I assume it is on Sky, so I can't. Probably would give it a try if I could, but there have been a lot of "spaceraft Westerns" - gawd knows why Joss thought we needed another.

I have watched all episodes well the ones that were aired in the US. I think they were aired in the wrong sequence because some of them make no sense when aired. I would like to watch them again but the Station cancelled them and I don't think it will be a rerun. Sunflower

Honestly, do you think that based on the ratings of the series there would be a movie or movie? I know Joss said it himself and of course he has the time to make the plot but I don't see how he is going to sell the idea to the ones that would make it happen. Sunflower

I'm fairly incredulous too, but apparently Fox have expressed an interest...

Are you implying that Joss is slacking lately PK??

Slacking may not be the word I would use, but I shall say it outright - the man lost it.... maybe he'll get it back again....

Hmm, Herc speaks wisely on Firefly.... (By the way, those puzzled by why a “Firefly” movie is even being contemplated should remember this: Paramount has reaped zillions at the moviehouses by reviving failed projects for the big screen. ABC’s “Police Squad!” became the movies’ “Naked Gun” franchise. And there was also NBC’s little-watched spaceship saga “Star Trek.” Also, bear in mind that “Firefly,” during its short first season, actually attracted a larger average audience than the most recent seasons of “Buffy" and "Angel." (4.48 million viewers for “Firefly” vs. 3.66 million for “Buffy” and 3.65 million for "Angel." Strange but true.) If I link you to this, the power of spoiler corruption will overwhelm you, the rest of his column being concerned with "Angel" spoilers....

I intended watching it, but knowing that it was pulled before it really got anywhere, I lot interest.
Just seemed pointless trying to invest in characters that we'll never really get to know..Of course if another US network were to pick it up, I'd probably give it another shot.
Right now, I'm thinking JW needs to consentrate on getting the new AtS formula working..He was definitely spread too thinly last year, and IMO all his projects suffered as a result..

Personally, I would totally agree with that.
Anyhoo, Joss wouldn't give a rat's ass what I thought, so on with the show! This from Kirsten?wanda's latest chat:
Joss is currently working on the movie. He told me at the WB party: "I'm writing a script, and I have some interest, but I won't know until I finish the draft whether it's genuine. We have a pretty decent shot, and it's not a pipe dream. But I can't say it's in the bag. I would direct it." I asked if it would have the same cast. "Well, I can't just keep putting them on Angel, so I have to make a Firefly movie so I can hang out with them more! The deal is contingent upon the cast."

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The short-lived series "Firefly" is moving to the big screen.
After taking his "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" feature film and turning it into a successful series, "Firefly" creator Joss Whedon is about to do the reverse with his Fox cult hit, which will be released theatrically by Universal Pictures.
In addition to adapting it for the big screen, Whedon will also make his feature directorial debut with the project. Plans are to see "Firefly" go into production in first-quarter 2004.
Universal recently acquired the rights to "Firefly" from 20th Century Fox Television, where Whedon's Mutant Enemy Inc. production company has a television deal.
The action-adventure series was set 500 years in the future and centered on a crew aboard a spaceship. The feature version will incorporate the mythology from the show but will take on a more epic feel. Whedon hopes to enlist the entire cast to come back for the feature, depending on their previous commitments, with new characters added as well.
"Ever since the show went off the air, our fan base has grown even more," said Mutant Enemy president Christopher Buchanan. "We've had tremendous outpouring from the U.S. and Canada as well as the U.K., which just finished a run of 'Firefly' over there. Every comic book and sci-fi convention has had a 'Firefly' presence since the show first aired."
For the series, which ran this past season, Whedon produced 15 hours of television, including a two-hour episode. Three shows never aired on Fox but will likely be featured on the series' DVD release, due out in December. Buchanan said fans created such a demand that DVD presales on Amazon.com sold out within 24 hours.
Whedon's feature film screenplay credits include "Titan A.E.," "Alien: Resurrection" and "Toy Story."

From Guide Online /roush/mattask/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.tvguide.com//roush/mattask/Roush Room ASK MATT Monday, September 15, 2003 Question: What do you think about Firefly being turned into a movie? Do you think us diehard fans may see Fox admit they screwed up in cancelling this one? — Jennie Matt: I'm curious and hopeful that Joss Whedon's flawed but fascinating attempt to make a sci-fi Western for will work even better — and, one hopes, actually draw an audience — as a movie. Even if it's a hit, though, Fox would probably continue to argue that as a series, Firefly was just too weird to succeed.
