Abduction:
If it is you who is being kidnapped it indicates success over some sort of opponent but if you were observing the abduction of someone else, you could soon get some unexpected news.
Accident :
The meaning of this type of dream varies greatly and can represent a variety of circumstances. It could signify that you are simply worried about being in an accident or it could be a memory of an accident that you have already been in. More metaphorically, it could symbolise how you may be so preoccupied with something in life that you are not paying attention to other areas and you need to slow down while it could also indicate something in your life that you are dissociating yourself from or letting go of. An accident at sea is linked to love affairs, while on land is linked to business. If you dream of a car accident then a vehicle often is a symbol your own body and therefore could show that you are worried about your health.
Adultery:
If you are the one being adulterous then you must be careful of confiding in new acquaintances. If you were tempted but said no, then you will receive some setbacks, which, though disappointing, will be short-lived.
Aeroplane :
If you see an aeroplane in your dreams, its meaning is similar to that of air which represents ideas and intellect. However, if you are the pilot it can represent the fact that you are able to rise above a situation, soar to great and further achievements or just escape from day to day worries. If you were merely the passenger it indicates that you may hear news from overseas.
Alcohol :
This can be a positive or a negative symbol and depends on other elements within the dream. On the positive side, if you are drinking it moderately then it could indicate success, socialising, escapism or a release of inhibitions in a positive way such as in an artistic sense. On the minus side it could show that you have destructive tendencies, mainly towards yourself.
Animals :
To see animals in a dream can have a variety of meanings because to a large extent it depends on the type of animal, some of which are listed here. In general though, animals are symbolic of the inner self that is instinctive and uninhibited and the depiction of wild animals are a good sign that relate to business. Placid animals are good omens but if they attacked you or they were fighting each other it shows that some trouble could hit your business affairs.
Anxiety / Fear :
If you have tried to put your worries and fears out of your mind they may come to the fore in a dream about anxiety. However, it could also indicate that your worries will soon be over, that you will recognise them and find it within you to overcome your fears.
Birds :
Birds are another complex dream symbol, the meaning of which depends very much on what they are doing. Flying birds are good because they represent physical or mental freedom and coloured and/or flying birds are also auspicious omens. However, dead or injured birds could indicate that some worries are coming your way but if they are birds of prey these fears will not last long. Birds can also be a symbol of the higher self.
Bird :
If you dream about being blind or being blindfolded it rarely indicates actual physical blindness, it is more a symbol of a lack of awareness about something. This could either be something that you really don't know about or it could be something that you do know is happening but you are not facing or accepting it because you don't want to know. It could also be a sign of deceit from someone who you would least expect to mislead you. Also, a blindfold in your dream could indicate a guilty conscience.
Bride / Bridegroom :
You'll be lucky if you saw or were a bride in your dream, but the details must be considered for an accurate interpretation. In general though, a bride is a symbol of purity and innocence and if you kissed a bride, you will gain a small inheritance. If a bridegroom features in your dream, it indicates and delay in an important plan for which you need to change tactics to succeed. Dreaming about a bride or bridegroom could also represent another type of relationship that you may be in. i.e. in business.
Burial / Funeral :
If you are attending the burial service of somebody else it could be a symbol that you are letting go of a part of your life, may be an old situation or a relationship. It can also be seen as a dream of contrary where it indicates that you may hear of a birth. However, if you dream of being buried alive, you should try to avoid doing anything that might be considered unethical.

Church :
If you dream about a church, it could symbolise that your prayers are being answered. On the other hand, it could also show a need for spiritual nourishment. In general though, if you are outside the church looking at it, it is a lucky omen. If you dreamed about the inside, there may be a few troubles coming your way but they may turn out to be blessings.
Colours :
A lot of bright colours in your dreams stand for energy and further success. However, if one particular colour stands out, it could mean the following:
Blue :
Blue - escape from your troubles Black - you can overcome your difficulties Brown - prosperity Bright Red - try not to lose your temper so much Deep Red - you could get some welcome news unexpectedly Green - Travel or overseas news Lavender - short-term disappointment Orange - change could be postponed Pink - unusual success Purple - happy times are ahead Yellow - you must step back in order to move forward White - success in everything
Death :
This is does not necessarily mean death in the literal sense but the end of a certain period of your life, the end of your worries or letting go of an old part of the self. So it can indicate that you are transforming yourself. On the other hand it could show that you are stuck on the routine of life and you need to revitalise your life.
Dog :
Dogs in a dream symbolize friendship and loyalty and in general are a good sign. However, if the dog is being unfriendly or attacks you, it could mean that a friend is going to deceive you in some way.
Falling :
Falling is a universal dream symbol indicating that the dreamer may have failed in some way or that they have a particular fear of something. They can also occur if you are feeling overwhelmed by a situation or that something is now out of your control.
Fight :
The basic meaning in a dream of fighting is change and can refer to any kind of conflicts that we have to deal with in our every day lives. The result of the change is forecast in the outcome of the fight.
Fire :
Generally a fire indicates passion, purification, anger or destruction. If you get burnt it can indicate that trouble is coming but if it doesn't hurt you it foretells good news. If you see a building on fire a close acquaintance may need help but if you are extinguishing it or escaping from one, it portends success and that you can overcome anything.
Flowers :
Flowers are generally a good omen foretelling happiness and are symbols of beauty.
Flying :
This is a very common symbol which generally means freedom. (see also birds and aeroplanes) This can either represent a need to escape or show that you are a fantasist.
Food and Drink :
This could literally mean that you are hungry or could symbolise that there is something missing in your life.
Friends :
If you witness any kind of friendship in a dream it predicts a good time socially with your companions.

Killing: A killing scene in a dream is not necessarily a bad thing as it could mean that you are destroying old parts of your life, although if you are responsible for the death, it foretells a stressful period in your life where you must try not to lose your temper. However, it could also indicate that you are extinguishing your zest for life. Kiss : A dream kiss can mean a number of things from romantic interest to betrayal. If is was a pleasant kiss it portends happiness but if it seemed insincere or illicit it shows betrayal or disenchantment. Love : Sincere love forecasts happiness but a dream of an illicit affair signifies failure because of your greed. Moutain : Mountains can be symbols of your aspirations and what you want to do in life or of spiritual progress but they can also indicate that you may have to overcome some obstacles. Music : Music is a sign of expression of emotional matters and to hear it or be composing it in your dream shows that someone could be playing with your emotions. Beautiful music also portends good fortune while a cacophony shows conflict. Naked : If you are naked in your dream it shows that you are somehow vulnerable and are worried about being found out. It can also indicate your need for freedom of expression. Dreaming of the nudity of others shows that you may uncover deceit within your group pf friends. Nervous : Whether it's you or others, this is a warning against your propensity to be profligate with your assets. Paralysis : This shows that the dreamer could feel helpless within a certain situation or a need to 'let something lie' for a while resulting from a desire for freedom from some sort of responsibility. Run : To be running away in a dream simply suggests that you are involved in something from which you would like to escape because you are finding it overwhelming. If you are unable to run in your dream it shows low self-esteem. Snake : A snake in your dream is a symbol of fertility. It is also quite phallic and to dream of one, especially if it is on your body, shows that you may be guided by either your sexual passions or repression. However, snakes are also warnings of various troubles. Spider : Spiders are a sign of good luck and to kill one foretells some good news. However, it could also symbolise the 'tangled web we weave' in life or that the dreamer is trapped in a stifling relationship. Violence : Scenes of violence in your dreams can indicate the struggle to assert yourself and fear of losing your sense of control, especially if it is the dreamer that is the perpetrator. It it is the dreamer that is being attacked it shows that you feel a need for punishment, maybe because of a sense of guilt or it could mean that you are feeling vulnerable. These types of dreams are usually preceded by some sort of upheaval in the dreamer's life. Water : The meaning of water in your dream depends on the state that it is in - be it murky, calm, hot, cold, slow or fast flowing - but generally it is a symbol for the emotions and a large expanse of water like a sea or a lake is often seen as representing the unconscious. As you might expect, clear and calm water is a good sign but dirty or rough water indicates that difficulties might be on the way. Running water shows a long period of happiness and if it is moving gently it foretells contentment and peace. A waterfall is an excellent sign, showing either some kind of promotion or material wealth. horoscopes.msn.co.uk/dreams/dream_symbols.php

Dream Introduction
A dream can warn us of potential danger, and decoding our dreams can often help us to solve problems. Frequently, things that trouble us crystallize in a dream. Some dreams even predict the future. Studying and interpreting dreams isn't new, as they have fascinated man since the dawn of time.
Dreams have been carved on cave walls, set in stone, and every Roman Legion had a soothsayer to try and make sense of 'nocturnal visions'. In ancient times, priests consulted oracles and shrines for guidance, to try and make sense of dreams.
Our ancestors believed that dreams were messages from the gods, and in days gone by, interpreters of dreams were visited much as doctors are today. Times may have changed, but the fascination of dreams remains. Many now-famous people have put forward theories of dream interpretation.
Sigmund Freud thought that much of what we dream is in some way sexual. Another psychoanalyzer, Carl Jung, recognized that man has other deep desires to drive him. In his fascinating book, An Experiment with Time, Professor Dunne put forward the idea that all time is like a river, and that it can be navigated backwards or forwards in the vessel of dreams. Sleep is the road to dreamland. And these days, thanks to advances in medical science, we certainly know more about it than our predecessors did.
On average, we sleep for a third of each day; by the time we're 75, we have slept for 25 years - and dreamt for 10 of them. That's a lot of sleeping, and a lot of dreaming! Recent studies show that what occurs in dreams takes place in a real-life time-span, so, for instance, simple things like shopping or eating take just as long in a dream as they do in reality.
In more complicated dreams, however, where you're, say, in far-flung places, you're simply seeing the 'edited highlights'. Studies also have shown that it's possible to dream with your eyes open, which happens when the brain becomes overloaded with the toxins created by fatigue.

In extreme exhaustion, the person will succumb to the need for sleep - but the dream will be cut short by an inbuilt desire to survive, for example, if they have started dreaming at the wheel. It's long been accepted that the ideal position for a good night's sleep is to be on the right-hand side of the bed. The bed should be facing north-south, so that the body can make maximum use of the lines of magnetism running from the Poles. Try running your hands in cold water before retiring as well - it can get rid of surplus static. If you find it hard to sleep, try breathing very deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth. This is a very helpful technique for becoming calm. When we fall asleep each night, a complex series of changes in our consciousness takes place. Deepest sleep comes upon us almost immediately. This is followed by a shorter period of lighter sleep in which our eyeballs dart about beneath our closed lids. This period of Rapid Eye Movement - or REM - is when we dream. It happens about five times in an eight-hour period. We usually wake up after the last one, and naturally these are the dreams we remember best. There is some evidence that women dream for longer periods than men. Perhaps they simply enjoy their dreams more! Any kind of drugs - whether stimulants or sedatives - diminish the amount of dream time. So if you're or taking medication, you're less likely to dream. Dreams that you have while can be discounted as you're reacting to the illness rather than to a normal course of events. Some people claim they never dream, but this is simply because they don't remember their dreams as well as others. Clinical tests have proved that when so-called non-dreamers are woken during REM sleep, they give vivid accounts of the images they have just seen, which are, like real-life events, in colour. Even our pets dream. If you watch a sleeping dog or cat, you can detect their Rapid Eye Movement. Many people claim they can't remember the content of a dream on waking. Because dreams are an expression of our true selves - including desires we can't admit even to ourselves, let alone others - dreaming is the only way we have of expressing them. We sometimes find it hard to accept the messages that are being given in a dream, and so we censor them. Dreams are heavily loaded with emotion, and this can distort our memory. To help remember your dreams, try keeping a dream diary. On waking, don't get out of bed or even change position. Keep a notepad and pen by the bed, or even a tape recorder, and note down or record everything you can remember. Try and recall, too, what you were preoccupied with before going to sleep as this can provide vital clues in interpretation. Try to recapture the mood of the dream, which is important. If you still can't remember, but an event later in the day triggers your memory, write it down. It could be helpful in working out the meaning of the dream. Train yourself to do this regularly, and gradually memories of your dreams should follow. Dreams are a proven creative artistic source: some of our greatest writers and poets, like Robert Louis Stevenson and William Wordsworth, regularly recorded their dreams and were inspired by them. In dreamland, many wonderful things can happen: we can travel to distant places, meet loved ones, even take tea with the Queen. Some dreams, however, can simply be scary, and a particularly frightening dream is called a nightmare. These severe anxiety dreams - where you wake up in a cold sweat, feeling very afraid - occur because what is happening in the dream is too overwhelming to be contained while asleep, so you wake up. True nightmares occur in the non- dream phase of sleep, and have little remembered content. Sex plays a major part in our dream world. That's because it has an important role in our everyday lives. It's a powerful driving force, like hunger and ambition. While we're awake, sex is ruled by social restrictions and conventions, but in our dreams, even the most timid of us can have explicit and excitingly sexy dreams once our repressed selves are asleep. That's why the prissiest of spinsters often uses filthy language when waking from an anesthetic. Sex is a significant bodily need, and any unusual or enforced period without it might result in a sexual dream. Frank sexual dreams can occur frequently in adolescence, and often result in actual orgasm. In adults, everyday sexual needs and preoccupations are dealt with indirectly in dreams. horoscopes.msn.co.uk/dreams/dream_introduction.php

Nightmares : These are frightening dreams because they produce unpleasant sensations or the dreamer is in a very dangerous situation. Dreaming of some kind of monster shows that there may be something in your life that you are frightened of and that needs to be confronted. Dreaming of being in a terrifying situation like not being able to move means that you may be stuck at a point in your life and feel unable to move forward. However, nightmares are not necessarily prophetic, they may be a reaction to an event that has just occurred. This could be anything from a recent frightening experience, dreams that occur during illness or dreams that you have after seeing a disturbing film or programme. Lucid Dreaming: This is a fairly recent discovery that people can be aware that they are dreaming and actually control events. However, it is an acquired skill and one that is often used by practitioners of Tibetan Buddhism as they try to find a higher level of consciousness. It has led researchers to find out if the method can be utilized for therapeutic purposes. Predictive Dreams: Having the same dream over and over again is usually an indication that something is troubling you in life. Predictive Dreams: These are dreams that are said to predict future events, which are said to occur during the deepest part of your sleep - between 2.00am and 7.00am. It is these types of dreams that are worth interpreting.

I thought this was interesting: Ooooh! Oh dear. The only nit I remember from my dreams last night was getting a taxi into town, walking a lot better than I actually am and climbing the stairs to the Odeon cinema, coming back down, paying the taxi driver, heading back to the cinema... and being spotted by some people from work. I then felt obliged to tag along with them to their office, which was now upstairs in one of our hotels, and endure some mindless chitchat about boring work stuff, wondering all the time when I cou.d escape and go to the movie without them being suspicious..... My dreams do seem to be laced with guilt concerning work now and again these days.... heh! In this one, I obviously felt well enough to be at work but was having a sickie. If this is really how I feel about my condition then I should get counselling, I reckon!

Good god PK that's a lot of stuff to sift through a bit too much for me to take in I'm afraid. Seems like you have way to much time on your hands LOL ;D
I don't know what your dream means Lozz but it sounds nasty more of a nightmare. The trouble with dreams is that you don't always remember them properly and this can lead to misinterpretation. So you can't always believe what people may think they mean.

Oooh, I found something about amputation:
Amputation dream interpretation meaning of dream This is a frightening dream which may be due to anxiety and fear. It suggests feelings of frustration, anger, and powerlessness on the part of the dreamer. This dream may also be related to a radical removal of something from one's life. Some believe that you are trying to get rid of something that is no longer desirable or necessary or that the limb or the part being amputated has lost its power. According to New Age thinking, the right side of the body is usually associated with the ability to give emotionally, psychologically and physically to yourself and others, while the left is linked with the ability to receive. Carl Jung said that the left side represents the unconscious while right indicates the conscious.

Whatever it is, if you can't remember it means you are suppressing!
Marilyn dreamed of painting, I believe:
PAINT/PAINTING There are many sayings that illustrate how paint can be used in dreams. We can paint the town red, paint too rosy a picture, whitewash everything, paint too clear a picture.
These suggest letting loose pent up high spirits; being too optimistic; trying to cover up mistakes; being too honest. Painting can also symbolise self expression, realisation of inner contents, hiding the real condition of things with a veneer of paint, or to put a new appearance on things.

Well of course I would love to share some of my dreams, which are very clearly remembered, but this being a GP kind of board and all, I'm sure PK would put her arm out of whack beating me with the broom. ;D But, if I happen to have a nice birdy one or something, will be sure to let you know.. Interesting about the Lucid Dreams..told you that I have done that when in writing mode... And how about this, for a period of my life had the same recurring dream...a really horrible one...many years later, like 20 or so, found out it wasn't a dream, it was something I witnessed when a babe in a high chair! Freaky eh!

Apparently dreaming you are embarrassingly nekkid is quite common....
To dream that you are naked, foretells scandal and unwise engagements.
To see others naked, foretells that you will be tempted by designing persons to leave the path of duty. Sickness will be no small factor against your success.
To dream that you suddenly discover your nudity, and are trying to conceal it, denotes that you have sought illicit pleasure contrary to your noblest instincts and are desirous of abandoning those desires.
Being naked in a dream suggests vulnerability and exposure. It could be a compensation to what is going on in daily life. Are you very guarded and unwilling to let people see the "real" you or are you feeling embarrassment as a result of a mistake or emotional reaction? With this dream the unconscious might be encouraging you to become more open with your feelings and more accessible emotionally. Additionally, if you see yourself naked in inappropriate places, your rebellious side may be coming through and with it some fear that people may not accept you for what you really are.
