Okay...little bit from the con (from BAPS):
"Then James comes on:
Looking good. He's in a black T and jeans, said he was reading Dylan Thomas book a fan had given him, and thanked fans for the presents he got. He had an offa stone necklace someone had given him and he had obviously got a note from a fan about something personal and asked her to meet him later coz he reckoned he had worked some stuff through with his life and thought he could share some thoughts which could help her.....
He got rather embarrassed when he misheard a question, I can't remember the actual question but I think he thought the girl was asking him if he wanted it :-) He apologogised and said that he had met a rock chick girl at Newport in Wales and had had sex on the brain ever since!
He said he can now listen to Dylan and the Smiths, which he couldn't do earlier because a girl he had been in love with had been a fan of them but now he feels able to.
But best of all was that he came on with Steve Tartalia his stunt double and they worked through a fight scene on stage. Ending up with James throwing Steve in a fall off the stage and Steve coming back and punching James across into a chair! It was fast good and very realistic. That is something I have not seen done on stage before and was very impressive.
A fan thanked him for being the way he is with his fans and Steve chipped in and said James is always like that.
Steve told us that once when James was late they asked him to do a scene with SMG up against a wall and he was terrified, coz he had been eating garlic and smoking (here James waved his hands indicating Sarah doesn't like that stuff) So Steve went and loaded up with peppermints first, and was totally relieved when James turned up!
Now for the breaking news...I think James and Steve let something slip which they shouldn't have.
1) James said Spike will still have a soul.
And Steve mentioned a matrix like stunt that they had been looking at doing.
Now to my mind matrix like stunts and a soul tend to mean a solid form and not a ghost!
Anyway I'll hang around for around another 10 minutes to answer any questions but after that I'm heading off home coz I got other fun things to do in my life than hang around for a disco that will start late and only go on until 12am! Bloody pumpkins! Oh someone got James to say bloody hell just like Spike :-)"

Some more from "Deb W" from mts:
James Marsters did two Q and A’s (the response was amazing) the first was with James Leary with the two of theme bonding over being theatre geeks and bantering with the crowd whilst answering questions. Most of the questions were fine. however I shall draw a veil over one person who, in ,my opinion insulted James, brought the mood down and presumed to speak for a large section of the online community… the deafening silence that greeted her exit from the mike was most eloquent, again someone else will have fully reported I’m sure, Me I was just pissed off., You need to put this in context by noting that he had just finished very honestly discussing how shattered he was by season 6 , he was artistically very proud of it but it had split his head open.. season 7 had also been hard but he had worked stuff through and used that in Spikes story… so, to follow that with less of a question than a rant about how lots of people thought that season 7 was meaningless seems more than a tad insensitive I also object to people making other than “I “statements” and I happened to love season 7 so sue me! James was gracious but, in my opinion, seemed a little hurt, he gave so much to the fans at this con it seems harsh that a “fan” should bring him down If they had addressed their rant to the writers that may have made sense!( though I would still have disagreed and preferred that a questioner spoke only for themselves).luckily sensible questions followed and things got back on track. .It sometimes seems as if James forgets that he is on a stage in front of 1200 people, In fact you’ll have to rely on transcripts for some of the stuff because writing it down kind of feels like revealing a personal conversation ( just me, James and 1200 other people having a cosy chat) He was open and charming and very gracious in giving time and praise to James Leary… so get writing to the WB and demanding Clem on Angel because otherwise James Leary’s Children will starve!
James Marsters second Q and A was again to a packed and happy hall. he spoke of how much he loved the gifts and letters from the fans, and said that he had had a brilliant evening opening them and reading them.. He clearly showed that he read and greatly appreciated all the letters. It’s clear that he loves what he does and enjoys the chance to interact with people ( though it must be terribly hard work at things like this.. 600 photos 12000 autographs 2 Q and A’s I’m knackered just thinking about it!). When a questioner responded by telling him how amazing his interaction with the fans was and how much *we* appreciated him the applause was overwhelming. He was mightily annoyed about the technical problems at The Scala gig but seemed happy that people had enjoyed it anyway and he gave as his opinion that Buffy Loved Angel and that Spike needed to move on.. but he would be an uneasy fit in LA … which would be fun… he enjoys the torture and physical challenge aspects of the acting though by the end of the series he’s always a bit stiff and sore, the mental challenge is more difficult and The Method is a very unhealthy way to work… he then brought his stunt double on and the two fielded questions before getting involved in a knock down brawl… amazing stuff!.. . What else happened. Well, someone asked for a Spike “Bloody Hell” and got it and suddenly it was Spike on stage, not James! And he did an amazing speech from The Tempest. James as Caliban, unusual casting choice but he nailed it.. he declined to sing because he has no guitar and wouldn’t do something he wasn’t proud of (ASH had earlier sung acapella which was great but James is on tour, has a responsibility to his band and was going to bed at 8PM each night to try and rest his voice and be ok for the next gigs) If he could have got hold of a guitar however I think he may have changed his mind.
Again I’m sure someone will post a transcript.. Suffice it to say he was lovely! And he handled even potentially tricky situations perfectly, If a question strayed too far into personal space he was able to say “I’m sorry I need to keep that private” without causing offence. He also responded well to being told *not* to spoil us for Angel. it’s pretty clear that he knows how he comes back and he seems to think it’s gonna be good , so that's fine by me
it was also nice to see how much affection the rest of the cast have for him.. There was good natured banter all weekend about his status ( Danny Strong asking the audience members who were departing to have their photo shoots to “ say hi to James/ tell him I was on the show!, Adam doing his best James Marsters impression) but it was very clear that they thought very highly of his skills and professionalism .
Ok, like I said I’m not gonna rabbit on… so a few last thoughts. Buffy fans seem to be a really nice bunch. James commented on our high social skills which made it easy for him to share his time between us all and not feel hassled in any way and on our courtesy, politeness and patience.. So yay for us!!
. Go buy a Common rotation CD they rock!.. James needs to put out “Katie” as a single, it’s great When at Cons don’t insult the guest stars or I get tetchy, and you wouldn’t like me when I’m tetchy! If you want something organising ask Julie Caitlin Brown. But ask her nicely ( I’m in awe of her and also a little scared!) Tickets still available for Ghost Of The Robot At Scala on 25.6.03.. get there if you can James likes presents!!
And she continues:
just had to edit my original report on account of the fact that I managed to cut and paste a bit in twice, so sorry if I was confusing ! anyway heres a bit more
More details.... James was so sweet and so *not* Spike . He has a trick of making you feel that his attention is focused on you and you alone... neat trick with 1200 people to relate to.. I asked him not to keep beating himself up about the sound problems at the Scala gig ( he mentioned it several times) and he told me that he was just pissed because it messed up the encores .
Steve the stunt man has hair the exact same growing out-y stage as James' they rehearsed their fight in a hotel room , knocking down chairs and tables with people calling the room to ask if everything was Ok..
He hasn't had a day off in months so I'm really glad that JulieCB got him organised to get the signings done and get home to his hotel to rest... it was more important for everyone to have a few words with James than several signatures ( although I gather some people didn't feel this way)
He's really excited about his new film role Venetian heat and had had a great read through with the director on Friday. it sounds AMAZING.. ends in a bit of a bloodbath and is based on a West end play.
He'd love to do theatre but family commitments are going to keep him in LA for the next 4-5 years. Some of the band were there at the con and partying with the guests
oh, did I mention that Common Rotation were great?
Robin Sachs told yet another slightly dubious story about appearing in a production of Hamlet in Amsterdam.. it was an alternative type production and his costume consisted of a leather Jock strap. his worst job was as the back end of a pantomime horse
GOTR are going into the studio to record the second album as soon as they get back from tour. they want to tour again but they are being asked to do a tour of Japan next
When James got offered a series regular role on Buffy his agent told him to play it cool so he could get better money but he was so over excited that he wasn't able to do anything but shriek and babble
He thinks his accent got better.. he took the mick out of his pronunciation of " You were there!" in School Hard and said Joss was saying. " James, could he *please NOT be from the South"
his worst ever job was as a telesales person for a tobacco company, he had to do it because he needed the money for Christmas
he couldn't be without his guitar, music is very important to him and if he gets angry he can play and often will get a really good song out of it
Its really hard to get out of character after a long day on set but music and a hot bath help
he's enjoying music by Coldplay, Bob Dylan and Rdaiohead and he listened to old Morrisey recoprds on the trip to Liverpool.. which was cool because they had reminded him of a girl friend and he needed to build new memories of them so he could enjoy them again...
opening presents, reading letters and watching " Shakespere In Love" on Saturday night was the nicest evening he'd had in ages

Again from the mts board, here is a brief report from "SilverJaime":
James and Steve his stunt double did a fake fight on stage on the Sunday - it was COOL!! They rocked! I was talking to Steve afterwards and he said it was nothing - though they wrecked a few things in the hotel room practicing it!
James was more laid back - and even took the time ( which wasn't allowed ) to have a quick couple of words with me at the photo session - he said in answer to my query about him being tired, that in actual fact he was "absolutely shattered" after the last few weeks. His autograph session seemed to be taken over by Julie Caitlin Brown, but although she reduced the no. of signatures we could have to one, it meant everyone got through, so that was ok. And I suppose he needs someone like that in his corner. He was very complimentary about his manager Steve who's been looking after him in Europe.

WEHEY, hi guys, well i really dont know where to start this weekend was brill, ok some of the more experienced peeps mite say some things could have been better but from my p.o.v the whole thing was just amazing....so as to not ranble on for bout three pages about nowt much im gunna spilt it up into some ickle portions for you......
The Spikettes
Well the moment i arrived at the hotel i spotted a spikette sitting outside munching on a sausage or cheese roll thing, yes Az i do mean you, wonder how i recognised you ey, Shelly was there too and they both said hi to me, first time i'd met a spiktte...very exciting... so then the bit id been looking forward to, got inside and after a little confusion finally i met up with Wil, gawd girl you are tiny, but crazy, after that i seemed to just be introduced to sikette after spikette all of which were smiling and made me feel so welcome everyone was so nice.... OMG and M and her son just say my name in the coolest way LOL over the weekend Wil and Twistie took me and bev under their wings and looked after us, we had a wicked time and spikettes are mad.....WE RULE GUYS!
autographs, guest talks and star spotting
can u imagine how hyper i was as we went into a room full of Danny stong, Adam busch, Robia, Robin, James C leary, George hertsberg and of course TONY HEAD....well yes i was hyper and it didnt help that travis kept reminding me of the fact i could fall over onto them of someting THANX TRAVIS LOL OMG tho they r all so fine in really life and really really smiley, managed to get all autograpgs except for Tom Lenk due to some pretty crappy organisation. Then there were the guest talks and omg were they good, they paired em up perfectly by having the trio up together, tony and robia as giles and jenny , etc etc but i think anyone will agree the funnyest was Tony And Robin doing the whole giles and ethan pairing, Tony didnt stop giggleing once, and robin is well just rude "ok tony, so out of the whole body which part really stands out for you" he was surposed to be talking about acting but we can all see what he was really refering to LOL OMG Robin sachs, Wil and twistie will know what i mean when i mention the crisp thing, he kept spitting a crisp in and out of his mouth infront of us then farted really loud and blamed the poor girl nxt to him. Well so then there was Adam Buschs band, common rotation, who played at the sat night concert. i only have two things to say on that subject..if you dont have the CD, why not? and THOSE GUYS ROCK!!! and now we get to star spotting, litterally and hour after arriving we bumped into Tony head on a corridor, Danny strong on a corridor bout 5 times, baily chase in the lobby and robin sachs on the corridor...all of whome said hi and smiled, how nice!
I pulled Danny strong tee hee
OK this guy is my new best buddy let me tell a, not only is is the cutest little thing ever but he is just sooooooooo sweet, OK i went in for my autograph and he looked up and this is how the conversation went <oh wow you are so tall> <*sigh* yer i know> <but hey you are extremly attractive for a tall person, i mean i dont really find them that nice but you are really attractive> (ok at this point i am ready to faint <oh thankyou *insane grin*> <hey its ok sweetie> so then everytime i saw him on the corridors which was like bout 5 times all weekend he smiled and waved... and OMG you can imagine our photo sesh, he was just looking up bewildered and laughing going <oh my god this cant be right, what is this> cos i am like a foot bigget than him And then the best bit sat night at the condert i saw him sat alone so after like half an hour plucked up th courage to talk to him, we were sat for quite a while talking bout what i do at college and how he thinks americans are better cooks but yerthat guy is one of the cutest and nicest guys iver ever met, me n danny, best buddies LOL
JAMES MARSTERS.....the best bit!!! wel what can i say that u dont already know, if u look the word perfect up in the dictionary that guys pic is there... my phot with him was amazing he made me feel so welcome and he is just so fit an his skin is so soft. OHHHHH he loved the piccy, he smiled loadsa and said in these exact words <Oh my god thats amazing, you even got the shirt right, thats sooo cool, awww thankyou> (i memorised it streight away LOL) so yer that made my day AND OH WOW YOU GUYS MISSED A TREAT Steve, spikes stunt double was there as joined james on stage for a Q&A, well steve kept punching James in the arm and all of a sudden james just got up and punched him (not really) and they started doing this whole stunt thing on stage, it was soooo amazing to watch and very very cool. James's Q&A was brilliant, one woman hit the nail no the head when she said no other actor cares and respects their fans as much as he does and he has this amazing abilty that no matter how many people are around you, he always makes you feel like you are the most special person in the world....god that guy is amazing....
So all in all............
all in all i had the time of my life, spikettes rock. i mostly spent time with Az, Shel, Emz, NL,BlueJean, PK, Ditto debs and daf, M and Travis, and how can i forget Wil and Twistie i love you guys so much, u r all amazing
The guest rocked, Danny is my new best mate and James is well......james is everything
THE HARVEST ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Want more? From "Medusa" on the Mobsters Board:
Posted: Mon Jun 23, 2003 6:50 pm
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, I'm back from the Harvest, and Rhonda and I had an absolute blast! It was our first con, but it certainly won't be our last!
The Q & A's were very interesting, and I thought I'd pass on a few bits of info.
James did two, the one on Saturday together with James Leary (who is adorable - he started signing my program on Tony Head's page by accident, fell off his chair laughing and then wrote 'James Leary aka Tony Head' - and then nearly did the same on Rhonda's program! Bless...), and the Sunday one he was billed to do on his own, but halfway through he dragged Steve Tartaglia, his stunt double (whose roots were the same lenght, which amused the audience no end), on stage as well. James and Steve sat next to each other and Steve kept punching James on the arm in an affectionate way, which apparently hurt. Then James pretended to get pissed off with him about it, and they did this brilliant stunt fight, where at one stage James threw Steve off the stage, and Steve did this backflippy rolly thing. It was amazing! They seemed really close, and Steve said that James was a trooper because he'd sometimes pretend to have an injury so Steve could have some work to do and get paid a bit more. He also initially had to stand in for James in the 'Smashed' wall scene, because James arrived on set an hour late (the only time during the entire show, James claims). He was mortified, because he'd just had a dinner with loads of chilli and garlic, so he stuffed a handfull of mints in his mouth so Sarah wouldn't be upset. Luckily James arrived then.
As for James, I can't quite remember everything he said, and on what day, but here goes:
First thing first: there is a very lucky girl wondering around Wales at the moment! James misheard a question and thought somebody asked him 'who he wanted to do it with'. He then said he had sex on the brain ever since he'd kissed the girl in Wales (a 'rockchick' who was at the gig in Newport) because he'd had a 9 month break from women. Damn, I'm jealous...
He said in both talks that at the end of season 6 and the beginning of season 7 he was very depressed, and that the Crazy-Spike stuff wasn't as far removed from him as you'd imagine. A lot of it had to do with having to do the AR scene in 'Seeing Red', but there was other stuff as well (he didn't elaborate) and he said he basically had to find himself again.
Somebody asked him outright if 'Dangerous' was about Michelle Trachtenberg, and he laughed, said something I didn't catch (damn!) and then said there was no way he was going to answer that question. However, when he was asked later who out of the Buffy cast he would turn into a vampire if he could he did say 'Michelle Trachtenberg'.
He made a slightly spoilery comment about Spike's return to 'Angel', which I have posted in the spoiler board.
He said he was limited in the amount of travelling he could do because he is taking care of his niece at the moment. Didn't elaborate why. He was asked what made him happy and said his guitar, food and water and one thing he wanted to keep to himself. He referred to the 'one thing' again later. No guessing what he was talking about there...
He did a monologue from 'the Tempest' that had the whole hall so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.
He again said that he thought Buffy didn't love Spike, that she was still in love with Angel. He also thinks that when Spike returns he'll leave her alone, he won't go and 'stalk' her again. He wants her to be happy. He also said that if he had known from the start that Spike was going to be redeemed and that he was getting a soul, he would have played pre-soul Spike with less soul to make the contrast greater. Have to say I'm glad he didn't, personally. I really can't imagine it having played out any other way.
Someone thanked him for giving so much time to his fans, and that he had the ability to make everybody feel special (he really did. I watched him sign autographs to 500 people, and every single person came away from him floating. He shook everybody's hand, gave eye contact and the smile never left his face. Amazing to watch), and how did he do it. He said that he's an actor, he loves people, and he thinks every person is an individual and therefore fascinating. He said he'd always treated people like individuals apart from a short spell in his youth, and that it came naturally to him.
Someone else said to him just after that that they were worried about him, because he'd been giving it his all, and touring as well, and that he looked tired (which he did, but no less attractive). He was very touched, and said he hadn't slept much recently, and that he tried to relax by taking hot baths and putting a pillow over his head.
He also mentioned that he had been given a lot of amazing presents, he had obviously spent the night before unwrapping them all. He mentioned a few necklaces he'd been given (he was wearing them all under his t-shirt), and some books. He also singled out a girl who had written him a letter and said he would like her to come and see him after, because he had gone through something he thinks she's going through, and he might be able to give her some advice.
There was lots more I'm sure, but I have to go home and cook now. I just wanted to give you an idea of what it was like. I was completely blown away by how nice he was. Very, very attentive to everybody, very polite to all the staff. Just an all-round lovely person. It makes me appreciate his talent even more, because he is about as far removed from EvilSpike as you can get!

The lucky bitca! Mind you, it's just started persisting down. Looks like it's in for the weekend. Not surprised as it's our town's Pageant this weekend and it always, always rains. ;D Got an email from Sno this morning. She was at the last gig and says it was a free for all so no chance of a party afterwards or anything. Her friend Kathi virtually limped home to Germany.
