I'm surprised at the film choice. I was a bit disappointed when I saw that for the first time but it's an okay film to watch...

Heh, and I always think of Eric Morecombe ;D And also the dream my mum had once that Gene Kelly phoned her to ask her to marry him ;D And that we always used to joke that there was auntie Debbie, when her show came on ;D

Good man Q&A Bonanza
Despite his busy schedule, James was happy to answer another batch of questions recently. So to make up for October's lighter Q&A, here are a few mid-session extras. This also means that there will now be a November Q&A as well, so be sure to check back on November 15.
What kind of coffee do you like when you can choose?
Espresso. The darker the roast, the stronger you can make it.
This question relates to a scene in Macbeth: a physician tells him Lady M has gone mad. Macbeth then asks him, "canst thou not minister to a mind diseased?" Would you interpret this as his asking the physician to have her painlessly killed to avoid further suffering? HELL NO! Macbeth is desperately trying to save his wife. He knows he is driving her insane and he is really just beating up on the doctor for not being a psychiatrist.
What has been the greatest compliment you've received during your acting career and who gave it to you? A 13 year-old girl who thought that a Beckett one act I did called Ohio Impromptu was an exciting play. Beckett is very difficult to make exciting.

He really should have more hairs on his chest, drinking that stuff ;D Although I do like the proper teeny espresso cups; very stylish.

I hate it when Starbucks et al give out those huge containers. I like a proper tiddy cup like they had back in the day. There's no finesse anymore!

I used to date a guy who drank his coffee black s, I started drinking mine that way too. I still do like it very strong, but I like to put all those flavory creamers in it, like carmel and stuff. I could learn to like it black again for James, though, if that's how he wants it!

November's...
Is there any living creature (mammal, reptile, insect, fish, etc.) that just completely gives you the willies? The Tasmanian devil. Their cries in the night will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and leap off your neck. They have very powerful jaws and the sounds of them breaking bone from the carcass of their kill can literally be heard for miles.
When Clark was telling Professor Fine about his suspicions about the sorority girls, Fine says...."But Clark, there is no such thing as vampires." Was that written by the Smallville writers as a special homage to Spike? That was written by Steve DeKnight, for christsakes, who should have more dignity.
Why did the guitar become your instrument of choice to learn? It was my father's.
You've said that acting is not so much putting on a mask but rather a process of selecting facets of one's own personality that fit the character, which is much more revealing and truthful. What pieces of yourself do you feel are applicable to be Macbeth? Force of will, impatience, and ruthlessness. But we all have those.
Spam or bologna? Spam (Steve says “owww, you are white trash!”)
Favorite: Halloween costume growing up? Hmmmm, Super Monkey Man – I had an ape mask that fit all around my head and it had artificial hair. Planet of the Apes was out and I was all about the monkey. I terrorized my neighborhood that night.
Indulgence that you have now that you weren't able to have before you were famous? A swimming pool, a great guitar and every video game that looks interesting.
Next session: December 15

December's...
When you were studying acting, what was one of your favorite acting exercises and which ones did you dread? I’m not a big fan of acting exercises. I think of acting as an old world profession and one should therefore be trained through apprenticeship. I ran into problems when I tried to take acting apart and study it bit by bit. I did much better watching good actors work. But I do love trust exercises.
How did you come upon music? Al Green. Third grade.
What do you wear when you want to feel like you look really good? Uhhh, lets see...a good pair of jeans, a tight, white t-shirt, and a nice old leather jacket.
What was the audition like and how did you react when you found out you got the part in PS I Love You? The audition was a taped audition in Los Angeles. I felt that I did a good job, but not a great job. It was one of many that week and so I forgot about it, which is the healthy thing to do. When my manager Steve told me the news that I got the role, I felt numb and didn’t allow myself the joy that I could have had, but was immediately cured of a head cold.
How do you define passion? Um, passion is an emotional response that overwhelms reason. It is emotion strong enough to motivate you into action. Sometimes that’s good and sometimes that’s very, very bad.
What kind of cook are you? What is your best dish? Oh, I’m a good cook. Roast duck with orange sauce.
Was there a light-bulb moment, a defining moment when something in your portrayal of Spike finally clicked and you went, "ah…THERE he is!' Yes, it happened before the audition while having sweaty sex with my then girlfriend. Somewhere in that passion and sweat I think I got the character.
Favorite: Tom Waits song: "Picture in a Frame" Smells: The ocean in the morning, clean, washed skin, and a ripe apple.
Next session: January 15

Love the question about Passion. I hope our passion is 'strong enough to motivate' some of us into losing weight by May
