Lol, preparing early! Who's going? Who's taking notes and pics?! I have tickets myself... will I get there?! These are rhetorical questions, just meant to get y'all on alert. Check your cameras, sharpen your pencils! The Colosseum is in Primrose Hill Street - www.coventrycolosseum.co.uk/Locking til the time comes.... Planning etc can continue in the Euro Appearances thread

[glow=red,2,300]I'M BACK!!![/glow] But before I say anything else I want to send HUGEHUGEHUGE thanks to Ditto, Deb and Daf who were phenomenal in coming to fetch me to go to the gig, looking after me (Daf is a strong lass!), and getting me back home after. I have just sent them off into the night on their way back to Manchester Also to the lovely JIG and her equally lovely mum, Sue (who we are on the verge of signing up to be a Dirty Girl!) - especially Sue who helped me so much up in the balcony. We became very intimate on just 30 minutes acquaintance - make of that what you will, lol! ;D And although they'll never see this, the staff and associated reprobates at the Colosseum who were brilliant too - yes guys, I had another hair-raising journey being carried upstairs (but only one flight this time!) - so I could get a decent view. And also to the lovely people I met who I may have chatted to some here, there or somewhere on the net, but who spotted me and came to sya hi and chat! )Deb, Miggins, Kaleidescope, Dot and more! Love you all And last but not least the gorgeous twosome Twistie and Wil - lunch next Wednesday, not London next Friday, barmpot! Oh yeah, and GOTR were fucking amazing... but I'll get to that in a mo! ;D

Okay, the gals wanted me to start at the beginning, so anyone not wanting the preamble can skip a coupla paragraphs, lol! Work kinda went *poof* this afternoon, when the Three Sistas phoned to say they'd be arriving by 2-00 Ah, screw it, it just pays the mortgage afterall! ;D It meant they had a chance to catch up on the downloads of the RS and SO shows (Ditto's computer being a bag of shite as we Brits say ). I want Daf to come and live with me (not like that, Dirty Girls!), as she likes cleaning! ;D Anyway, we set off for Coventry not long after 3-30, made good time, would have been there to meet Twistie and Wil at the appointed hour (or half hour!), were it not for the dreaded...[glow=red,2,300]Coventry ringroad from hell!![/glow] I've battled this mythical beast before, but they seem to have gone round eradicating all trace of road numbers from their roadsigns since then so it was 1000 times worse! We drove round and round in ever decreasing circles until we suddenly spotted the road we wanted quite by accident! We then proceeded to accost a couple of locals along the way to guide us in to the Colosseum, who dealt with us deranged fools quite well. And then there we were, there it was, at last! Looking kinda seedy (the club, not us!) from the outside and with just a small queue forming in front at that time. We were able to park immediately next door at a business of some sort, which couldn't have been better. And no sooner had we unloaded ourselves and shouted to Twistie to come say hi than DebW came down the rather steep ramp to introduce herself! And she modelled the now infamous pink hat for us! Deb, so cool to meet you after being LJ friends for a short while See you next week, petal! Urgent calls of nature dictated what happened next. There was a roughish looking pub on the next corner so off we went and the locals seemed mildly amused by us and our antics. But at that stage were being very tolerant and helpful. I think I heard someone say later that they were made to buy drinks when they wanted to use the toilet which is fair enough, I guess. In the women's toilets I saw a sight I had never seen before, and I have been round the block a few times.... a machine on the wall selling... no, not tampons... no, not condoms..... yes, a vibrator with batteries for a mere £5 ;D ROTFLMFAO!! You are so horny you just can't wait so you dash to the bog to relieve yourself in more ways than one, huh?! Priceless! Back to the club. That bleeding ramp! It was horribly steep and you aren't supposed to attempt to push wheelies up an incline as sharp as that. But of course, we are talking Dirty Girls here, so all hands on deck and up we sailed, with me squealing and covering my eyes! Lol! Some DGs went off hunting for food, others stayed to freeze their asses off. I can't remember the last time I was as cold as that, stuck outside for hours, losing all sense and feeling in my limbs Things were livened up somewhat by the appearance of Charlie, dashing round like mad thing. We nearly didn't have a guitarist tonight as he was risking his precious limbs leaping up on the metal fence, to balance precariously to take a photo of us all, and then toppling over, landing like a cat, and dashing madly back to the rear of the club! Lol! Bad lad. Steve also appeared a couple of times, and then again, walking the length of the queue (which had grown considerably by that time) with a guy who was videoing us all. This is a habit of theirs. Are we ever going to see the results?! Miggins also came up to introduce herself - what a lovely woman! And her sis, Kaleidescope. Infact, a few other people sought me out to say hi inside and out and I am sorry if I haven't mentioned you Doors opened at 7-30, shortly after the heaven's opened. Daf and I were whisked in the side entrance and then the others caught up before more queueing. Inside the gig area, we found JIG, JIGsMum, and then dot came over - dot is the woman who joined our circle at the cocktail party from hell last year at The Harvest! It was then that we noticed that a fellow wheelie was somehow up in the balcony, where there were hardly any peope at that stage, and it looked very inviting! JIG and JIGsMum navigated us through the crowds and sorted out a way to get up there.... yup, it was the strong-armed bouncers lifting me lock, stock and wheelchair up the stairs routine again! As I say, fortunately just one flight this time, thank god, although I squealed a lot and was just as scared as before, lol. Got a great position overlooking the stage, really close to the action. Have to say, I really liked the support act. Lazy Eye were great, the lead singer had bags of 'tude and they were good musicians. I could have listened to them some more. One of the songs they did was Cheekbones, which I had heard on some late night show a few weeks ago and really liked (and hey, um, cheekbones, you know!). Nearly GOTR time!

Yes, so good ;D Did I say [glow=red,2,300]GOTR WERE FANFUCKINGTASTIC!![/glow] 100, 200, hell 1000 times better as a band than last year, even though they always had that great live vibe going. Man, have they been rehearsing! And they all seemed so UP for this, very excited and bouncy. I think even Steve grinned for the entire set! ;D From where I was Charlie was hidden behind a speaker for most of the time but I could just about see Sean. And Kevin roamed far and wide tonight so saw plenty of him. James and Steve were in plain view all the time. I want to say something about Kevin. And I am probably going to sound all maternal now, lol! he seems to have grown up so much this past year, looks and acts so confident, and seemed to be really enjoying himself. He sang backing vocals a few times, but at the front of the stage, and it really worked. Really helped James out (even though his voice was so strong tonight, just as many or few duff notes as you'd expect from any live band). So, yesterday I was in love with Sean, tonight I love Kevin too (and now my maternal hat has been whipped off, I want you to understand ). All night the band rocked SO FUCKING HARD! And they were so together. And like I say, really looked to be so into it and having a ball! Oh, you want to hear about James now, do you? Soon!

James was wearing Monday's clothes (black tee, jeans and boots), and his hair is sooooo fucking amazing! I think he looks better like this, and he obviously loves it too. He's forever stroking it! And his hair And I have to report that although looking very fit, rested and slender, he has the teeniest, tiniest poochy belly right now. Grab it while you can! NO! Not literally, DGs!We had blatant lollipop action, and tongue action too, throughout and he knows exactly what he is doing. He was his usual flirty, bouncy, pogoing self (no mad spinny dances tonight!) and did a lot of smiling and waving and generally twinkling As I said, his voice was strong all night, just a bit flatish in Blocking Brainwaves, I think it was. And Kevin and Charlie helping take the strain in a couple of songs really works well. Set list a-comin'.

Although I didn't have the right film speed, I did take a few. If they come out they'll be decent ones, of James in particular as he was central to my view... and I used my zoom! JIG took pics too. Ditto and Deb were squashed up against the front barrier and I'm sure I saw Deb taking some - she was right slap in front of him The set ;D ;D They opened with New Man, which is soooooooooooo much better live than the overproduced CD (shut up, my opinion! No-one has to agree!). And they performed it better than I remember from last year. And the lollipop came straight out (or in, if you like) in this opening number, no messing! Next up was Valerie - again so raunchy and gutsy live. Heaps better than recorded. Then Blocking Brainwaves. James was popping his earpieces in and out by this stage, and he was a bit flat to start with but got back on track. And the off notes didn't even sound horrible; and you know I don't sugar coat it with the lads. Then came This Town, which I totally adore. It is quieter, very pretty vocally, and hey, I now have it on CD (they were selling the EP). I really don't think they could make this one sound blah, recorded. *fingers crossed* Runaway was up next. It is growing on me, and as I keep saying, so much better live But one of the huge mega amazing highlights of the night for me was Goodnight Sweet Girl - always one of my faves (even on CD! LMAO! ). Oh my sweet fucking gawd!!! it was bloody brilliant, amazing, I don't have the superlatives without going looking for my thesaurus. James' voice was sweet, plaintive when it needed to be, strong, when it had to be, and here's where the extra vocals really really work. Kevin was right up with him for the power notes towards the end (I guess Charlie was giving it some too, but I couldn't see.... and I was just transfixed by James and Kevin by then!). If I had keeled over then I would have died with the hugest smile on my face. [glow=red,2,300]AWESOME![/glow] And what did they follow it up with? Another showstopper, Katie! ;D ;D I was emotionally exhausted by then... having had my metaphorical orgasm with Goodnight Sweet Girl (and without the aid of any cheap vibrator!) and all bounced out after Katie. So Bad just was there, and I was catatonic, lol!

;D=PK...lol.....You're running on GotR lurve right now, aren't ya? I'm hoping for strong JM voice in London, just hope he isn't all tuckered out when he gets there! And I always think Kevin and Charlie do a great job when they do back him up....

Okay, I am seriously flagging now so just the business and then I am outta here! Next was Mad Brilliant (which I always call the kissing song, because of Charlie's brilliant lyrics! The image sticks in my mind ) and Kevin was belting it out again alongside James. James then said - I am sure! - that he had to go pee, but it was planned.... I didn'tknow what the hell they were playing in his absence but it was good. I am sure someone can enlighten me, but on the actual set list, which Deb managed to snarf AND get signed by the lovely Sean (and which I am scanning for the Sistas tomorrow) it says Boss - Daughter. Back to full strength, and Call 911 which rocked majorly. And James did a great job on the EXPLODE! Next was another new fave of mine, Say You Worry. Was singing along to it as if I had known it forever, somehow! Then another of my all time faves and woohoo, second highlight of the night - Vehicles Shock Me. Man oh man *spontaneously combusts* On the setlist, they were down to play David Letterman next, but instead they closed on Liar. But we knew they'd be back for an encore.... They traipsed off the stage right in front of the front row and were giving out smiles and handshakes as they went. And then they were back - Letterman, excellent as ever. And then a great climax with German, Jewish. Great guitar solo, great vocals, lots of audience participation And then Charlie threw a "fit" on stage on his back, waving his legs in the air, and James picked him up and carried him off! And then more smiling and handshaking (at some point during which, the Marsters touched Twistie's hand). Far and away the best big of theirs I've seen. And great atmosphere at the club too. I was looking off into the crowd at various times and there were a fair few guys there - who just about all seemed to be really digging it! Bouncing, heads going etc. The lads'll like that! I found myself not even looking at the stage at some points, I was so busy chair dancing, bouncing and singing - quietly! During Katie I suddenly looked over at Steve and he was grinning up at me, lol! See, we don't all just stare and drool at the lead singer, all the time (but plenty )! But lots of people got James grins and waves and tongue curls tonight, as reward for their devotion! Peace out.

OMG, my neck and shoulders are aching, my feet are like blocks of ice, my head is pounding. And my brain is mushed. I am having a crisis re New Man - I scribbled it down as that at the time, it is on the guys' set list as that. But then it struck me they didn't play It's Nothing.... was New Man really It's Nothing?! I honestly can't remember now! I can still picture just about everything else and sing along, but the opener is getting fuzzier and fuzzier... Need sleep BAD!

I'm feeling very embarrassed! ;D SNOW! I didn't see you there? Hey honey Well, I wasn't there - in Coventry, I mean. That's why I came here . I didn't even dream about the gig tonight *pouts*. They never deliver those dreams like I order them. But it's great to hear you all seem to have had so much fun. Gotta hurry off to work now. Don't forget to bring an umbrella to Berlin - weather forecast says it will be raining this weekend.
