Quite right too - it's an entertaining show. And there's always Lex when Brainiac isn't around

From Ask AusielloQuestion: Will we be seeing Zod or Jor-El this season on Smallville? — Eddie
Ausiello: Yes, they'll both pop up in the season finale — but they won't be who we think they are. And here's another finale superscoop: Lois and another major character will end up on an airplane that's locked in autopilot — and there's only one person who knows where it's headed. (Hint: He looks like a platinum-topped vampire we once knew and loved.)
Question: Any Smallville scoop would be appreciated. — Bill
Ausiello: This season's cliff-hanger will revolve around a huge choice Clark must make. And it doesn't involve anyone whose name starts with L.
Zod! And Erica and James action ;D

Ask AusielloQuestion: Will there be anything happening between Chloe and Clark on Smallville before season's end? — Brianna
Ausiello: Not likely. With Milton and Lex teaming up to basically destroy mankind, Clark won’t have time for tonsil hockey.
Question: Any chance Al Gough will drop his reluctance to let Clark fly on Smallville? — Sean P.
Ausiello: Let me say this: If the finale ends the way they have it planned now, next season could see a whole world of change for our wonder boy.
Question: Has Smallville been renewed yet? — Candyce
Ausiello: Not officially, but it's a shoo-in. And this just in: Lex's late mother will make an appearance in next month's finale.

Ask AusielloQuestion: Does the choice Clark has to make in Smallville's season finale revolve around Chloe and her feelings for him? — Mary
Ausiello: No. His choice is bigger than any one person.

Steve DeKnight has given some background info and sorta spoilery stuff for Mercy, at Kryptonsite's forumHola, good people! I see there's some doubt as to whether this really is me, or just some cheap Steve DeKnight knockoff (not that the original is that expensive to start with). Hmm… how to prove it’s really me… Well. I have this mole just above my – no, wait, that might get me kicked off the boards. Plus I’m planning to have it removed anyway.
Ah, I know. How about some kinda-sorta spoilers for Mercy? That should also satisfy the requirements of this particular thread, yes? I don’t know how you guys do this, so forgive me if I break any rules. Here goes:
!!!KINDA-SORTA SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Okay, so this is based on the last rough cut I saw. In the original script, the show opened on Clark coming home to find Lionel in the kitchen whipping up some lunch for Martha. Clark not pleased. Much “I know your secret” innuendo. Unfortunately, this scene was cut out of the show. I thought it was vital to the whole set up, but what do I know? I just wrote the script. But in a later scene with Clark and Chloe, Clark makes a reference to this missing scene, telling Chloe that Lionel was in his house, acting like he belonged there.
Some of you have accused us of ripping off Saw. I prefer to think of it as an homage – ah, forget it. You know the score. Actually we were planning on homage-ing Cube too, but couldn’t build a new set because of Fragile. The young actress could only work a limited amount of hours, so they had to bounce around the other sets more than usual to accommodate her. Because of this, we never had enough time one stage to build our Mercy set before we started shooting. Instead we reused the safe room set from Lockdown, then went to an actual location for the other stuff.
The third “game” originally involved Lionel solving mathematical equations in his head to unlock an exploding metal collar, ala Running Man. Felt to cerebral, so we changed it to the tank.
Originally there was no elevator in the final game. This was a verrrrry expensive addition. Hope it works.
!!!END KINDA-SORTA SPOILERS!!!
So watch the episode and see if any of that rings true. If not, I guess I’ll have to show you that mole. And please, come be my good friend on myspace. I’ll be dropping in there frequently to see what you fine people are complaining about -- uh, I mean commenting about.

I’d love to hang out tonight, but I have to be up early (for me) to do DVD commentary with James Marsters and James Marshall for Splinter. Check it out when it’s released this summer.
Love you all. Really. Love.
- DeKnight
And yay to James doing a commentary (hopefully more than one, in the end. I'm greedy!)

From an interview with Al Gough in Guide, some themes for S6: Guide: Anything else you can tease about Season 6? Gough: The theme is the rise of Lex Luthor. You're definitely going to see the more ruthless Lex Luthor you know from the comic books really start to emerge. The season will also be about the corruption of good — not only Lana, but Martha. Will she get involved with Lionel? And when Clark does come back from the Phantom Zone, what will it have done to him? We never really explored what happens to somebody inside the Phantom Zone, which is really the ultimate incarceration.
