Article about the future of Caprica, at AirlockAlpha; including: The audience does have to grow, but Syfy doesn't have immediate plans to boost its marketing of "Caprica." The network does believe, however, that the series will start to sell itself beginning March 5 when "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Torchwood" alum James Marsters joins the cast as Barnabus Greeley.

I'm def gonna have to go round to daughters once a week to watch it. I'm really into now and so is Daph. We're gripped and the episodes aren't long enough and James isn't even in it yet. Plus that girl fascinates me with them daft googly eyes...

So JM's first appearance on the show (Know Thy Enemy) amounted to no more than two/three minutes, but seems like he made an impact FilmSchoolRejectsAs a fan of Buffy and Torchwood, I’ve been anxiously awaiting James Marsters’ Caprica debut; and I think that whoever directed last night’s episode knew that—Marsters was basically hidden behind a screen during his first scene and then almost ceremoniously revealed, as if he were some kind of rock star stepping out on stage. It was a little cheesy but I know one middle-aged woman (aka my mom) who was hooting about it.
Marsters brings a little punch to the show, not only because he’s a sci-fi/fantasy fan favorite but also because his character is being set up in direct opposition to Sister Clarice and that’s going to add an interesting level of tension to the show. Sister Clarice has been trying to get a hold of Zoe’s avatar from the very first episode. We don’t know how she plans on using it, but clearly the avatar is going to help the Soldiers of the One and further their cause. The introduction of Barnabas Greeley, a terrorist who’s obviously more interested in immediate results, is going to bring some more action to the show but it’s also going to force Sister Clarice to speed up her mission. TVOvermindJames Marsters as Barnabas had me jumping out of my seat especially when he yelled for Lacy to go. I can't wait to see ore from him, because last night was nothing but a big ole tease! The man is going to rock and I can't wait for him to take names while he kicks ass all over the Twelve Colonies. I wonder how many factions of the S.T.O. are within the organization, which is ridiculous to have because how can you be unified under one true God if there is dissension among the ranks? Wait. That's our culture…

LA TimesSo a guy, his arm wrapped in barbed wire, says, "Pain keeps our brain from going down bad paths." We have to wonder if that's how we should define Barnabus (James Marsters). Barnabus is a local STO leader, though Sister Clarice calls him just an enforcer. Lacy Rand has been looking for him -- a missing link to get she and robo-Zoe offworld to Gemenon -- and she's found him. He's not Spike (Getting shirty with Lacy! Some will get that.) or Brainiac, but there's a definite Marsters quality to this guy. Though he passed on assisting Lacy, I think that's only the start of this journey. SquadYes, that was James Marsters (Spike from 'Buffy' and 'Angel') with the brunette hair and the distinctly non-British accent. The fangirls get a moment to squeal before we continue.
It's difficult to present an opinion of James Marsters' character or appearance. It was a pretty strong opening (and fake out. The audience was supposed to think he was shooting heroin and not wrapping barbed wire around his arm). Sadly, he didn't get much screen time beyond that. Hopefully we'll be seeing Barnabas again soon.

I dont have Sky (hell I dont even have a working aerial!)(but someone is recording Caprica for me) - but doesnt matter cos Ive just seen this episode (aint modern technology a wonderful thing???) as I couldn't wait to see James - and jeez, Barnabas is fabulous! So very intense and sure and fanatical, that is obvious - and definitely a bit nuts! you just want to know more about what makes him tick... Amazing acting from James - so much from so little time on screen. And so much more for him to get his teeth into than the other guest spots he's been doing...

Hey! Can you all get the Syfy link to work? I know I can't access the Torchwood site, cos it's just for UK, but I thought you all might be able to? www.syfy.com/rewind/The new episode 'know your enemy' was available by Saturday, and the rest of the ones that have aired are on there, too. I missed one so was able to catch up on it...you have to watch a Sprint commercial... 30 seconds long, but still nice to have them when you want them! ;D I'm fascinated with the robot...and want it to communicate with her dad some way...lol! Why won't she?? ;D
