Angel - Season 4 official announcement: Date, Price, Artwork, Extras!Earlier today we reported on Amazon.com's pre-order listing for Angel - Season 4 on DVD. At the time we mentioned that the "information has not been verified with Fox".
Well, that's changed! Fox formally announced the release just at the close of business today. They verified the Sept. 7th release date we reported, and gave additional information of course.
With a 6-DVD set presented in 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ration, expect a list price of $59.98 in the USA and CA$89.98 in Canada. English Dolby 2.0 sound is available, as is a French soundtrack as well. Look for subtitles in English and Spanish. Here's the cover art:
(I'm putting it here as a link; click here -Cy)
EXTRAS! EXTRAS! There are a number of supplements available on this set, and we've got 'em for you on this disc-by-disc content breakdown:
* Disc 1 - Deep Down; Ground State; The House Always Wins With Optional Commentary by David Fury and Andy Hallett; Slouching Toward Bethlehem * Disc 2 - Supersymmetry; Spin the Bottle with optional commentary by Joss Whedon and Alexis Denisof; Apocalypse, Nowish with optional commentary by Vern Gillum and Steven DeKnight; Habeas Corpses; Featurette - Angel and the Apocalypse * Disc 3 - Long Day's Journey; Awakening; Soulless * Disc 4 - Calvary; Salvage; Release; Orpheus with optional commentary by Terrence O'Hara and Jeffrey Bell * Disc 5 - Players; Inside Out with Optional Commentary By Steven DeKnight; Shiny Happy People; The Magic Bullet with optional commentary by Jeffrey Bell * Disc 6 - Sacrifice; Peace Out; Home with optional commentary by Tim Minear; Featurettes: Prophecies: Season 4 Overview; Unplugged: Season 4 Outtakes; Last Looks: The Hyperion Hotel; Fatal Beauty and the Beast; Malice in Wonderland: Wolfram & Hart
Joss Whedon's legacy continues to be preserved on DVD, even if his shows are all cancelled on at the moment. While we wait for the box office version of Firefly, and for word of Whedon's next move after that, let's enjoy some more Angel on DVD, eh?

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest ...don't think the men in suits understand the concept .....video's are becoming obsolete cos you can buy a DVD player for £40, and DVD's don't wear out. They think fans are mugs and will buy both...tsk, as if the world and his wife haven't recorded em on video or downloaded on puters

According to DVD Review online, WHSmith may have dropped a clanger and advertised DVDs when it's actually the Video box set part one the editor contacted 20th Century Fox who said the DVD's won't be out till 2005....very odd!

Anyone remeber when CDs were almost indestructable? not anymore. Anyway getting to my point now anyone here in the UK able to hire Angel (Or BTVS) videoes/DVDs from their video rental stores? I asked at Blockbuster and they said no and they never have, but I dont know if thats just my local one or everyone of them

Angel - Halloween Announcement for Final Season DVDs Posted by David Lambert 10/31/2004 In the final season, Angel has finally emerged from 200 years of darkness, but the fine line between good and evil is harder to see than ever!
That's the tag line for Angel - The Complete 5th Season, which Fox is announcing this Halloween weekend (how appropriate!) for an in-store date of February 15, 2005. Fox's information shows that this will be released in 16x9 Anamorphic Widescreen.List price is $59.98 (CAN$89.98 in Canada), for 990 minutes that cover 22 episodes. Among those, look for a special re-appearance by Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia. Fox Home Entertainment hasn't sent out the cover art yet (stay tuned for that), but here is the disc-by-disc breakdown of episodes and announced extras:
Disc 1: "Conviction" (Part 1) - Commentary by Writer/Director Joss Whedon "Just Rewards" (Part 2) "Unleashed" "Hell Bound" Featurette: "Hey Kids! It's Smile Time!"
Disc 2: "Life of the Party" "The Cautionary Tale of Nemero Cinco" "Lineage" "Destiny" - Commentary by Director Skip Schoolnik, Writers David Fury and Steven S. DeKnight and Juliet Landau.
Disc 3: "Harm's Way" "Soul Purpose" - Commentary by Director / Actor David Boreanaz, Writer Brent Fletcher, Christian Kane "Damage"
Disc 4: "You're Welcome" - Commentary by Director / Actor David Fury, Christian Kane and Sarah Thompson "Why We Fight" "Smile Time" "A Hole In The World" - Commentary by Writer/Director Joss Whedon, Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof Featurette: "Angel 100"
Disc 5: "Shells" "Underneath" - Commentary by Director Skip Schoolnik, Writer Elizabeth Craft, Writer Sarah Fain and Adam Baldwin "Origin" "Time Bomb" Featurette: "Angel: Choreography of a Stunt"
Disc 6: "The Girl in Question" "Power Play" "Not Fade Away" - Commentary by Co-Writer/Director Jeffrey Bell Featurettes: "Angel: The Final Season" (27:15) "To Live & Die in L.A.: The Best of Angel" (8:48) "Halos and Horns: Recurring Villainy" (9:22) "Angel Unbound: The Gag Reels" (8:51)
Wonder if this means the US get S5 on DVD first ?

Any pre-order sites yet? I'm wondering if it wouldn't be cheaper to order and pay postage from Canada than pay the rip off prices here

CD WOW have Angel S5 Region 1 DVDs at £29.99 delivered...Its galling to find that is so much cheaper than R2 at £55.99 ...another e.g of the rip off prices we have to put up with in this country ;D I may have discovered how to change our DVD player settings from R2 to multi region.....just need to get hold of an disc to play, then I'm ordering S5

play.com's £55.99 for season 5 is all-inclusive (i.e. delivery!) - Amazon's isn't, you have to pay postage on top - just in case anyone didn't know...

That isn't true, if you click on Super Saver. Delivery is free when you spend over a certain amount, and this is way over.
They have earlier seasons at about half that price... I resisted the temptation today (but only because I was waylaid by buying some movies!).
