always makes for a good atmosphere.
I was having three photos each session. Being only one door in and out of the room, Steve who was doing duty as ticket collector and number taker for Froggy, had to juggle a bit to get people in and out. When it was my turn, I couldn’t get in for people coming out, so when I did, I walked straight in and there was James waiting for me!
He grinned and called “Hey Rosie!” as he saw me. I walked over towards him, a huge smile across my face - straight into a humungous hug! Full on, big squeeze with my chin on his shoulder and his cheek against mine -and he held on for just that little bit longer. Enough to make up for all the hugs I couldn’t have at Hallowhedon!
We exchanged a few words, nothing that I can remember and then went for the first shot. I had brought a picture with me for this one – one Christine had done at Monster Mania , where James is kind of nuzzling her face. I put the paper on the floor and then James referred to it to get the pose right. It felt good, I could feel James against my face and I tried not to grin like an idiot as I was looking towards the camera, which I succeeded in doing. I like it a lot – James being all smoochy and nuzzling against my cheek – though it would have looked a lot better if I had remembered to put my shrug on and covered my big fat arms!! Argh! I forgot in all the excitement!
Second picture I asked if we could do arm wrestling! So we took up positions and grasped right hands – I said, “If it’s right handed I might even have a chance of beating you!” which made him laugh a lot! He put his left hand under my elbow (I’m always aware of wherever he is touching me!) and then we did snarly faces. I really screwed my face up in what I thought was a good snarl. On viewing it, James looks mean and determined. I look constipated. Ah well!
For the third pose I wanted to do one I had been thinking of for a while, just because I thought it would be funny. I asked could we do a kind of over-acting romantic ballet type pose. I explained it – we would hold hands, I would turn away with my hand to my forehead being over-dramatic whilst he was kind of pleading with me! He looked a bit puzzled, but seemed to get it after I did a quick demo. I took hold of his right hand with my left and then turned away and held my hand against my forehead, in a kind of mock Victorian swoon. I couldn’t see what James was doing, but it got a laugh (in fact he was doing a lovely pleading face!) I immediately cracked up laughing and turned back to him and James was laughing too and said “That was silly. That was very silly!” and I agreed with him. Just a bit of fun! (Again, it would look a lot better if it wasn’t dominated by my big fat arms!)
James then automatically pulled me into another hug, which was lovely - no complaints here, you can’t have too many James hugs! – and I said something like “ I’ll see you in a bit” and then I had to turn away. Steve was making a face at me about the last pose as I walked back to the door to get my bag and I tried to justify it to him with something like “I had to think up something different!” though he didn’t look convinced!
As ever, I was all in a lovely James fog straight after – the kind where you are still walking on air thinking about what just happened and not taking in anything around you - so I can’t remember what I did then. Magie and Amy Sue were having their pictures after me, so I think I had to wait for them, but I was all glowing and smiley after that lovely encounter and all the James huggage!

Looking forward to those photos! ;D The knicker one too. The photo ops are all HEREthe other picture is still with Amy Sue - I suspect she is planning to use it for blackmail, but since I have no pride whatsoever - I know what I am! - its not going to get very far! (Joke - Amy Sue is far far too lovely to ever do anything like that - she is the sweetest person you could ever hope to meet and i love her to bits! )

We then went to join the autograph queue which had formed down the room and slightly around a bit to accommodate itself – again, the queue was excellent at policing itself. We were happy just to talk as we waited for James to come round to start doing the autographs. I was having to CD covers signed for Karen, as she was going to meet James for the first time at the Hub – so had asked me to get a few things signed for her, for which of course I was happy to oblige!
Magie had gone to the head of the line to see the bidding sheets for the coffee sessions and said there was only a couple of names on and she had gone for a big bid to start! Amy Sue and I waited until we got there and then put ours in – I went fairly high on one and not so high on the other - it looked like it was mostly the usual suspects bidding!
I remembered to video my time with James – Im getting better! – so here it is.
I had to explain to Steve that the CD covers weren’t for me and so he wrote Karen’s name down and then as I moved across and shook hands with James and said hi I continued
“They’re not for me darlin’ – for a lovely lady called Karen who was going to see you at the Hub – and then you weren’t there…”
“Yeah” James said in a regretful voice.
“So she sent them with me – she’s going to see you in February though”
James is looking at the CD covers (Civilised Man and Mad Brilliant) as he’s signing – “where d’you get these? These are rare!”
“I think she’s been getting them from eBay – like we all have!”
James added with a grin “I thought the only person who had any more of these was me!”
I was a bit distracted then as Magie was giving Steve his t-shirt which caused much laughter and so I wasn’t saying anything for a minute until James indicated Mad Brilliant and said “Sullivan loves this album”
“Oh I love it too. I’ve been playing it this week. It’s great!” (Yay for the intelligent response Rosie – could have discussed the album in detail – but no, goes for the fan girl response….!)
James handed me back the CD cover and I said “I have a present for you – I thought you’d appreciate this” and I gave him the Haynes Manual for the Apollo 11 spacecraft!! If you’re not English, Haynes Manual won’t mean anything to you, so I had to explain it to James
“In England, Haynes manuals are what you buy for your car – they do them for self maintenance on all types of cars – so they did one for the Apollo 11!!”
I was laughing and so was James and he started looking through it “It’s totally cool! Thank you! They going to explain how it all works… ah – there he is!” and James threw his arms up as the book opened at the page with Buzz’s picture!
I was still wittering on about the book and James was saying “There’s Mike – and there’s me! That’s totally cool – thank you Rosie!” and still hugging the book against him, reached out to shake my hand.
“That’s okay sweet”
“You give me the coolest presents!”
We weren’t being hurried at all so I said “I have to ask – are you still doing Caprica cos you haven’t cut your hair yet?”
James was leaning on the book with both hands on top as he replied “Well I didn’t cut it for Caprica”
“Exactly – but you haven’t cut it now – so are you still Caprica-ing?”
James paused for a moment and then said “I hope so. You know, they didn’t exactly commit and promise me I’d be back but they told me in many ways and hinted that I would be back”
I carried on “We all love your hair long – I know you don’t like it long, but we are all going “Oh My God! Those curls!” we all desperately want to run our fingers through them!”
James shrugged “One of the reasons Spike was so popular was because he had cool hair! And I haven’t had really cool hair in a role since then…”
Me - “Your hair is wonderful!” (uh-oh! Getting more fan-girly by the minute! James Fog rolling in fast!)
“..so I should do what I did in High School and stick with it really long!”
And then he leaned right forward and said “Here, you can touch it!”
“Can I??”
And he tipped his head down so there was this gorgeous expanse of curls right in front of me and I got to run one hand through them! OMG – they were soft and lovely and just that wonderful feeling of curls on your fingers!
“There you go!” James was grinning at me as he sat back and I exclaimed with totally fan girl squee – “Awww – YES!!!” and did a delighted sort of victory salute. James was laughing at as I exclaimed in delight!
I held my hand out and we shook again as I said “Thank you sweetie – see you a bit later. Love ya babe”
Amy Sue was behind me and she said “Can I just pat it?” so James leaned forward again so she could just touch his curls. I was still squeeing and exclaiming “I can tell everyone now! Yes!” And that I had started something (as Magie and Iesha coming after had to touch too!) and James was grinning “Sure!”
Finally got my act together and got out the way so the others could go in for their turns; but I was so delighted! I didn’t ask - James offered me a touch of his curls, and I wasn’t going to turn that down was I?? Even if it was only fleeting, that was so sweet of him. And I got to run my fingers through those curls!
Looking back on what he said – does that mean he is keeping his hair long in case of Caprica wanting him back or because he has decided to keep it long anyway? I’m not sure, but I do hope it’s the latter! Have to see how he looks come February – man, I love those curls!
By now, time was moving on and Iesha was complaining that she was getting hungry, so we went off to find lunch. Several people got distracted on the way by the dog that was there all weekend (think she was called Coda?) and we kept meeting people to talk too and so we were REALLY hungry by the time we finally made it to the lobby where they were serving food for the con goers. We took our hot dogs up to our room to eat - its nice to have a bit of a break from the noise and bustle of the Con - and stayed there for a while chatting. We knew James was doing more autographs before the second photo session at 4pm and I wanted to go round and get another autograph as I always tend to go round twice each time if I can. And after the photos we would be hanging around the autograph table until 5pm to make sure we got in the necessary bids to assure our places on the coffee sessions the next morning.
So back in the Con hall I joined the autograph line again – and the others all just decided to queue with me. James wasn’t there to start with, he was obviously having a break, but he was soon back and he had changed his shirt. Instead of the brown one, now he was wearing a dark sleeveless t shirt.
(I thought it was the usual black one that he wears and that was as far as my thinking went – when he is showing off his gorgeous smooth, toned arms you don’t tend to look too closely at the shirt! It wasn’t until four days afterwards when I was scanning in my photo ops that I noticed it was in fact a dark blue shirt with an Umbro logo – and it’s the one I gave him at Elf Fair in April! First time I’ve seen James wearing a shirt I’ve given him and I didn’t even notice! Huh - Another version of James Fog! So that afternoon he was wearing both belt and shirt that I gave him at the same time! Squee!)
I did remember to press record on the camera for this one – but sadly, what I didn’t realise was that the memory card was almost full, so it stopped almost as soon as I started and consequently I have nothing of my talk with James. Luckily, this was the one I spent the least time with him, so its not so bad. But I did make notes afterwards, so I know the jest of it.
I had the CD cover from Like A Waterfall for signing this time – not for me again, this time for Sara – who then sells them for charity on eBay. So I just got James to sign it and explained what Sara would do with it – it would probably be sold in aid of The Red Cross. His gift this time was another t shirt – which I had won in a raffle at a dinner I got invited to! There were lots of t shirts from a sponsor - a surf shop and bar near my home town, so I chose the one that would fit James when I won - A navy one with a logo on the front and a bigger one on the back. I told James about how I had come by it, and he unfolded it and checked it out and said “yeah - I can totally wear that!” So if he’s seen in a navy t shirt with a big ‘Hot Rocks, Bournemouth’ logo on the back – that’s the one I gave him!
I asked him how his back was now after seeing him at Hallowhedon. He said it was fine now – the chiropractor had sorted him out. I told him that I had hated seeing him lying on the table to sign autographs – it just wasn’t right and he replied that weekend had been hard work, but everyone was so nice and he didn’t want to let anyone down. I also told him that I just wanted to be as quick as possible with my autographs and get the hell out so that he wouldn’t have to lying there any longer than necessary, which he appreciated. We then talked about the group Q and A at the end which James said he wasn’t expecting and thought that it didn’t work as the questions weren’t good, all being very similar – I agreed that they were pretty inane and that we were all wishing for it to be over – just so he could get off and lie down! That was about it - shook hands and said 'see you in a bit'
We then had a little time before the next photo ops – I think this is when I went and made notes so I would remember the conversation when I realised the memory card had filled up and had a very cursory look round the dealers – the only thing I bought was one of the Lie To Me stills of James from Jeff’s stall!
As we were going to be doing a couple of group shots this time, we decided to go through individually first and then meet up again and make sure we were last in the queue. I remembered to put my shrug on this time, so no fat arms but I was having trouble remembering what 3 poses I wanted this time. I had got Magie to help out with one earlier to see if it would work and I had to keep repeating them in my head.
This time I got into the room and got to watch a couple of people in front of me have their pictures done first before it was my turn and I was walking across to James, grinning as ever and we hugged without even thinking about it, so lovely.
I asked for a cuddly one first “A head hug please” in fact, my favourite which James obliged with. Such a wonderful feeling being all cuddled in close to him and I feel all protected with his arm round my head - just the most wonderful safe place to be. Froggy took the picture - and James didn’t let go of me! Instead, he gave me an even bigger hug, squeezing me and holding me in even tighter against him and then let go. I love it when he does something like that – just a little gesture. Unfortunately it completely fried my brain, and I could not think of what I wanted to do for the next pose. Sometimes that happens and in a few seconds it comes back to me. Not this time - Total and utter blank! I apologised to James and said “Oh God, I can’t think – Im sorry – I’m totally brain dead!” and James said “I’m the same - I’ve left my brain in California!”
I really couldn’t think and I knew I couldn’t take any longer, so as James put his arm round my shoulders, I just put my left hand on his shoulder and leaned in and Froggy took the picture. Consequently it came out really nice – very casual – James has a hilarious sort of smug smirk on his face and Im laughing cos I'm such a dork!
The third shot, I remembered what I wanted to do, so I asked “Is it Ok if I reach up to kiss you on the nose?” and James said “Sure, but only pretending - don’t actually touch” and I hastened to assure him I wouldn’t. He held both my hands down by our sides and I leaned in as though I was going to kiss him and of course we both closed our eyes. Consequently, neither of us was quite aware of where the other was and we must have both rocked slightly just after Froggy took the picture, because my top lip just bumped against his nose! I immediately panicked slightly and my eyes shot open and I apologised because it was a total accident, and I didn’t want him to think I’d done it on purpose, but he seemed absolutely fine about it – think he realised we just bumped.
A quick hug and a thank you and I was on my way out again – straight to the back of the queue to go round again! I was soon joined by Amy Sue and Magie, as we were going to do one group picture we had had planned for a while and also with Carol who was in on the other group picture – and also all her family and Iesha who were just coming in to watch!
We let a few people go in front of us until we were the last to go in. We each had a prop for the second picture – when Steve saw the roll of duct tape in Magie’s hand he said “Oh please tell me you’re going to put that over his mouth!”
The picture with Magie, Amy Sue and me in was Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil. Magie arranged us – I was on James’s left as Speak, Amy Sue on his right as Hear and Magie in front as See (peeping through her fingers!) We told James he had to be evil so he put this wonderfully menacing look on his face – drawn down brows and tight pressed lips, which really makes his cheekbones stand out – pure Piccolo! Froggy took the picture a couple of times and as we broke away, James said “I was thinking really evil thoughts during that!”
And then it was the other group picture. We wanted a picture of James in a bit of bubble wrap, with us all helping to tape him in, after his back injury and him saying that Steve wanted to keep him in bubble wrap until February! I ended up explaining to James what it was about – he looked a bit worried but then agreed to it. Rob had procured the roll of bubble wrap from his work, and it was really funny at this point as James was still standing on the photo marks in the middle, I was off to his left side where I’d been for the previous photo and the others were all on the right and we all stood there for moment as none of us really wanted to be the one who wrapped James up, as it could easily get awkward very fast! So Steve kind of sighed and came in and did it. So funny – he wrapped James from the top and then round and round him so one arm was in and one out. So James is just standing there with this resigned look on his face and one arm stuck out whilst Steve is passing the roll of bubble wrap round his body. Steve was enjoying it a bit too much methinks - he had the most evil grin on his face!! The two of them were exchanging friendly insults, we were all doubling up with laughing so much and Froggy was taking photos the whole time!! Once Steve had James wrapped a bit, we all moved in with our props. I had a tape measure, Magie had the duct tape, Carol was just adjusting the bubble wrap and Amy Sue had the Handle With Care sign!
It worked beautifully – by accident we were nicely arranged in height so it makes a good shape. James has got a slightly resigned smile on his face and we are all grinning. Froggy took several shots and then we were done. We tried to get Steve to come in and have a picture with him putting the duct tape over James’s mouth, and though he threatened to do it briefly, he wouldn’t. We all said thank you and then watched as Steve unravelled James, who then did a nice little twirl round to get the last of it off him! Carol claimed the bubble wrap back again and I tucked the tape measure in my pocket and then held out my arms to James - he turned to me, pulled me in close and we hugged and I thanked him for being such a good sport and doing the photo, it was absolutely brilliant! I stepped back and I think Magie and Carol went forward to say thank you for being such a good sport and got a hugs. I then moved across from the far side of the room towards the door, walking behind James – and just at that moment he stepped back, so crashed into me. We both instinctively reached out and grabbed the others hands to steady each other and we were both apologising – I think he asked if I was Ok, whereas I was far more worried about hurting him – I was asking if his back was OK, he had to mind that back! (We were both fine!) and so I got pulled into another quick cuddle too!
More profuse thanks to James, Steve and Froggy and we made our way out. Carol was hugging the roll of bubble wrap and said now what was she going to do with it? I said "share it out, that’s special!" – so she tore a few pieces of for each of us so we could have a bit that had been wrapped round James, and kept the rest!

here's the next installment - even more Saturday!
It was about half past four by now, so we went over to James’s signing table to see how the bidding was coming along for the coffee sessions as the sheets would close at 5pm. Steve came to sit behind the table and there was about 15 or so of us milling around, checking the lists and working out who was in and who wasn’t. I was pretty safe on the first one but it was a bit touch and go on the second which was why I was keeping a close eye. Every now and then another bid would go on and then there would be people checking to see how that changed things. In the end they had to demand that the lists stayed on the table and didn’t keep disappearing off into the crowd!
Brent Spiner at the next table wanted to know what we were all doing and on being told decided we were all nuts. He had a hilarious conversation with Steve saying that he loved him as Spike and he was wearing very well…!
Steve disappeared for a bit and we all still hung around checking the lists and the time – though as Helen said it was all being done according to the time Steve’s Blackberry – Himber time. So when he came back I was asking “What’s the Himber time?”
There wasn’t any last minute bids (though Iesha tried to lower hers so we would all pay less, but Steve wouldn’t let her!) so I got into both sessions. Since most of us were there it was fairly easy for Steve to read out who was in (he couldn’t read my writing as I did rather scrawl my name in a hurry) and we could pay then if we wanted.
So that was that sorted. We decided to go out to eat as the bar was rather expensive and we had time to do so before the concert. We had acquired a newbie in the shape of Kim (who wasn’t really a newbie – she had seen James once before - in 2005!) so took her with us and she was very handy as she was local and knew where the nearest restaurants were. We all piled into Iesha’s car and having stopped for an ATM machine spotted a Friendlys across the way, so went there for dinner. I always seem to eat there in the US, so many times in fact that I seem to know their menu!
I wasn’t exactly tired but was feeling a bit flat at this point. Living alone and doing everything for myself all the time, Im very independent and I can get a bit agitated when Im not relying on myself to get somewhere – especially if it’s James! – so think I was worrying about getting back in time. Of course we did, no problem, cos it was the same for the others too - James! - and he’s the most important thing!
The queue was down the corridor again but we were able to be at the front as we were platinum ticket holders and would be allowed in first. It was a bit of a wait even then, as there were several people to sound check, not just James and everyone got a bit restless. But eventually we were let in. Squirl was in front of me in the line and I was shooing her along the corridor to the door, trying to make her go faster and Steve was teasing her from the far end as well. We nearly took an arm each and carried her in!
They had cleared the autograph end of the ballroom and put the partition across and put in a stage for the performances. The stage was to the right of the room with quite a large expanse of space between it and the front row of chairs - and James’s mic was far more towards the right side of the room than the centre. I sat on the front row, one from the end on the right – I don’t like being centre as the mic gets in the way of James’s face for photos so I went as far over as I could. The rest of the stage was covered in instruments and stuff ready for the later performances and there was a few loose cables left lying across the stage very near where James would be – I was a tad worried and wanted to borrow Magie’s duct tape and stick them down! (I would never leave loose cables like that when Im teaching or DJ-ing – cos I know who would be the one to fall over them…!)
The lighting didn’t seem too bad for photography – and then they dimmed it more. Oh dear – it was awful. Being a ballroom there was no spotlights or anything to help out so we were all peering through the gloom as Steve came on to introduce James. He appeared out of a door off to the side of the stage, carrying Chow and leapt onto the stage and didn’t fall over any of the cables!
He had changed his shirt again and was now in the v-neck black t shirt. And his hair seemed to have dried out a bit (or he’d been running his hands through it!) as it was looking far more curly – but just as gorgeous as ever!
It was a great concert. Quite a lot of newbies in the audience which was good and they all seemed to react positively. James started with For what I Need followed by All That She Wanted – at one point during this he managed to step on or catch the guitar lead and pull the plug out – though he caught it and put it back in and continued with the song! This caused a few giggles and lightened the atmosphere. James was talking a bit more between songs than of late, explaining briefly what they were about, which was good as there were a lot of newbies. The next song was Truth Is – and what does he do halfway through it? Yup, steps on the lead again and unplugs it. This time he just jumped off the stage with the guitar and carried on singing as he walked into the audience, down the centre aisle – no amp or mic and still perfectly audible. Got to love that man!
I was trying to take pictures meanwhile, but the lighting was so bad, even my camera which is really good in low light was struggling, so I had to resort to flash, which I hate. It meant I could only take one picture about every 30 seconds or so as I had to wait for the camera to recharge each time, so I had to try and make sure each one really counted, waiting for a good shot – but I still kept getting duff ones which was really frustrating. Im so not used to using the flash that I kept putting my hand in front of it as well, which really doesn’t help! Consequently, I wasn’t concentrating as much as I should have been on James’s singing, which was a shame – especially as he sang Fall of Night next which I love (though for me, he has yet to top his performance of it that he did at Fangoria – that was really heartfelt)
Five songs later he said that he would sing one he hadn’t sung a lot – he said it ws called first Love, which I didn’t recognise, so I did concentrate. It was only when he sung the words “Im only three” I realised it was Three under a different name, which was a hell of a surprise. On realising that, I really listened and concentrated and willed James on. He sang it fine and even started joking straight afterwards, as we were all applauding furiously - just couldn’t whoop after that – about how to bring the mood right down.
He went on to sing Goodbye and London City and then was explaining about Finer Than Gold – consequently there were a few giggles and open laughter at some of the lines – a theme which was kept up when James went onto sing Looking At You and was saying he got a lot of innuendos in it! Lots of whooping and yelling during that one!
Around this point James said he wasn’t going to do an encore – that when he went off he would be gone and not coming back on, which made us all go “Awwww” in disappointment. He did 3 more songs – Angel, Dangerous (that he said was about Michelle T) and finished on Smile. And then he got a standing ovation. Magie got the set list (and a kiss blown to her) and then with a wave, he was gone.
It’s always difficult to wind down after a James concert and this was no exception. We couldn’t hang around in the hall as Peter Tork was on next and I wasn’t that bothered to see him – it would take away form the James-ness! So we repaired to the bar – which was VERY full and even though we waited for a table, the few staff didn’t seem that keen to do anything about it, so in the end, we got one ourselves over by the pool table. Charity, Joyce, Squirl and others were at the next table to us so it was quite a James gathering. The service didn’t get any better – after we had been waiting about 15 minutes, Amy Sure decided to make a list and go get the drinks from the bar – just as she got there, the server said she was just coming over…Even then it was still another 10 minutes or so before we actually got our drinks!
We were having a good time, just chatting and giggling when word went round that James was in the bar. As I was seated with my back to the wall, although we were the furthest table from the bar, I could see fairly well and could make out James curls. He was there, chatting with people and just hanging out which was great – he didn’t seem to be in a hurry to leave at all. –Yes he had people round him, but he wasn’t getting mobbed at all – in fact he did have one of the Con people with him who seemed to be a sort of minder, but he was just there on the edges, keeping an eye out just in case (I was using my camera zoom lens to see what was happening and report to the others!) In a situation like that it was tempting to go up there - but I didn’t. If I had been in the bar, then yeah, of course I would have talked to him, but I wasn’t going to go over specially. James was off-duty, and therefore to me, off-limits. The guy needs some down time like anyone and it was great he felt relaxed enough to just hang out in the bar with everyone else. I did keep checking through the camera every now and then and he was still there, moving around and talking to different people.
(A bit later he did actually come over to our table! One of the dealers, Mike, that we had talked to briefly the day before and who was now a bit drunk had come over to our table and was joking and teasing us - and being a tad OTT to tell the truth – and then said he would go and get James to come to our table. We were saying, no, don’t do that – but off he went and the next thing we knew, he was coming back across the room with James in tow! Several of us had our heads in our hands, going “oh no. Please no – Oh God – he really has done it!” We were worried that James would think we had asked him to get him over, so the first thing we were doing was apologising. James was fine with it, especially when he realised he knew most of us round the tables. In fact, it was great – he stayed and talked to us and the other table for about 5 minutes. Mike the dealer was doing a lot of talking and interrupting us all the time, so no one really got to say much, but then, it was all just silly stuff, nothing serious - and just plain fun – especially when James turned round to talk to the other table and presented us with a very nice view of his ass!! He stayed for a little while and then excused himself, and we thanked him for coming over. Some of the people that were seated on the outsides of the tables got hugged and kissed by James, but I was on the inside in the middle, so had no chance (poo!) As he was leaving us, I could hear him saying something about no, he didn’t want another drink as he had to be with it the next day as he was going to be meeting a lot of people and he had to mean it when he shook hands and said good to see you.)
I think we did finally leave the bar at about quarter to twelve – and James was still there, chatting away. Having got up to our room, I realised I should have checked in for my flight the following day (to make sure I got a decent seat) so had to go back down and use the hotel computer. Having sorted that all out, I couldn’t resist having another quick shufti in the bar (it was now 12.15am) – and yup – James was still there – holding court with a group of guys, obviously having a great time. I just grinned to myself and went back up to report to the others!

Ah-ha! Got some more written - the first coffee session on Sunday morning! Sunday 22nd NovemberThis morning breakfast and the wake up call arrived within about 30 seconds of each other! We were mostly awake and talking as there had to be lots of getting ready for the coffee sessions with James at 10am. I wasn’t feeling very good this morning – I don’t mean as in , just in my head. Too complicated and involved to talk about here and you don’t want to hear about my problems – suffice to say both Magie and Amy Sue did their best to try and snap me out of it and they did help a lot – and having lots of time with James to look forward too certainly helped get me moving and feeling a bit better. I was ready pretty quick as usual and was counting down the time for Magie again. In the end though, we left her to it, she said she would be down in a minute. I had no intention for being late for this one so Amy Sue and I went down and found the little group of people waiting for the first session outside Froggy’s room with Steve. I think I can remember everyone who was in this one – me, Magie, Amy Sue, Iesha, Squirl, Barbara, Joyce, Carol & Rob, Steve - the cute guy we had been talking to the day before - and Mrs Dweeblethorpe. (I think only me, Magie and Iesha were on both sessions) Anyway – Steve let us into the room and it was a round table we were going to be sitting around. I kind of hovered for a bit, waiting to see where others would sit so I could work out where James was going to be and make sure I was opposite him . There was coffee and tea laid on (though Squirl had brought her own teabag!) and luckily it was make your own. Helen and I had a British bonding moment as we agreed that Americans cannot make a decent cup of tea! (c’mon guys – the water has to be boiling – and cream in tea?? Yuk!) Steve went off – to get James we assumed – and we all settled round the table (the empty chair was opposite me – yay – got it right!) with our drinks and there was a few comments and no one really knew what to say. After another pause I said “ hey guys, I really like you, but I didn’t pay $60 to have coffee with you lot!” which at least made everyone laugh. And then Steve came back in followed by James. He was in jeans and the black v neck t shirt – and his hair was wet/gelled again – a total riot of curls that were already starting to escape a bit and do their own thing - just begging to have fingers run through them! Utterly gorgeous! He was grinning and we all called good morning as he took the spare chair and looked round to see who was there. He already had a big coffee and admitted it seemed early to him! After just a few pleasantries, the first question was about working on Angel. James told the story about how it was bad on set because of the director and retold the story of the little kid and how badly he thought he was treated and that he would probably never come back from it. There was some talk of Moonshot and how it was one of the hardest shoots he had ever done, especially as he was at the time, and yet one of the best. Someone also asked how his back was now and James said it was absolutely fine now thanks to his chiropractor. It was the only way with backs – he felt that the science of treating backs this way had been ignored by Western medicine and that it was still in the 19th century. He told about how he had got so bad after doing a lot of stunts on set, crawling across to the chiropractor at the end of Angel and being put right to the point where he could do stunts again now. I put in how I found it really difficult to let the chiropractor “pop” my neck as they tell you to relax as they are flexing your neck gently and you know they are going to do the sudden twist which always makes it feel like they are going to rip your head off so you tense up and then they cant do it properly. Especially when they have to do the second side! James agreed with me, laughing! Steve (the guest, not Himber!) said about meeting Camden Toy and that he only had good things to say about James and working with him. James said that he was great too and that both being stage actors they could beat the crap out of each other and make it look really good without actually hurting each other. Apparently they had the crew gasping in horror a few times at what they were doing in a fight scene and then they were turning round and saying “fooled you!!” at the end of it. That was a good feeling that they could convince the whole set that it was real. There was more Angel talk – about the episode Damage, though there was some confusion about the young girl – James thought Barbara was talking about the one playing the psycho slayer, not the one playing the young version of her. He did say that it was the girl’s first acting job, she was a model or something and she didn’t seem to realise she had to work at it beforehand! She never knew her lines, even though they all thought having embarrassed herself on set she would get better – she didn’t. She just thought “I’m beautiful” and that was all she had to do – she really didn’t get it at all. James said he was always uncomfortable with kids, or anyone under the age of 18 on set, just didn’t sit right with him – there were the Moms in the background– it was always the moms pushing the kids. This led onto him saying that he thoroughly disliked the actress who played his mother in Buffy and Angel, she was always coming onto him and grabbing his ass (which caused an all-round sucking in of breath from everyone at the table!) And he really didn’t like how she treated her kids, they seemed very cowed by her and he worried for their welfare. James wondered why people wanted to “be like us. All actors are total fuck-ups! The Hollywood freaks” He thought actors were boring – they are the ones magazines want to interview and yet they have nothing to say, there is nothing in their heads. Someone chipped in – “except you!” and James laughed and agreed “Anyone but me!” There was a bit of talk about method acting and how unsuitable it is for series - James nearly went crazy himself doing crazy-in-the-basement Spike. All the time, I was just looking at James. If he’s in the room I can’t take my eyes off him! Yes, I was taking pictures too, but it’s easy that close up, using the screen on the camera. And its fun trying to catch different expressions on his face – he was constantly looking around the table at everyone. Then he was sitting with one knee up on the chair, hugging it to him (sadly no hole in the jeans this time!) or leaning his chin on his hand as he was listening. All making for great photos – but then, it’s hard to take a bad one of James! And OMG - those curls! Im sorry I keep going on about them , but they are just glorious! Lovely big ringlet-like curls, not a bit frizzy! Totally, utterly gorgeous and so unbelievably….curly!. (Hell, I might start writing bad poetry about them soon!! I’m sure I can get the word ‘effulgent’ in there somewhere!!) Squirl then asked James what he was doing for Thanksgiving (which was the following Thursday) and he said he would be at home but as neither of the kids liked turkey all he had to do was cook a chicken. I asked if he was doing the cooking and he said yeah, he was a pretty good cook. Magie then chipped in that he would have to cook us dinner some time and there was a lot of laughter round the table about that, especially when James joked that Steve was going making a note about this one! And then Steve (who was sitting behind me) did say he did have quite a large dining room..! James carried on saying that for about 10 years he couldn’t afford to go to a restaurant so he had to cook. He was a good wife – he did it all – cooking, cleaning – everything! This led onto a general discussion about Thanksgiving and how it was all about eating – which James said, made it difficult for him – and about black Friday. We had to explain to James why it was called that – even me, the Brit, and Magie, the Canadian knew - and he was pleased to have it explained to him. This led onto the UK and Canadian holiday Boxing Day which is the day after Christmas and Magie had to explain that. James said most holidays passed him by as it didn’t affect filming - he would hear about them “ What are the civilians doing today?” but they only had time off at Thanksgiving and Christmas and probably new year. Magie asked how did his girlfriend feel about him not being with her for Valentines day as for the second year running he was going to be with us, which in fact never got answered by James as there was a general talk of how others husbands were reacting to them going to see James on Valentines. James said he wasn’t sure he could let his girlfriend go and see some star she was hot for (Iesha - “What do you mean ‘ Let’” ?? - which caused a huge roar of laughter!) and he kind of said he didn’t actually mean it like that – just that if they wanted to be with him, then to be with him – “Your husbands are much bigger men than me!” He admitted he was very possessive, but also wanted honesty. He said that he thought Patricia had told him what he wanted to hear about Robert Pattinson, after she took his niece to see New Moon in the week; that he wasn’t as good; but he didn’t think she really thought that. But as Magie pointed out, she may well have not liked it! This led onto James asking about “Freebie” lists – the list you agree with your partner about if you met this person, you could have sex with them. James admitted that there is no way he could do that – he was far too possessive. Of course it is different for him as he said, being in Hollywood, he likely would meet and work with these people! And then he asked – was it real? Did people really have lists and would they really do it? Quite a few said yes (I wont say what Magie said about it – it’s her story to tell!) and James was very surprised – no, he could never do that. “I’m a jealous man – I really am!” In the gap in the conversation that followed that, I put in “James, I have to say – Patricia is gorgeous! She really is!” and said that I had met and talked to her at Hallowhedon and that I told her so – the first thing I said to her was that she was gorgeous. James agreed that she was, but she doesn’t believe it.. If he says she looks beautiful, she says she can’t go and look in a mirror as she would then think he was wrong. She has a sister who spent her whole childhood putting her down and constantly telling her she was ugly and stupid, so now she can’t believe she’s not. “Sounds like my sister” said Barbara, and said that hers had just un-friended her from Facebook, because they had had a row about President Obama bowing to the Japanese president. Sister said it was disgraceful and no other president had, and she had disagreed and sent pictures of others doing it in the past. That was it – James was off! They were exchanging incidences of when it had happened and this led onto US politics generally and the reform bill. James admitted he had a lot of Obama stuff and said “I’m such a fan boy!” James said he was proud of his country – until Bush. Then everyone became cynical about the US - even Sullivan. And now James was able to say to Sullivan, “See, it is a great country!” It was about now that Steve called time on us, so people started to get up and say thank you to James. He called to Steve “ What am I doing now boss?” and was told he was staying for another session! (It really does seem that James goes where and does whatever Steve tells him! But that’s a good manager!) James got up as people were leaving and thanking him for the session and of course was hugging people. Iesha got a hug as she was telling James about the guy she met in the elevator the day before who looked at her and said “You here for James Marsters then?” and she asked him how he knew, and he said that every woman he had met so far was there for James!! Since Iesha was staying for the next session as I was and still got a hug, I wanted one too – and James was happy to oblige. Can’t remember what we said, little inconsequential things I expect. For me, it was just wonderful to be hugged by James – every one is very special.

No you're not - I had trouble writing it and I obviously didnt get it right. So I'll try again...
It wasnt so much the film itself, it was Patricia saying ( I think) that she didnt think it was good and Robert P didnt do it for her really - but as all the reviews etc were saying he was great in it, James seemed to think that she was telling him what he wanted to hear rather than what she actually thought (that RP was hot I suppose) and he didnt like that...
Does that make any more sense???
