Well D was at the hospital this morning and it appears he doesn't have asthma....he has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease....so it's just as well he's quit smoking or thing's wouldn't have looked quite so positive. They are re-checking his bloods re; the liver questions and also his blood sugar levels. All his meds now have to be changed and some he's to stop taking altogether He's back at the doc's on Thursday so we should know the results of the test's hopefully, and also find out if and when he can go back to work.

No wonder the asthma meds didn't seem to help D Teebs! Glad they've got a proper diagnosis and he'll be getting the right treatment now ...have they said anything about work or do they not know?

Me too, remember how ironing boards used to have that white bit for resting the iron on? Maybe it was made from asbestos! Hope your hubby is 100% soon Teebs.

Apologies for the double post D has just been back to the doc's to get his new meds for his COPD and to ask if he could go back to work on Monday.......the doc told him no way and has signed him off for another MONTH . Needless to say this has upset D as he is worried about keeping his job under the circumstances. I know his health is far more important, but it's still worrying .

Oh Teebs , I'm so sorry for all the worry you two are having I hope Ds employers will be reasonable under the circumstances , but his health IS more important ...and you never know ..he could become an ebay tycoon without having to work as hard ;D

I can be very critical of our company, but the good thing is that when the Tory Tossers privatised us all we negotiated to take our existing terms and conditions with us. Which means after a few years service you get 6 months sick leave on full pay, and if it is so serious it has to continue past that, you still get half pay; and they can't touch you (unless it's obvious you can never return to work, of course). There's a tendancy just to accept this, and take it for granted, so it always comes as a horrible shock to realise that probably most of the workforce aren't covered like this. But in any event it is immoral at best to get rid of people because of a bout of health in the 21st century. Call ourselves civilised? Sincerely hope this situation just doesn't arise for D, and that all works out well in the long run. Big to you both.

Thanks PK. D went up to the factory today and they were really quite shocked at his diagnosis and told him not to worry about his job as all would be okay and just to concentrate on getting better.
