It's happened again folks! Early news.. James Marsters will be appearing live in concert in London in a music special this autumn.
He will be performing for one night only at St James's Church in Piccadilly on Friday, October 28.
The historic venue in the heart of London's West End was the setting for the climax of James's hugely successful solo tour of Britain and tickets sold out quickly.
Music lovers will shortly be able to book their pew for the night at the Sir Christopher Wren designed church by contacting www.rfh.org.uk or calling 0870 163 3833. All seating is unreserved. Balcony and ground floor seats are both available. Tickets will be sold alongside the last remaining seats for the world premiere of Words & Music, which takes place at the Mermaid Theatre in London the following day.
James will be performing some of his newest songs at St James's Church as well as tracks from his solo album Civilized Man. Venue information from www.st-james-piccadilly.org

*whimpers* I'm neurotic about not being fast enough to get a ticket at all, in my circumstances. With my track record with RFH, and St James's too, I have bad vibes about it and my aura is turning black! But don't think I'd sit all meek and mild in my hotel room while y'all are at the gig, oh no. I'll be picketing outside and causing a ruckus ;D

How do you go about booking a ticket if you're a wheelchair user, PK? I'm hoping to take my daughter if I can. Is it a nightmare to sort out?
After reading your post, I'm worried I won't be able to get a ticket for her.
ETA: If need be, I'll be out there picketing with you, PK!

Thing is, although last time we needed to book for St James's they had a seating plan online which indicated wheelie spaces as well as numbered tickets, actually the seating for the gig was unreserved. So it will depend on how many wheelie spaces have been allocated for this gig. Afterall, there were only TWO for the Mermaid. And even though I can get in and out of my chair - albeit in a laboured fashion and needing asistance when I am knackered (and the travel etc makes me sooo knackered!), many venues won't allow that because of H&S regs The DDA is supposed to make it so we have a level playing field with able-bodied punters but this doesn't tend to work out in practice.

I get so angry about things like this. My eyes have been well and truly opened over the last thirteen years, since I had my daughter. There have been so many times that she hasn't been able to go to a concert because the wheelchair spaces have all sold out - even though there are still plenty of tickets left. It just makes my blood boil. My daughter has to stay in her chair for things like this. She's more or less completely paralysed from the waist down, so transfers really aren't an option. I just hope that I can book something for her. She'll be so disappointed if I can't!

That totally fucks me off as well; my money is as good as anyone else's. We have enough obstacles to face without things like that happening.
While I can understand that venues/organisations can't always hold 10 spaces back, for instance and find themselves selling just three or four, there surely can be a way to work a solution rather than turning away people ready and willing to pay while there are still plenty of tickets available.
Anyway, as far as this particular gig and location is concerned, we'll have to see what happens. As it turned out, last time I couldn't go to St James's because of travel and health complications. The extra complication of my tickets not turning up wouldn't have mattered if I'd been able to get there as they were holding replacements. But I do tend to feel doomed as far as the place is concerned, lol. Maybe it's because it's a church and there might be lightning and shaking foundations if I cross the threshold ;D

Oh yes Pk this disable discrmination thingie is pants:P and don't get me started on Planes you can't have the Exit seats cause you're disabled, but those seats have wonderful leg room and you can't have bulkhead seats if peeps have cots, * so you're stuck in a little seat with the man in front with the back down to you're Mums painful knees and he falls to sleep and Mum has to go to toilet Many times in a 9 hour flight but couldn't *

Ugh, tell me about it! Hence business class or nothing! Anyway, maybe we should be venting this all out in Room 101, or something! I'm trying to find out about spaces for the gig, so bear with me.

All I remember about St James' is that they had a ramp for wheelie users, and there were plenty of seats in the pews to the sides , cos the view was restricted, but then again, if you were sat anywhere but the first few rows,or standing against the pillars the view was restricted anyway by tall lamps, and halo haired peeps . I can't see a problem, with allowing more than just a cople of wheelies, cos the aisles were plenty wide enough, but I expect you would be at the sides It wouldn't be my first choice for a gig venue, for those reasons, and also because I thought the acoustics weren't quite good enough for a solo performance..fine for groups ..or a choir
