Tsk, DeeDee. If you do that in public I may be forced to withdraw your RPS privileges indefinitely! The piano just seems to complement his voice so beautifully on Smile; I don't think he has ever sounded more lovely.

There's something yummy about the sound of a piano with a good voice...

Ooops I dont scream Pk it just felt as though that for what I need was the type of one the screamers would do wonder if the piano was inspired by Patrica? Oh 12 more days ;D ;D till Liverpool

I've only heard a live "Long Time" and there was too much background - no, make that foreground - noise to do it justice. Damn people chattering! "Poor Robyn" is on repeat at the moment; loving the new arrangement with its smoky, gentle deceptiveness.

WOWOWOWOWOWOW to "Poor Robyn"... lovely.
And, OH MY GOD!! His voice has improved so much! Judging by the 2 tracks I've heard, this style of music really suits his voice... *sigh*yum*

got my CD. been playing it the car all day
thoughts?
It's not as acoustic as I was expecting and at first I wasn't too sure about some of the arrangements , but I'm liking it more and more.
It's such a treat to have a good quality recording of "Katie" as opposed to a dodgy bootleg and I love "Long Time" and "Poor Robyn" "FWIN" is sex on a stick !
"No Promises" sounds positively jaunty and "Bad" is just naughty but very very nice . While "Smile" is heart meltingly lovely with the piano accompaniment
And I still think " This Town "is the best thing James has written.. you can so clearly see that room with the candle and the mattress ... damn that boy has a real way with words
The only track I'm still not sure about is "Patricia" I think I preferred the live version because the second verse on the album comes across as a bit " list like" without enough expression in the voice
But hell that's a minor quibble
James' voice has improved amazingly
the best thing he ever did was to disband GOTR and go solo
And now I'm beyond psyched for the tour !
*woot* ;D

G said I could order it. He's got the credit card, so I don't know if he's gonna order it for me or not. I think he's expecting a "thank-you" in advance. Kind of makes me that he doesn't understand my James-lurve isn't all about the hotness.

Thats exactly what I thought, I was plesently suprised by it not being as acoustic as I had expected it to be. I love the album, (For what I need is on constant repeat on my ipod) Cant wait to Islington now, ;D although does any one know how long James set will be? as the album is just under 40 minutes long!

Now that my brief leg of the tour is over *sniffle* and I have my signed copy of the CD, I can't help but make comparisons between recorded and live. Wish I didn't, as the experiences and sounds are so different. Some tracks I much prefer live, but that doesn't mean I don't like what has been done to them on the album. Like Deb said, it is great to have Katie down on CD to bounce and sing along to whenever the fancy takes you (which is often, in my case!). Especially as James says he isn't sure whether it works with just him live - it does, it so DOES!! It should be compulsory that he plays it every single time he gigs Bad is neither improved nor enhanced in this version from how GOTR used to perform it, IMO. It's fine, particularly the last verse, but I prefer it live (although on reflection I do love the keyboards). This Town - sublime. Always was; even better now. Smile - sublime. I adore the album version, with the piano. Love it live too, equally For What I Need is dirty and sexy and yeah! His voice sounds so pure and sweet on Long Time *sigh* Every Man... is a beautifully written song, and really suits James' voice, which is nice when it is written by someone else (the producer). We're not used to James' musical colleagues doing that, are we?! Poor Robyn is a firm favourite, just gorgeous. Pain and maybe bitterness wrapped up in beauty Although the closing sentiment comes across more clearly live I feel the same way about No Promises as I do about Bad, I reckon. Much prefer Patricia live, although I appreciate it is hard on his hands But here's a turn-up - really love Civilized Man on the album and it actually beats the only live performance I have seen of it, although I did enjoy watching his guitar playing on it. All in all, this is a keeper; I can't see me tiring of this album at ALL! Lyrically, vocally and guitar playing-wise, he is developing all the time and has come such a very very long way. Can't wait for #2 ;D ;D

I woke this morning and he was already singing Civilised Man in my head, word perfect - guitar and everything...I don't know the words to Civilised Man! I must know them subconsciously.

LMAO, Ditto; I know what you mean. That album really sticks with you, and please can we have a partner for it VERY SOON, James? I'll beg...

Would anyone like to write a little review of the album for the main site? I can, and probably will, but it would be nice to have other contributions too. Thanks
