Yay, psycho puppets!! ;D *ahem* Casting sides are out and about for this ep.... Smile Time is a kiddies show with cute ickle puppets and song singing. A 7 year old, Tommy, is watching intently even though he is a poorly boy. Tommy's mom is on the phone to her mom, explainging that he is but that she has to go to work etc.... As she leaves the room the puppet that was singing starts talking to Tommy (yay, this kinda stuff is always real creepy. And X Files-ish, double yay!). He orders Tommy to touch the screen and when he does all kinds of static shit happens, his hands on either side of the puppet's head. The puppet, Polo seems to be enjoying the touching too much, if you ask me! And seems to be sucking the energy or something from poor Tommy Tommy falls to the flor, and mom walks back in, a bit distracted so she doesn't see him at first and then....END OF TEASER! Another living room and a little girl is hugging her screen, swaying. Gunn seems to bein the show, fighting one of the puppets - yay! Angel is battling another one.... The girl, Hannah, is hit by a blast of white light from the screen, but this seems to be a good thing. I'm liking the sound of this so far. Hope they make the puppets ultra creepy and scary ;D

Wolfgirl returns, huh? Well, they did hint at it in her ep, but I can't see the point. *shrugs* And the Furious One just has to get in on the act!

From tensai at Spoiler Slayer - www.spoilerslayer.com/archives/002645.php I know it's been quiet for a while, but I do have a bit of info on 'Smile Time' that I can pass along. It's certainly shaping up to be an interesting episode. According to reports, as expected, the puppets will play an integral part of the show. This is causing a lot of work on the sets, as they have to be modified to fit both regular actors, the puppeteers, and the puppets. The actual puppets could almost be called 'muppets', as it appears that the work will have a connection to Henson's Production company. My own speculation is that the work may be done by Henson's Creature Shop, which worked on series like 'Farscape'.
Not a great deal more info on the plot, but a source also mentions that at some point Angel will be turned into a puppet. As a puppet, he may be actually be torn apart, and have to be 'put back' together again back at Wolfram and Hart.

Episode summary from Mythical BoardsEpisode 14
While Nina the werewolf shows romantic interest in Angel, he investigates a demon-infested children’s television program and gets turned into a puppet; Gunn makes a deal to keep his newly implanted mental powers; and Wes and Fred’s relationship heats up.
As an ailing 7-year-old boy watches “Smile Time” on , the puppets on the show instruct him to put his hands on the screen, which weakens him until he collapses. Later, at Wolfram and Hart, Fred reports to Knox that 11 young children have recently been hospitalized after mysterious collapses. Meanwhile Nina, the werewolf Angel helped recently, arrives for her monthly confinement during the full moon. As Angel leads her to a secure cell, Harmony tells Gunn he filed the wrong document for a court hearing, which worries him. A moment later, as Angel locks Nina in her cell, she admits she now looks forward to seeing him each month. She asks if he’d like to have breakfast with her the next day, but he dodges the invitation. Later, though, Angel tells Wes about the awkward moment, and says he’s afraid to get involved with Nina because he can’t attain perfect bliss without turning back into Angelus. Wes says if there’s someone who can make Angel happy, he shouldn’t ignore it… which sounds like he might also be talking about himself and Fred. Just then Fred enters and tells them about the mysterious children’s epidemic. Fred says she can’t figure out what’s causing the kids’ symptoms, but Angel shuffles through photos of the affected children and sees they all have a on in the background… and that they all collapsed around 7:30 in the morning, while watching . A bit later, after Lorne tells Angel that “Smile Time” airs at 7:30, Angel goes to the studio, where he finds a passage to a secret room. There a man with a towel draped over his head sits limply in front of a large metal egg. The man tries to warn Angel away, but then the egg emits a blinding light that blasts Angel out of the room. When he picks himself up again, Angel realizes he’s been turned into a felt-covered puppet.
Angel returns to Wolfram and Hart, and after his friends react to his transformation, they watch “Smile Time.” They don’t see anything obviously sinister, but Fred asks an assistant to tape it so they can analyze it later. Angel is so mad about his transformation that he wants to launch a full-scale assault on the studio, but the others calm him down and Gunn and Lorne set off to speak to the show’s creator, Gregor Framkin. After they leave, Nina enters Angel’s office, and he immediately ducks under his desk. She tries to talk to him, but he refuses to come out. She finally leaves and Angel crawls out again, but then Spike walks in and sees Angel as a puppet. Spike laughs and Angel throws him out, but as he does, the other employees see him, too. Finally Angel attacks Spike, but Spike tosses him off and into an elevator, which then opens in the lobby a moment later, revealing the new Angel to everyone there, too. Meanwhile Gunn and Lorne find Framkin (the man in the towel) at the studio, but when they say why they’ve come, Framkin refuses to talk with them. Frustrated, Gunn and Lorne finally leave, and as they do, we see that “Framkin” is really another large puppet, whose body is being worked by the show’s puppet, Polo, who then summons all the other puppets to an emergency meeting.
At the puppet meeting Polo realizes that Angel must have found the “nest egg,” which is the source of all their powers. This means their secret is now in jeopardy, so they decide to stop draining children’s life forces one by one, and use tomorrow’s show to drain every child in their audience. Framkin, slumped nearby, rouses enough to protest, but Polo shoves his hand into Framkin again, making him wail in pain. Meanwhile, at Wolfram and Hart, Angel finally reveals his new self to Nina. She says she still likes him, but as she pats his felt, she transforms into the werewolf and yanks him into the cage. About the same time Gunn, upset after several recent mental lapses, meets with Dr. Sparrow, who agrees to make Gunn’s fading mental powers permanent if Gunn will help him with a legal matter involving a shipload of illegal drugs. Meanwhile Wes, Fred, and Knox analyze the “Smile Time” video, but don’t find anything unusual. Fred sends Knox home, and after he’s gone, Wes asks Fred about her relationship with Knox. She says she rejected his romantic overtures. She then notices that one of the puppets in the video seems to be talking directly to the camera during a group number. A bit later Wes and Fred explain to Angel that the video contains a magically cloaked two-way signal that allows Framkin to drain energy from the children in the audience. They also realize, from the strength of the signal, that Framkin may be planning a mass energy drain in the show’s next broadcast. Wes says he can find a spell to break the magic and free the previously afflicted kids. Then Gunn enters, mentally sharp once again, and tells them it’s not Framkin but his demon-possessed puppets who are the real villains. A few minutes later the group marches out of Wolfram and Hart, armed for puppet battle.
A bit later, as the puppets’ show begins, Angel and his friends burst onto the set. As Angel wrestles with Polo, he orders his friends to activate the nest egg. Meanwhile Wes and Fred find the nest eggs and Wes begins reading from a long scroll, which causes the egg to open and flash its blinding light. Wes tells Fred not to look, and keeps reading. A moment later Ratio attacks Wes, and as they fight, Fred picks up the scroll and continues the incantation. At the same time the fight in the studio continues, until Angel and Gunn finally vanquish Polo and his friends. In the secret room Ratio finally starts to overpower Wes, so Fred pulls out a gun and shoots him, then goes back to chanting as Wes finishes off the puppet. Finally, as Fred reaches the end of her chant, the nest egg cracks and explodes. As it does, a young girl whose energy was being drained by the broadcast is suddenly released from its spell. A bit later Nina wakes in her cell, and reacts with horror to the bits of Angel’s stuffing all around her. Then Angel greets her, saying he escaped safely, and promising that he’ll be his old self in a few days. Finally he invites her to breakfast, and she accepts. Meanwhile Wes congratulates Fred on a job well done and starts to leave, but she calls him back and asks if he’s been sensing her vibes lately. He just looks blank, so she finally grabs him and kisses him. Then she asks if he got that signal, he finally realizes what’s going on, and they kiss again.
This cannot be right! Are we hallucinating again?! Fred has always been real uncomfortable with Wes crushing on her, so why the turnabout?! Maybe we'll see it coming in the previous episodes.... But it can't last. They have no chemistry, and for a scientist that is bad! Angel being turned into a puppet is excellent news, and a stab at a metaphor. And then we have this... Spike tosses him off ... *cough*

I was a bit worried about the line there about the fight between our boy and BB 'Spike tosses him off and into an elevator' and for a minute was in Spangel land! This sounds like a lame ep....and I quite like the idea of Wes and Fred getting it on ....better than Fred and Spike!

Gads, no! he's been mooning (!) after her for so goddamn long and she didn't like it... WRITERS/SHOWRUNNERS, that's what you gave us! I reckon she is trying to be interested in him, because she has fallen for Spike and feels it is hopeless, and somehow not right. But she so totally is concerned about him and what he does/thinks, and goes all flirty downcast eyes and giggly when he talks to her (Harm's Way was a prime example). Deep down she is a fun-lovin' gal, and non-judgmental. Spike couldn't do better in the Jossverse.
This is what the Americans charmingly call fanwanking, I believe, LMAO!
Pndora'ssummaries are never very deep, major things get missed out, so it may not be so bad an ep. And I like creepy puppets... I want to see Angel's stuffing strewn round Nina's cage.... Oh, and how irresponsible of Wes to be egging Angel on to happiness. methinks he would stake him if Angelus came out to play in a heartbeat, if he had the chance, lol! And Gunn is falling further into murkiness... only Spike can save Charlie now, I reckon.

*wonders*... is this going to be one of those awkward Wes/Cordy kisses? Yeah it says they do it twice, but so did W/C... Sometimes the writers just aren't consistant!

I have moved this for spikesgirl as she put it in the Ep 15 thread! We like spoilers being posted, but yeah, do check they haven't already been posted, and do credit the source, preferably with a link back to the site you found them. Highlights of 'Smile Time'
As mentioned earlier, the episode does revolve around evil puppets stealing the life essence from children via their television show. Nina, the werewolf, also makes a return in this episode.
- Nina arrives for her monthly stay, and makes it clear that she's interested in Angel as more than just a friend.
- Angel is worried to take a chance on a relationship again, Wes thinks that he should.
- Fred comes to Angel about an illness that has affected a number of children, Lorne figures out that it might be connected to the show - 'Smile Time'.
- Angel goes to the studio to investigate and encounters a man (Gregor Framkin) in a hidden room.
- Angel is hit by a blast of light from some equipment in the room, and is turned into a puppet.
- At the office, Puppet-Angel tries to avoid Nina while the others investigate Framkin.
- The Fang Gang discovers that Framkin is also a puppet, being controlled by the show's puppets.
- Led by Polo, the show puppets decide that instead of taking one life essence at a time. They will drain the entire viewing audience.
- Puppet-Angel reveals what has happened to him to Nina, who promptly turns into a werewolf and gains a new chew toy.
- We also discover that Gunn's mental acumen is only temporary, the Doctor offers to make it permanent for a price.
- A rescued Angel and newly-charged Gunn, gather the others and go after the puppets.
- After they defeat the puppets and save the children, Angel tells Nina that he'll have breakfast with her.
- Fred is also feeling romantic, and shows Wesley how she feels about him by kissing him. Well, you can see we have had the summary already, but this is presented in nice bite size chunks. But like I say, don't forget to credit the source. (This applies to anyone bringing ANYTHING to the board from another site, not just the spoilers). Reminder for everyone - it does pay to read the threads first to see if the info has already been posted. AND, sources must be credited, whether they are for spoilers or anything else brought over from another site. ETA - I found the link to the info above - it is from tensai at Spoiler Slayer - www.spoilerslayer.com/archives/cat_angel_spoilers.php

Have a gander at the "real" Puppet Angel! Pretty freakin' hilarious, but I still think Dianna B's effort is better!
