Yes, he sang Katie!! specially cos it was requested and he hadnt practised!
he sounded fantastic last night - voice was really really good - very strong - he did a rip roaring version of the Kurt Cobain song (title i cant rememeber!) - just fabulous. And he looked really really hot and fit (ok so maybe im biased!)- white t shirt and jeans. Wonderful!
Just off to MK now... ;D

James was laid back and mellow, a stark contrast to Saturday's manicness . Sang with such ease and confidence and made me think of what he'd said at The Rift about his next album being just him and his guitar well worth the three and a half hour queue. Met lovely people as usual and thanks to the girls from Prague who lent us an umbrella. Off to MK now. Sweets crisps and bics packed ;D James and Robbie CD's at the ready. See you on the other side

Rosie goes to Union Chapel Union Chapel gig – Friday 2nd May 2008 – Union Chapel, Islington, London Loved the venue – amazing place and the acoustics are fantastic. I was sat in the third row (on my James cushions! – very hard pews) slightly to the left of centre (so I had the mic problems again) – courtesy of Pauline and being allowed in early as her helper! James' supporting singer - Benmark- was ok – much more angsty, hard hitting stuff than James does, but he was good. But we were waiting for the man himself. In jeans and a white t-shirt this time – looking very relaxed. And he sounded GREAT! Really good – his voice is getting stronger all the time and he sounds so much more sure of himself. He sang all my favourites including ‘Smile’ and’ For What I Need’ again – and ‘Dangerous’ and ‘Chocolate Jesus’ which is fast becoming a favourite. Said in an amused voice at one point having just sung ‘Smile’ – “that song is about the WORST girlfriend” – then shaking his head and grinning “but I got one good song out of it!” and then said “and this is about the best girlfriend” and sang “Up On Me” I know at one point he said after singing (I think) ‘Angel’ - “the ghosts of girlfriends past are all floating around in here – some are welcome – some are not!” Gave us a laugh anyway, because so many of his songs are about past girlfriends…! Good gig. Finished on “Civilised Man” which I like more and more. Some people were yelling for “Katie” and he said he hadn’t practised it, but he’d give it a go. So he went off for about 10 mins, much longer than he’s normally off for, and when he came back – he played ‘Katie’ – perfectly and was much whooped for his troubles – he hasn’t played that live for years apparently. And then we had 3 more encores, which included ‘Chocolate Jesus’ finishing off with James’ rendition of the Kurt Cobain song I can never remember the title of, but he did a rip-roaring version of it, really letting rip with his voice – amazing stuff. Thoroughly enjoyed it – and several people said it was the best gig they had ever heard him do. The funniest bit for me was when James did the famous tongue curl at one point and Pauline next to me was drinking - she spluttered and nearly choked when she saw what he was doing! ;D ;D It was a fantastic bit of comedy timing! She was also howling along with him like a wolf at one point (can’t remember which song!) and James was laughing at her ;D I was still up fairly late cos we were all still buzzing and had something to eat before bed. I was looking at my pictures even though I knew I had to get up early to drive to Milton Keynes…
