And also from the article from Cinefantastique teebee posted: And about James Marsters' role as Milton Fine, aka Brainiac: "We know that there was basically going to be something big in that ship," Al Gough told CFQ's Ed Gross. "The ship opens and Kryptonians come out, but they aren't the major ongoing threat. Brainiac comes out of the ship and takes human form, like in Terminator 2, and he's a being of artificial intelligence. He basically takes the guise of Dr. Milton Fine, a college professor who ends up teaching Clark. We call this the grand seduction of Clark Kent, where Brainiac is trying to turn Clark against humanity in general, and Lex Luthor in particular. He basically wants Clark to see that Krypton was better than Earth and that, basically, he's got the making here for a new society. Unlike Jor-El, whose intentions become clear in the season opener, Brainiac has a much more nefarious plan and he uses Lex in it." Comics2FilmTerminator 2, woot! ;D

I expect that as soon as we're introducted to Dr. Fine and see him and Clark interact, we'll be seeing some slash fics

I already posted this with reckless abandon in the James interviews and news thread, but there's a nice spoiler in it:
Having a fight in the Fortress of Solitude! But but... does that mean his cover's blown? And which ep would this be for? ;D As ep 8 is called "Solitude" that seems a likely candidate.

Ask AusielloQuestion: Can you please bestow some Smallville news upon us? — Mary
Ausiello: First off, the show is kicking ass on Thursday nights. We're talking triple-digit gains over what WB had been averaging on Thursday nights last fall. It has also reclaimed its position as WB's most-watched show, a miraculous feat considering its formidable competition on that night. And wait until you see what producers have in store for sweeps. On second thought, don't wait — just keep reading! (SPOILER ALERT!) Tensions between Clark and Braniac spike, culminating in an explosive fight; look for Lois to go undercover as a stripper to investigate the murder of a young girl; Martha contracts a mysterious disease from the planet Krypton and is given hours to live; and we'll find out what happens when Clark has a run-in with Silver Kryptonite (read: paranoid much, Clark?).
And there's a pic of Clark and Fine from Aqua

NO "S" ON HER CHEST:
Annette O'Toole just can't get away from the occupational hazards of playing Superman's mom in "Smallville." In the Nov. 17 episode, Superman's latest nemesis, Brainiac (James Marsters) goes after Martha Kent (O'Toole), leaving her with only hours to live. "I get hit by a lightning bolt out of the sky and get this kind of flesh-eating disease," reports O'Toole. "The worst part of it was sitting in the makeup chair while they put this stuff called pus on me. It's this flesh-colored Elmer's glue, then they put this stuff that's kind of like green and gray flocking that makes your skin look like it's decaying." Fortunately, says O'Toole, the makeup only had to be applied to "one arm and my hand, my neck and a little bit up into my face. Thank God they arrested the disease before it got all over my face!" Things do get pretty dire before show's end, however. "I have a really nice kind of death bed scene with Clark (Tom Welling)." Not to worry, though, she says. "It's Smallville, eventually, I'll be recovered. We always get saved."

Don't know if we should get our hopes up or not, but Brainiac's ship is mentioned a LOT in epsiode #11 (Lockdown), and by the end everyone realises it is no longer under lock and key in Lex's custody but has *poofed*. Fingers crossed that this is just to remind us that it vanished when Brainiac did, and that he could be back...

Just seen this ..clicky on heading ;D .zap2it.com" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">.zap2it.comMarsters, Lachey, 'Nip/Tuck' Star Head to WB Monday, January 16, 2006 10:16 AM PT Brainiac is coming back, and he's looking to enlist an unwitting Lex Luthor in making the world kneel before Zod. James Marsters is set to reprise his role as Dr. Milton Fine, the alter ego of supervillain Brainiac, on "Smallville" later this season. He heads a lineup of guest stars on The WB that also includes "Desperate Housewives" star James Denton, Nick Lachey and Kelly Carlson of "Nip/Tuck." Marsters will make his return to "Smallville" in an episode called "Hypnotic," scheduled to air in the spring. In it, he'll try to use Lex's (Michael Rosenbaum) fixation on the spaceship as a way to free General Zod from the Forbidden Zone (the general's two cohorts made an appearance in this season's premiere).

'Smallville' thinks big for 100th show
SMALLVILLE. Tonight night at 8, WB. The 100th episode of the WB series "Smallville" opens with a shocker: Clark (Tom Welling), tired of hiding his superpowers secret from Lana (Kristin Kreuk), reveals his secret.
She's skeptical, so he proves it - by crushing a lump of coal into a diamond, using his heat vision to mount it onto a ring setting, and asking her to marry him.
By the standards of this or any other comic-book fantasy show, that's a Super opening. And it keeps going, to places expected and unexpected, including an element so highly hyped that it's no longer a surprise: the death, before the episode is over, of a regular character.
Several things make this one (tonight at 8) of the strongest episodes of "Smallville" since its dynamic pilot.
There's the winter setting - a blanket of snow used both as a white wonderland and a bleak metaphor.
There's the plot, which provides the end to a season-long story arc about the senatorial race between Clark's dad, Jonathan (John Schneider), and the increasingly evil Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum).
Finally, there's the sequence of events, which gives several "Smallville" players especially meaty scenes.
There's one between Lana and Lex, once he learns the news of Lana's engagement to Clark, that provides both actors with some intense material. It's one of the best pairings in the hour, emotionally speaking, but there are many, many others - as though the episode's writers, Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders, set out intentionally to celebrate this "Smallville" centennial by staging a series of dramatic duets.
Welling's Clark gets potent individual moments not only with Lana, but with his father, mother Martha (Annette O'Toole), and good friend Chloe (Allison Mack). Lana gets solo time with Chloe, and with Lois Lane (Erica Durance). Even the fathers get to share screen time, with Jonathan breaking away to visit Lex's controlling father, Lionel (John Glover).
When the hour is over, one of the regular characters mentioned above will be dead. Not just comic-book, all-a-dream, rotate-the-Earth dead, but dead, with a funeral, a farewell and a sense of loss.
Even a show that's pure fantasy can inject some reality. The better ones make a point of it, and "Smallville" is better for trying, and succeeding, tonight.

ahh silly me... I guess I should have payed attention that this is the spoiler thread.. ehh not like I've been watching SV without James anyway. I'm like 2 or 3 weeks behind on the show, cuz Javier been over here and without JM (which oddly enough are my boyfriend's initials too) there, I'm not encouraged enough to watch my recordings.

We get our Brainiac back in Ep 16 - Hypnotic ;D Some other spoilers for the ep: Question: You are no longer consigned to a cubicle? Wow, congratulations! Couldn't have happened to a nicer, more intelligent (and do you work out? You look great!) person. Now, can I please have some scoop on Alias? Or Lost. Or Smallville? Please? — Shelly Ausiello: You had me at "Do you work out?" Here's some Smallville dirt: Episode 16 is sure to be slapped with a Beef Wellington warning when a mysterious woman shows up wearing a hypnotic crystal and turns Clark into her sex slave. Naturally, Lana walks in on them just as they're about to bump humps. She'll eventually forgive him — he was in a trance, after all — but it's still the end of the road for Supercouple. After seeing how much pain hiding his true identity always seems to cause her, Clark decides that the time has come to break things off. Guess whose shoulder she cries on? If you picked Lex, you're right!
Question: I'll take anything new on Smallville. — Sean Ausiello: It’s possible that we’ll be seeing the two aliens from the season opener again Ask Ausiello

Some tidbits from the Ask Ausiello column: Question: Are Chloe and Clark going to hook up on Smallville, given the fact that the story between Clark and Lana is over? — Van
Ausiello: Over? Tell that to Clark. As things between Lana and Lex heat up, Superman is going to morph into Stalkerman.
***
Question: Please tell me John Schneider will make a return to Smallville this season. I'm having Jonathan withdrawal, especially now that Lionel is putting the moves on Martha. — Ally
Ausiello: I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing the erstwhile Bo Duke during May sweeps, when Jonathan haunts Clark after it's revealed that someone else knows his secrets.
***
Question: I'll keep trying to get you to give me some scoop on Chloe on Smallville. — E.G.
Ausiello: We can count on her to crack the code of those symbols that keep flashing in Lionel’s eyes — and the message she discovers is not a good one.
***
Question: Please!! I need some Smallville spoilers! — Tia
Ausiello: Lex is headed for a betrayal by Brainiac/Milton Fine (James Marsters) that could leave young Mr. Luthor with some superpowers of his own.
Oooh, how is Brainiac gonna do that... my mind is whirling with possibilities ;D
