Apparently the front cover available in Houston is the same as the one for the UK tour. Noooooooooo! ! ! That's the one I liked better... Liking the idea of a solo album and solo album pics (as opposed to silly stick drawings :

I didn't mind the little stick Ghosties either. But for a solo album it's a much better idea to have luverly pics, esepcially when your fan base is mad for them, lol.
I've read a number of reports where people said as much as they are enjoying listening to the album, having bought it in Houston, they prefered hearing James live, without any backing etc.
I've nearly always found that live performances are more exciting, enthralling, whatever. Maybe I've just been lucky. But that carries over into the classical world as well (I used to love going to the Symphony Hall for live orchestras, but never listen to classical music at home). I don't need perfection, I want emotion/energy etc.
But that's not to say the album won't be on repeat play ;D

I think you get an extra buzz from being there - you certainly get caught up in the emotion of the thing with a live performance. In some way I do love live performances (including the classical world - but it has to be good, then, or I cringe!), but I love having the CD as well, so I can jog my memory - particularly if there are really cool songs. And given that it's James, there are bound to be.
I find that live performances are more 'real' somehow - you know what I mean? recordings are done so often to get it right, I find sometimes they lack the fire of a live performance, if you're not careful. Not always, but often.

Yes, totally agree. A lot of the time, of course, you would never know as you don't get to hear the artist live, and are thrilled enough with the album. But for instance, having always worshipped at the altar of REM and not able to find fault with their albums (even the mumbled earlier ones!), I was totally gobsmacked when I heard them live. It's like a whole other experience that takes you places a studio recording just can't. Even at GOTR's level, I loved their energy and buzz live, warts and all, flat notes or not Still, can't wait to take possession of James' album (and the DVD too, which will satisfy our needs for live recording!). ETA - I should probably add, the Symphony Hall is a world-class venue and we subscribed to their international season where only the world's leading orchestras, conductors and soloists played! But evenso, I'd rather experience that in person and never listen to the same orchestra playing the same music on CD. But that is just a classical music foible of mine. I'm not like that with other types of music.

at the idea of a DVD ;D I'd LOVE to hear REM live... always had a soft spot for Automatic for the People. Yeah... GotR were great to watch live - plenty of verve going for them, even if their notes were sometimes a little duff, lol!

What I think I'm look forward to most is not only seeing JM live performing the album but then taking the album home and listening to it for the first time. To have all the memories of the performace relived and forming connections with the album to make it even more special when istened to.
;D can't wait

Please, no. Never been into romantic fiction. He's sexy enough as a downtrodden wizard!
Wanting to hear what he's done to "This Town". Might be letting myself get a bit excited about hearing it now ;D
Whoa! Gah! Always, always loved "Smile", so pretty; was sad when he gave it up but could see why he would. But sweet hell! With piano?! *melts and expires*
