WB official description: BRIANIAC BRINGS CHAOS UPON THE WORLD AND DEMANDS A HUGE SACRIFICE FROM CLARK— Brainiac (guest star James Marsters.) unleashes a deadly virus, which will kill millions of people, and refuses to give Clark (Tom Welling) the vaccine unless he agrees to release General Zod. Clark turns to Lionel (John Glover), who once again channels Jor-El. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) is stunned by his newfound powers and shares the discovery with Lana (Kristin Kreuk), who decides to stand by her new man, unaware of the shocking turn Lex’s life is about to take due to Brainiac’s evil machinations. Erica Durance, Allison Mack and Annette O’Toole also star. The episode was written by Brain Peterson & Kelly Souders and directed by James Marshall And Guide: In the fifth-season finale, Clark's Kryptonian origins sow seeds of sorrow and destruction on Earth as forces affecting Lex, Lionel, Lana and Clark are set in motion, culminating in the moment for which all his trials have prepared him.It all sounds very exciting ;D ;D Naughty Brainiac ;D

This makes me wonder if we will see the end of Braniac or if he might just hang around to pop in for next season . . .

Well, the character shouldn't be killed off as he plays a role in many Superman doings.

There are loads of descriptions of the finale out there now of course, but I liked this oe so am posting it! Hee, Brainiac's a meanie ;D Super-duper dilemma
"Smallville" (8 p.m., WDWB-, Channel 20, WB). Season finale. It's an apocalypse when Brainiac (James Marsters, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") unleashes a virus that might kill millions of people. And the meanie refuses to turn over the vaccine to Clark (Tom Welling) unless he agrees to release General Zod. OK, future Man of Steel, now what? Detroit Free Press

I have to say that I am all with Cyrus....only brief glimpses of Brainiac...and lots of scene in the dark, which totally pisses me off cos you can't see what's happening....and the suit was nice....but oh so swiftly seen!!

Oooh, thank you for that bit of tongue, Cy ;D So you guys didn't understand it/couldn't follow it? So you can't tell us how Lex behaved? Lionel? How Clarkie tried to save the day? If the day was, infact, saved? What happened to Brainiac? If there was a cliffhanger ending? Tsk! The interview with John Glover that I posted yesterday in the general thread says that they rewrote the finale at the last minute. You have to wonder why they needed to do that... But I'm gathering Brainiac was "staked" again (but Clark wasn't meant to do that; he was supposed to knife the vessel aka Lex. Stupid Clark!); Lana accepted the new Lex because he was straight-up with her (stupid Clark!); that chaos reigned (and I like me some chaos ;D); and Clark is left in a bit of a fix, to say the least .

OK, what did I miss? I saw the ep, but I don't remember any staking . . . . it was a very cliff hanger-y ending. You don't have any idea what's happened to anyone really. They could all be dead for all you really know.
I liked the Clark/Chloe kiss. I was hoping she would at least get that much from him.
Obviously, I have to go back and watch it again cause I must have missed stuff. I was packing to go away today, so maybe I just wasn't paying attention? I thought I saw all the James-y bits. It still amazes me how he seems like just a completely different person. But I guess that's why they call it acting! ;D
Oooh, I did think I saw a brief glimpse of MR on American Idol this week. They didn't mention it, and it was quick, but it looked like him, kinda grinning and wiggling his fingers at the camera. I'll have to go back and have a look at that tape, too!

Yeah, MR was in the audience ;D
Well, Cy's screencaps provide the proof that it happened ;D Clarkie was meant to stick that knife into the vessel (Lex), not Brainiac. He never seems able to follow simple instructions, our farm boy ;D Brainiac would be more than happy with that as it happens. And as we know, there's plenty more of him to go around ;D
