lol, bless you, DeeDee! I used to have left-right differentiation problems, too! My dad still does *snarls at mention of father with whom she is pissed off*. You have to say treble and bass (as in clefs, for reading music) otherwise he can't work it out.

I just noticed today that my Yahoo account now holds 250 MB! Strange, they didn't send out an announcement about that when it went from 100 to 250... Guess they're trying to meet up with MSN's new storage amount. Still can't beat gmail though ha! ;D

Right. Someone wot knows about websites more than me - I've been fiddling around with my website, and it's doing okay. Nice. Checked out the file manager, and there seem to be 2 of some of the files; one *.html (which says HTML as type) and one *.html.bak (which says FILE as type). I'm assuming the latter is a copy/backup of the other. (a) am I right, and (b) do I really need it? I mean, would it all go kerflooey if I deleted the *.html.bak files? Because they're taking up valuable fic space, which, okay, I don't need RIGHT now, but I might need in the future, so if I CAN delete them with impunity, I will. Any ideas? Also, how do I get my bravenet guest book onto the site? Someone? There's some code to cut and paste into it, but they don't really say how that bit works... or I'm to dim to understand!

Yes, *.html.bak would be a back up of the original file. Though I've never heard of a server creating automatic backups that are stored using your storage space. You should be able to delete those backup files without problems. Just make sure you have your own backups on your computer. If there's code to copy and paste, you probably just stick that code in your html file whereever it is you want your guest book to appear. "...disarm, can you hear the British ambulance..." "...I'm just a little boy with an untrained voice..." gah he's beautiful!

Problem is, I just use tripod's site builder which needs no knowledge of html. Oh well, Guess I'll just have to grit my teeth and stop avoiding the html... Thanks, anyway... I'll go and delete those backups, I've got my own on my computer, and on disk, so I don't think I need them, lol!

Problem is, I just use tripod's site builder which needs no knowledge of html. Ohhhhhhhhhh Do they not let you switch to HTML view while you're using their builder? Yep, it'd help a bunch. You have more control over what you do if you just code it instead of relying on "site builders" and other programs like *cough*evil*cough* FrontPage. And this is my tech thread so mmmmwwwaaaahhaaaahahahah I can go on all I want about that kind of thing heh! ;D < daily-rant="nerdy"> Front Page is evil! Internut Exploder is evil! </daily-rant> hmmm did you know that < d also gets turned into ;D?

LMAO!! Well, you can create a page in the site builder, so it's all pretty and everything, and then you can edit in the html editor, which is okay. I'm not quite as terrified of HTML as I used to be now I understand how it works (thanks to Grey), but I'm certainly not up to doing an entire page in HTML! Anyway, leetle button is on my website now so thanks for the advice! It even works, I tested it. But I didn't bother leaving myself a message...

Yup, it works! Hurrah, I did it right! ;D I changed the message a little to say Slayergirl rather than Pixie. Parents know I go by the name of Pixie in some places, but I'd rather they didn't find out about Slayergirl... at least for a while! Lol. Luckily, I doubt they'd track it down...

I know how you feel about the parents thing. Sometimes I google myself and my aliases to see what shows up, and therefore what would show up if they did a search...

heh, 'Pixie' is prolly hard to find, given that it's just a type of fantastical being, but I'd rather not take too many risks! Especially given how open I am on here in comparison with how close-mouthed I am at home...

Okay, quick question. If a DVD player says that the format is PAL/NTSC color screen, what the hell does that mean? It says loads of stuff about, it won't work if you try playing a DVD from the wrong region in it (well, duh!), but doesn't say what the right region is. I'm assuming it's region 2, as I bought it here in UK (and it certainly does play region 2 DVDs), but the PAL/NTSC thing is confusing me... can someone explain?
