Already posted the basic infioa bout this in the Houston Con thread, but the official site brings more details of the upcoming DVD ;D
Beautiful, lol. I thought we were the only giddy ones allowed to say stuff like that ;D
The DVD will also be available on the UK tour, but don't know what they'll be charging us.

USA Today, Talk TodayPatrick AFB, FL: Hola your royal whitness. Ok - that was bad - I apologize... So I went to your Hip Clicks link of the USA movie starring James Marsters and couldn't help but wonder if he didn't cut all his hair off and darken it in order to distance himself from the Spike persona. What do you think? Are you planning to watch it? YFMF
Whitney Matheson: I won't catch the premiere Saturday, but I'll probably see 'Cool Money' at some point. Heck, I'd spend two hours watching James Marsters peel an orange.
And I don't know for sure, but my guess is James didn't darken his hair -- its natural color isn't platinum blond, you know. He's said he's open to playing Spike again, so I'm not sure that distancing himself from the character is a top priority.

The Guardian (real good UK paper, won't have a word said agianst it!) rates James' English accent very highly ;D In an article on the good and the downright awful accents actors inflict on us, James makes it to #3 in the BEST! Guardian UnlimitedHere are their ratings: Roll call for all-time best would be: (1) Tim Roth in Reservoir Dogs; (2) Alessandro Nivola in Mansfield Park (3); James Marsters in Buffy the Vampire Slayer; (4) Jude Law in Cold Mountain (5); Angelina Jolie in Lara Croft (6); Gary Oldman in Romeo is Bleeding (7); Kate Hudson in The Four Feathers (8); Winona Ryder in Dracula (9); Cate Blanchett in The Life Aquatic (10).
Accents of shame: (1) Marlon Brando in Mutiny on the Bounty; (2) Keanu Reeves in Dracula; (3) Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins; (4) Bob Hoskins in Nixon; (5) Vivien Leigh in A Streetcar Named Desire; (6) Willem Dafoe in The Reckoning; (7) Michael Caine in Jaws: The Revenge (8) Catherine Zeta Jones in Traffic (9); Anthony Hopkins in Bad Company; (10) Albert Finney in Erin Brockovich.
And the big raspberry for Sean Connery in every film where he doesn't wear a kilt.

LOL...the dear old Grauniad ...would have to take em to task on their ratings ...Dick van Dyke should def be first, and by strange coincidence Mary Poppins is on in the background ;D And Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie above Cate....never! Of course James should be first And no mention of Johnny Depp, who does a wonderful Scottish accent in Finding Neverland, and a great Keith Richards in Pirates lol.

They are siting particular instances of course, not overall-every-film-they-attempt-it ratings. So spot on about Sean Connery ;D
Now, as regards James, I would say his 'store people giving him directions' impression on T4 last year, was some of his best 'English' ever! ;D

But we'd rather discuss JAMES' accent now, in the James news thread, wouldn't we I always thought his little slip-ups with the accent in the Jossverse were endearing, and could be explained away by Spike having spent so much time travelling, and living in the States, lol. His genteel English accent is so spot on it makes your jaw go slack. I remember spending a whole afternoon trying to convince an English friend (male) that James was from Cali; he thought I was bonkers! I had to reveal the deep depths of my fandom and James lurve for him to concede that I did know what I was talking about! Blimey, that wasn't long after I had my first computer at home *dark ages*

His genteel English accent is so spot on it makes your jaw go slack. Just 2 things to say to that... : 1) it isn't just your jaw that goes slack (though it's one of the many things...) 2) it's not just the genteel accent that induces slackness! ;D Pretty much anything Spike/James-related can induce slackness...

I remember looking for info on the British actor playing Spike he fooled me so well ...and I'm pretty good at spotting fakes ;D Yes William was spot on, and considering how long James played Spike, there were at most 2 or 3 slip ups...although I think he missed having ASH around in Angel to draw upon sometimes.

When he was being deep and sincere Spike he went posh too.
I'm not sure everything goes slack, Pix... some things do quite the opposite... *ahem*

In fact, there was a tinge of Bristol, I felt, to his accent at the beginning, back in season 2... lol

Hey, funny you should say that DeeDee! I thought Charlemagne Bolivar was very Roddy!
And there must be something about McDowells as JM reckons he got his Spike walk from Malcolm - although it's really very like his own, to be honest ;D

A heads-up from Titan Pubishing's newslettery thing re US Buffy and Angel mags (put here because it's All.About.James!!): Titan Publishing will combine the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL magazines into a single publication this summer. The new BUFFY & ANGEL MAGAZINE will debut with #20, which continues the U.S. numbering of the Buffy mag.
The magazine will retail in the United States for $6.99, and will run 68 pages.
Both the newsstand and direct sales covers feature James Marsters, with one cover showing him as Spike, and the other a more recent shot sporting his newly-shorn hairstyle. The magazine includes an exclusive new interview with the actor. Also of interest will be the first installment of a 'Buffyverse Timeline' which will apparently try to establish dates and sequential events for everything that has happened on BtVS and AtS.
You can subscribe here - www.titanmagazines.com/us/index.htmlTwo covers! And will it really be a new interview?! On both sides of the Atlantic these mags tend to "borrow", but here's hoping.
